Feeling alone in MLP

meduni

Recommended Posts

It's my first time being here but I needed someplace to vent out.

I've been trying to watch Season 6 but everywhere I look on EQD and here, all I see is nothing but hate for the season. I get reasons like Twi is acting OOC in NSP, ND was the worst conclusion for RD and all that. Honestly I get cardiac pains from reading, NO JOKE. It goes against my perception of the show and even though everyone's words are not directed at me, it's convinced me that my view of the show is wrong.

Am I wrong in liking Season 6?

No one is wrong to like something. It just so happens the general opinion is dislike.

That being said, the show has been going on for almost 6 years now, it's natural that this will happen at this point. We're approaching the point where a lot of shows become stale, and it's a natural part of a show's life cycle.

Now as far as causing you actual pain... I wouldn't take it that seriously man.

In my experience with this site, the most vocal people are the ones who dislike things. I suppose that's true everywhere. But there's no reason you should feel obligated to dislike something just because others complain about it. If it makes you feel better, take a look at the polls in Season 6 Discussion. You'll find you're far from alone in liking S6 episodes.

Well I feel forced to agree with that general opinion when I don't at all.

You don't believe me? Trust me it happens. I told you I'm not of the jesting type when I say it does happen (the getting cardiac pains part). I'm always a very rigid person and my feelings since the show began up till this point have always remained the same: loving and enjoying it. Am I wrong to say that the show isn't going stale at all? Rather that it's improving?

Frankly I don't care if you say if it's natural or universal to all tv shows that they degenerate. I don't see it like that. Am I wrong in not seeing it like that?  Whenever I like something I tell myself to always stick to it.

That's totally up to you. I personally haven't seen season 6 so I definitely don't feel forced to dislike it.

You're not wrong, however if other people disagreeing is causing you actual medical problems it may be best to avoid the internet.

You're not wrong. Nor are people who believe the show IS degrading. It's all subjective. No one is wrong and everyone is permitted to think what they like.

As someone who has been a fan of the EQG franchise sense the first movie, and have loved Magical Mystery Cure when it came out and had to deal with the immense backlash it got, I understand this kind of feeling.

I come to realize that you are not wrong for liking something, and others should not try to tell you otherwise.

When it comes to this season, I have decided that it would be a good idea to just relax and have fun with a cute show about pastel colored ponies learning about the magic of friendship.

I try not to take it too seriously.

I like Season 6, too. I don't think it's as good as my favorite season (Season 2), but it's solid. No joke, some of my favorite episodes, like Flutter Brutter, A Hearth's Warming Tail, and No Second Prances, are from this season. :) Don't let the opinions of others control you. Jumping on the anti-S6 bandwagon won't do you much good if you're only doing it because some other people are doing it.

Exactly. There are a lot of people who really do like Season 6! But they aren't as vocal as the naysayers who won't stop complaining about it. They just create the illusion that the majority of fans dislike this season because not as many of the people who enjoy it are very open about it. :/

Boy, where have I seen this thread before? Oh, right....

https://mlpforums.com/topic/153789-has-my-little-pony-been-nothing-but-a-joke-all-this-time/

I'm quite certain that you don't see "nothing but hate" for season 6, especially on Equestria Daily. It's still a minority opinion, and you just notice it more.

Some people just feel that the show has reached a point where the quality has dropped. Truthfully, this was inevitable. Cartoons especially have a tendency to succumb to seasonal rot after running consistently for over five years with well over 100 episodes under its belt.

It's perfectly fine if you don't think it's reached that point yet, but if it keeps running, then you probably will at some point. Until then, don't worry about the opinions of others.

i love this series...(LOVE IT TILL I DIE, and after if i have a say!) and i can see where people can come up with complaints...

and if you (i dont recomend it...) want to look up what i have comented in, i have said some bad things about the series... but if you read them in order... you will see that im slowly groiwng to love the series even more! and its because i can see "more" of the ponies characters, through others perceptions... they notice what i dont, and when i see what i passed off as "whatever; suspention of disbelief"

seeing their reactions allowed me to gain a deeper apreciation for the series as a whole.

if you do read up on my posts, not all are pertaining to "hate" about the series...

also, i tried to create a "MLP:FIM Fan Club".... it was in the right place, i think.... but now its gone. or i cant find it....

when i am more knowlageable about the forum, i will try again!

The unasked questions are what bother me, not the answers. The answers give me clarity. Silence is in its self an answer, so ask! To not ask is to deny the existence of said question, and leaves you with just "what if".

This isn't exactly new; people have found one thing or another from MLP:FIM to complain about all along.  Everybody's a critic, and MLP critics tend to take themselves pret-ty seriously.

Though in the Post-Superfan Era of MLPF, there's almost a kind of pervasive resentment towards enthusiasm for the ponies or the series.  I see new members, all bright-eyed and eager, joining the site, and I just know that they aren't going to have quite the experience at MLPF that they were expecting.

