Well @Sherbert Music-Guard, you may know that my Waifu is Rainbow Dash, however, absolutely no one in my family knows that she's my Waifu. They know I have a lot of RD merch and Plushies, but not that she's my Waifu. And Personally, I don't have much reason to tell them anyways, it's none of their business.

I once tried to tell my mother about this, as she said I could tell her anything I want to (can't believe how wrong she was), but as I was telling her about waifu and such, she gave me an odd (wth) stare which was enough for me to indicate that I should stop right there. See then I gotta say no. For two reasons. The first one is that despite finding a good number of fictional characters cute and dateable my family would just not get it and I've neither the time nor inclination to explain it. Reason two is that despite saying I really like a character, think them cute and even would likely date them irl if they existed I just could not see them as a significant other. That sorta kills the ability to claim the term.
