Is it wrong to pirate mlp episodes?

Wait so should I stop pirating them then?

Not my quote to answer, but considering it's a serious matter and a response is dire, yes. Piracy, in a nutshell - is illegal and you could potentially have charges pressed against you if you get caught. Depending on where you are, the charges vary and with privacy being a thing of the past in the online world, you're more prone to being discovered. ISP's can track your activity to what you do online too.

You really are better off waiting for the DVD's to come out or something. I don't know if there's box sets of MLP, but it's better than having an infringement notice in your mail.

I'm convinced that the majority, or at least a large portion of the fandom watches the episodes for free through sites like Dailymotion, so if you are pirating them, you're definitely not alone.

:D I was joking. I'm still going to watch them on Mlpstream.org or kisscartoon. Listen I don't have cable and Hasbro doesn't have them available to watch for free. So yeah pirating is my only option.

Then go ahead. After all, It's your life, sir. I can't exactly tell you what you can or can't do.  :squee:

Okay then. I guess I'll end up in jail for pirating. :D You know if Hasbro did put the episodes on their website to watch for free then I'd watch them their. But they don't so pirating is my only option.

nope, not really wrong.
new MLP episodes are so hard to come by legally outside of US, that it's basically your only option to watch them.
here in norway we still only have season 1-4 (one time we only had season 2 and 3), i think we're still missing the last EqG movie as well (maybe, haven't checked for a while).
can't get them through itunes either, because itunes doesn't even offer one single tv show here.
but i'm currently using a VPN to trick netflix into believing i'm in the US.

also: internet quality, the connection can sometimes be so bad that even 240p movies struggles with buffering.
so no, it's not wrong if you have reasons for it.

Pirating you can get in trouble for distributing, other than that idk. But alot of people do it so its not really a big deal, just when you do have money consider sending some of it hasbro's way as a thank you for the show.

If it's for personal viewership then I don't see what's wrong. To help support Hasbro, buy some of their merchandise and that way you can still feel alright. Most of Hasbro's dough come through the toy aisles and to watch episodes of internet/pirated/streamed MLP doesn't negatively effect them at all if you don't plan to make profits out of them.

Legally it's wrong. Morally, I think it's a lot more ambiguous.

You don't have to pay to watch the episodes on TV, and we consider that perfectly legal. That's because TV is funded through advertisements--so indirectly, by watching it live, you are paying for it. Your viewership produces revenue for the channel, and some portion of that is given back to the writers and producers.

However, if you're like me, then you always mute the TV whenever the advertisements are playing anyway. So, you're not really watching them, and there's no real point to having advertisements in the first place. In addition, recording the episodes on your DVR is perfectly legal. When you do this, you can easily fast forward through the advertisements, like they're not even there.

When you add in the fact that, on a show like MLP, almost all the advertisements are targeted towards children, it's a little difficult to see how pirating the show can be considered morally wrong. The show is, more or less, really just a clever advertisement in and of itself. It's meant to sell toys to little girls, and many bronies end up liking the show and buying those toys too. In the end, I see very little harm in pirating MLP in particular.

IvE only ever watched mlp episodes on pirating sites. I don't have cable. What do you think about it?

It's legally bad, but since you're out of options, I believe you get a pass  :fluttershy: . S7 will be actually my first season I'll see 100% legit  :icwudt:

Ponies get to feel better about themselves by posting how evil he is for pirating I suppose. Even though he said he doesn't have cable, which is completely legitimate, and that he might buy the dvds

How is the fact that he might buy the dvds relevant at all? I mean, there's an equally big chance that he won't buy them so I honestly fail to see your point.
