My Little Pony: The Movie turns 2 years old.

it’s been 2 whole years since the MLP movie hit theaters. With the ending arriving so soon it feels fitting to reflect back on this milestone and what we accomplished as a community together. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. I myself really loved the new characters, exploring the world outside of Equestria. The wonderful songs and animation style and the heartfelt Mane 6 reunion at the end. It feels great to have this be the first new thread I made.

Still a beautiful, well rendered image of what Equestria can look like with a decent budget and toonboom. I bought the art book for the movie too :)

Storyline still sucks though :)

really late lol but I just finished reading Batbrony’s review of the film (I used to be a lurker here and i greatly enjoyed reading his reviews) so this seemed like a fitting time to post it here If for any reason you haven’t read it already.

Oh my goodness, thank you so much!  Sorry I don't write as many reviews these days but trust me I'm still around, just busier with more RL stuff nowadays.  But still a brony at heart, through and through. :muffins:

It was a beautiful movie that expanded the scope of the Equestrian mythos and world building. And it was refreshing to see a 2D animated film be given the theater treatment in this modern age.

But it wasn't without it's issues. The film was a strange watch. It felt less like a pony movie, and more like a fantasy film, with ponies thrown in it. And the timing of it wasn't the best either, coming out so late in the fandom's life cycle that the buzz wasn't as big as it could've been.

I mean I'm glad that it did happen, but the execution wasn't flawless.

Two long and marvelous years have surpassed since the release of a monumental achievement for the MLP franchise. A full theatrical film was made for a series that hadn't seen such a thing since the 1980s. That in and of itself is an extraordinary accomplishment.

It was a good film, and I think I need to rewatch it sometime soon – I only watched it two times the year it came out. I remember being disappointed with my country’s dub. I still think it’s a shame. I also remember that Tempest totally subverted my expectations. I thought she would be some kind of corny edgelord, but she turned out to be my favorite MLP movie character, and her song is one of my favorite MLP songs of all time. Also, my biggest issue with the movie remains unchanged: Fluttershy wasn’t there. Well, technically she was, but you know what I mean. I wish the movie was longer, so it could explore all the characters more.

Spoiler

And after two years it still has 48% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes. I never trusted those critics anyway.

Feeling so sad that the Movie ended once I finished watching it. Maybe because the show itself soon ends too. Or maybe i am not feeling well today after all.

Agreed. The Movie is very good and that score doesn't do it enough justice whatsoever.

Good grief, that's a lot of reading. Gotta carve out some time for this one.

Those two years definitely went by fast. This was one of the few films that I watched in the cinema, on the day of release. I really should watch it again once I have the opportunity. Yes, it had issues, but I enjoyed the vast majority of the content.

At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.

Yeah. It's one of those films in recent years where I feel the critics were too harsh on it (Along with Venom, Greatest Showman, Batman V Superman, Bright, The Accountant, Assassin's Creed, Glass, etc). The movie has flaws and I think it could've befitted from being longer, but it retains the charm of the series and has great animation, voice acting, and songs.

Yeah I wish Fluttershy (And Applejack) had more to do in the film (Which is one of the reasons why I think the film should've been longer). She still got one of the best moments in the film though when she talks to that Storm Guard.

Tempest also had the best song in the film with Open Up Your Eyes.

To think it's been two whole years already! I still adore the movie, I think it's such a fun adventure outside of Equestria with some catchy songs and cool villains, it's still satisfying to go back time and again to rewatch it, simply because it's a solid animated romp. Here's hoping for another movie soon, for G5 no doubt, and continued success for the pastel ponies!