I think the best thing you or anyone else can do (the OP included) is just try and enjoy the series for what it is.  Every season has its worthwhile moments, if you look.

I like the way you think. I just tend to be more optimistic about the show than some other people and I go into every episode wanting to like it. I don't have a problem with people who aren't like that, but I see the show through a different lens than them if that makes sense.

The individuals who dislike Season 6 outweighs the one who enjoys it and in return have stronger opinions for the show. I for one can see a line where more prominent members may set a train of thought and may eventually expend to others. It's true that this season generated more criticism and perhaps stronger feelings but then you are free to like season 6 whether if popular opinion matters or not.

Here's the way I see it. The fandom now is a society that is already hunting down all those who deviate in opinion. They're out for the dissidents' blood.

Something like this:

A= Hates S6

B= Loves S6

A: This season is the worst, period. We have our justifications for proving it objectively and all the Bs who argue are wrong. It won't matter if the Bs' words are heard because they are irrelevant and these traitors are refusing to see the truth. (Like in ancient human society) EXTERMINATE THE BS (pronounced bees)!

I feel like I am a B because I swore to myself to always love the show no matter what. But now every time I show up on EquestriaDaily, here or anywhere else I personally think that the As want to crush my head under their foot. I really feel like that will truly happen.

In other words, I love all the episodes of S6 but everyone says they are right when they say it is actually horrible and I am wrong, insane and demented for saying it is great and that everyone will come after me for saying them.

I don't jump on the hateful bandwagon because I'm blindly accepting their view or because I want to just because it's popular opinion. I jump on it because I think I have to. I do it out of fear. I feel scared and frightened and that I can't run the risk of being hurt when I have opposing opinions. I feel like I should completely submit to the view that S6 is the worst season ever or have my head cut off for saying otherwise. I feel like the fandom is already a tyranny and dictatorship to me, expecting 101% control over our thoughts and everything else.

As someone who has been a fan of the EQG franchise sense the first movie, and have loved Magical Mystery Cure when it came out and had to deal with the immense backlash it got, I understand this kind of feeling.

That's exactly why I came here, why I'm watching in the first place, but I feel like the fandom will exclude those who have those thought. I feel like they expect us to take it extremely seriously when I can't help but treat it lightly.

Not sure if you'll see this now, but here's what I have to say about this. There isn't nothing but hate for season 6. There are plenty of people that like it too, including me. Maybe you just haven't found the right people. I do kinda know how you feel. I actually like The Powerpuff Girls reboot, and while all the hate it's been getting hasn't been fun for me, it hasn't stopped me from enjoying it. I think what helps me is that I have a few friends that like it as well, so maybe you just need to find people that like season 6.

Meh, I'm liking the season so far. Just needs moar Braeburn and I'll be happy. I was glad to see the return of Changelings and mixing up the 'combos' a bit like the Rari/Dash/AJ trio with the CMCs.

Poetic Metaphore;

------------------------------------------------------------------------

i would like to see this world as peaceful as can be...

but i must realize, and i theorize, that it isn't so.

In this place, it seems, the only constant is me.

where chaos reins, and forever flow...

to this I must add, I'm a little insane,

for I realize we all have this pain....

but I learn to get a bit of gain,

pain to pleasure, its just a game!

with trials and tribulations, we strive to over come.

we wish to love, but hate on hate...

how can we end this, its "over done".

I wonder if my words came to late....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

in closing I would like to be more specific to the topic...

people in general will complain about anything they can, even trolls whom just want to get under peoples skins, because they can!

and this isn't limited to the "online" community.... its a staple of every day life, for almost all people... some more than others.

don't let it get you down if some one, any one, or even group, tries to tell you that their "idea/opinion/fact" is more valid than yours.

I'm not religious.... I do have a kind of "faith" but I don't know where it will lead.... with that said, I do believe that "we" (humans) have the ability to choose, and so we have the right to exercise that ability......... I feel like I'm rambling now, so I will stop here.....

Now, you see, people have always bitched about the show.

I usually only see the good stuff in the episodes and to me it rarely happens, that i think an episode is "bad". Now, i believe season six might be one of the better seasons so far. Except for the last couple of episodes where the characters really were out of character. Though, i still enjoyed those episodes!

In some episodes now, things focus on other things than just friendship, which i personally enjoy. They could do something different in the "friendship-episodes", which would make them golden, but i'm not gonna point that out.

The problem most people have is "It's not what it once was."

Yeah, wow. I guess that's just logical.

Actually, it is that people like FiM that they bring out that it bothers them when the new writers mess with their favored characters.  They have sunk costs that are being lost.

I enjoy seeing the new episodes and would love them to go on forever (or even better having a mirror that let me see into the slice of life over there) but it won't stop me from being expressing unease when an episode lessens FiM in one way or another.

When I rewatch an episode these days actually, it is more likely to be post alicorn Twi than pre.
