well it's in sugar cube corner and it's pinkie pie the one doing the magic now and probably will become the main protagonist/force of plot drive because she's the one that sells the more toys and because it's probably the favorite one among Hasbro executives since she's all pink, she's funny, crazy, loud, and very child-like.

I'll be more inclined to check it out when I learn who all is returning. Is it just the Mane 6 and Spike? I mean Trixie has a toy, so is Kathleen on board? Does that also mean Kelly and Starlight or maybe Nicole for not Celestia necessarily but maybe Cheerilee (CHEERILEE NEEDS MORE LOVE HASBRO)? What about males, like if we're at Sugarcube Corner now we already have Tabitha for Mrs. Cake but what about Brian for Mr. Cake? What about Peter as he's also done a lot of voices besides Big Mac.

There's still too much to be revealed before an investment call can be made.

By the looks of the teaser images, even though we have the same main cast, my guess is that Pinkie Pie might become the main character of this series, instead of Twilight. I'm not saying it's guaranteed she will.

I actually love the designs, but they remind me of the WLF Chibi figures which are my fav licensed figures sooo 

 

As with anything it will come down to story, acting, animation, and execution. Way way too early to tell, though I can understand if people don’t like the design. Works for me though.

I don’t like the art style - I feel like every time they change it from Friendship is Magic it turns out badly. And I’m honestly kind of burnt out on My Little Pony in general, but part of me wants to try this out just out of curiosity and contrarianism. It’s not like I think this brand has a high standard of quality to begin with.

The interesting thing they seem to be forgetting though is that the cartoon resurgence in recent years was mostly a direct result of FiM NOT doing the same thing that all other cartoons were doing. This turned the show into an unprecedented phenomenon. Now they're going to do a cookie cutter thing? The show risks just blending into the crowd and becoming white noise now.

It's just an ordinary brainless toy commercial oriented towards little girls that has less depth and twice the cynicism of a cookie-cutter corn video. One can't truly be disappointed or surprised by a corporation being a corporation, and personally, I much prefer watching half-vampire half-succubus cook sausages in her oven than My Little Pony GO with sheltered hipsters trying their worst to emulate lives of juvenile female normies. I mean, their current target is so small, I wouldn't be hit even if I jumped directly in front of the marketing cannon. As one of the worst toy ideas ever once told the meek melanated mascot: it's about watching the things you love, or something like that. I really don't care.

About this... It looks awful. Rarity's pose screams 'awful' to me. It's like they decided to give the character design direction to that guy that made those droopy ponies in the comics and it's just awful to me. Maybe they give a good writing to episodes but I doubt it, for some reason. That music... Ugh... If that sets the tone...

This isn’t directed at you, but is a general observation and is directed at people that use that art program as some form of pejorative.  When did this become a thing? I mean the constant talk that the modern aesthetic of some shows is calarts inspired? Can someone give me a source so I can bap the ignorant asshat over the head with a King Syndicate scepter? 
 

There has to be a source, because this garbage usually starts somewhere, like Doug Walker, or another popular YouTuber. Really would wish people would pay attention to cartoon inspired art history before they toss out pretentious myclunky like that. 

 

I’ll give you a hint of what I mean. “I’m not a monkey!” Now go digging and comparing and contrasting like a independent minded person and find the bloody truth. Takes a few days of solid research to find it but you’ll at least go, “Oh so this is where this art style came from?” 
 

Calarts is just as unoriginal as most corporate or larger animation studios.

I hear ya.  Although I don't feel quite as annoyed as you, I reckon.  Because it's a 4.5 spinoff type deal, I feel like it will be easy for me to ignore and not really "buy into it" as canon, know what I mean?  To me, Pony Life is to FIM as Star Wars Clone Wars is to the movies.  Now, I want to make it absolutely clear that I am not making a quality assessment of Clone Wars whatsoever.  Matter of fact, I've never seen it.  I'm simply pointing out that one can just stick to the Star Wars movies and not feel like they're missing out on some important canon elements in the spinoff cartoon.

I don't really care what they do with Pony Life, but I don't think I will watch.  I agree that they should just leave FIM alone.  Why can't anyone, ever just leave the ending to a franchise alone and let it rest in peace?  I very much loved the ending to FIM, and I wanted that final shot, with the closing book, to be the last time I ever saw a new official image of the mane 6, but now they're just gonna sully it and crap all over it with new B-canon type stuff.  Maybe it will actually be good (you never know), but that's not the point.  The point is that they're just gonna keep cramming in more and more and never let it rest.  There's never an ending to anything these days.  We can never just have a finale and let that be the ending.  Shows, games, movies, whatever.  They never leave anything alone anymore.  Drives me nuts.

Incidentally, a friend of mine told me that the creator of Calvin & Hobbs was/is extremely adamant that his creation just remain the original comic, and not have any spin-offs, sequels, merch, etc.  Apparently, as I understand it, if you ever see anything Calvin & Hobbs related that isn't the original comic, then it's unlicensed and unofficial.  I guess that guy is the only person left in the world with a shred of artistic integrity and dignity?  I've never even read Calvin & Hobbs.  Probably should.

I really, really wish that they would just leave FIM alone and not do anything else Pony related until G5.  Just give it a rest, make people be a little bit patient and wait, and really take the time to make G5 good.  When Rockstar was making Red Dead Redemption 2, did they make Red Dead Redemption 1.5 to tide us over?  No.  They just waited and took the time to make RDR2 properly.  Why can't stupid Hasbro do the same thing?  I'm interested in G5, but I don't want a f*ckin' hold-over 4.5 appetizer in the meantime.  I don't want a snack before the meal.  I just want to wait until dinner, Celestia dammit.

Or worse, "Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" (the only thing animated well is the intro, the show sucks asssssss). What if the commercial  is the only smooth animated example of this show? It gets me worried about G4's reputation rather than what will happen to G5.
