I'm not COMPLETELY sure that's what's going on, but it is plausible. So we shouldn't jump to conclusions just yet.

It could be fanart, or art made by the troll himself, or it could be real. We really have no real way of knowing.

We should remember that this is the internet and it would be very naive of us to think that there's nobody out there who would try something like this. Especially when 4Chan is in the equation.

UPDATE: According to some research, there's this thing called email spoofing. It is something people do to to forge emails. Usually this is used to get people to open it or to scam people, but it could also be used in this sense too. I'm not TOTALLY sure, but it is a strong possibility.

Actually, Moliminous had a video on youtube saying that the show's creators are paying attention to how fans are reacting to the leaks.  That's one of the reasons why I'm working on a kind of a proof-of-concept G-5 fanfic based on the information we have so far, and even a song (pretty basic) to start it off; I'd like to see if that gives the writers any help.  So...it's kind of not true that we have no control.

That's assuming the leaks are real; I know that faking all of this can be done, but if it is a hoax, it's a very thoroughly-thought-out one.

I'm hoping that the speculation above is right, that they're keeping G-5 in their back pockets and ready-to-fire, but that more G-4 can be and will be on its way.  It definitely feels too soon to pull the plug on G-4; we've gotten to know the mane 6 (or 7?) really really well, but it feels like we're just barely getting to know the world!

We know the world well, but it is just a small place in our eyes. It would be better if they set it out a little bit better and thought of a couple more places.

It's quite possible that this whole G5 thing was made in response to the season 8 leaks just to get reactions.

I'm pretty sure both things happened at the same time.  Not that it says what's real and what's not, as we still haven't been told anything official (aside from those obviously legit episodes).

 

Also, I find it funny how I don't wish for the show to end, yet I think my fan episode project is gaining people much quicker due to me using the "End of FiM" scare to my advantage.  So I both hate and am glad that these leaks happened.

Well the content so far of G5 is sticking close to G4 where they're keeping the focus on the same characters with tweaks. Now that's a clue they're gauging reaction.

It's not clear how close they'll stick to G-4, really.  I mean, when you create a new iteration of something that's had several generations and had decades to accumulate a mythos to it, there's a lot of stuff to pick and choose from, and you can insert your own ideas just about anywhere.

For instance, when they made G-4, they took elements from plenty of other generations of MLP:  the name of Ponyville had been around since G-2, Twilight and Applejack were from G-1, and the names Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, and Rarity were from G-3, but none of their personalities or abilities really exactly match up with what the previous generations were.  Sweetie Belle wasn't Rarity's sister in G-3, Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo were about the same age, Cheerilee was a storyteller but not a teacher...the list of differences goes on. 

Extrapolating from the differences between generations, we might tune into G-5's premiere to find out that Fluttershy is an outgoing toddler, Applejack is Rarity's mother, Shining Armor and Twilight aren't related by blood and are instead happily married with Flash Sentry as their son---you get the idea.  (Just so there's no confusion, I'm pulling these possibilities out of the air, not basing them on any of the leaked information, nor are they really things I have strong feelings about.) 

Bottom line:  there's no telling how close they'll stick.

Eh, depends what part of  G3 we're talking because at one point Rainbow Dash and Cheerilee were the same age and Scootaloo was Cheerilee's young sister.

Anyway. That does remind me and part of me hopes that a lot of the voice actresses (like Nicole, Kathleen, Andrea, Cathy, etc...) stay for the next gen but not to reprise their roles, oh no, we must continue the tradition of recasting them as different character. Like when Spike was Rarity, Trixie was Kimono, Diamond Tiara and Cadance were Breezies, Rarity/Luna was Minty/Wysteria, Mr. Cake was Spike...ah the sweet, sweet voice actor confusion between generations!

I  like Angry Fluttershy in FIM, for G5 I would like to see that voice actress play a hot-headed unicorn that uses magic against those that cross her. A character that is easily triggered and has to work on anger management.

Probably, but I don't think they'll work on G5 right now, but Transformers instead. While the leaked mails possess G5 info, they show G5 is still in early stages of development. I'm no animation expert, but I'm pretty sure the basic plot and final design of the characters need to be done before the animation can begin. They may be still brainstorming that

I have heard that there actually going to be new main characters for generation 5 instead of the Mane 6 from G4. I could post the comment in question, but Microsoft Edge won't let me for some reason. The comment was made on an Equestria Daily article about generation 5, and it says that the leaked emails were talking about completely new main characters.

For what I've seen in the leaks, the Mane6 were going to be the main characters, but that may be a case of making new characters using the Mane6 as a base. After all, they where still in early stages in development. Same has been done with the actual Mane6, as being taken things of earlier generations, while not being exactly their bases

"Okay, there is one BIG problem with this piece, and I've noticed this problem persisting almost every time Gen 5 gets brought up.

The Mane Six are NOT the main characters of G5.
It was stated multiple times in the leaks that G5 will have a whole new cast of main characters. The only significance of the Mane 6 redesigns featured in the leaks is just to test out the new artstyle, since they haven't even created the new characters for G5 yet. Now, it could be possible that the characters that were once the Mane 6 will show up as supporting or background characters in G5, but it has already been reiterated time and time again that they will not be the main characters."
