gaming Games you wish were never cancelled

I'll never forgive Disney (among many other things) for cancelling the Star Wars 1313, this demo made me extremely hyped back in the day. It had so much potential! What is that one game (or games) you rooted for but was never released?

Also, I know I would've played way less Pokémon if development for Halo DS had been finished. Such a missed oportunity as well; we'd probably have Master Chief in Smash now if this had happened.

The original MechWarrior 5. If some random asshole Chinese company hadn't sued for similar 'Mech designs (even though the designs had barely changed in the thirty or so years before that time), then the Xbox 360 would've gotten a MechWarrior game and the franchise would have never fallen into the hands of Piranha Games.

That's actual game play. It's kind of dumb because this version graphically looks better than MechWarrior 5 Mercs (which PGI shat out a few months ago), and this demo was made nine years ago. That's kind of embarrasing.

If we assume they just toned-down the UI for this trailer, it looks like it'd be really good. Barring the unrealistic reactor explosion (the reactors are FUSION, not FISSION) and the fact that they made the Atlas's AC 20 look like a popgun yet one PPC shot blew off its arm (the AC 20 is supposed to deal double the damage of an IS standard PPC. Even if the Warhammmer had Heavy PPCs, which is impossible since they weren't invented yet at the time this game was set in, that's still 3/4 the damage of an AC 20. The Warhammer should have died after just a few shots, if we're talking accurate lore), it looked great. Instead, PGI got a hold of the title after this project got cancelled, and now we won't get to see BattleTech's true potential as a simulator game for another ten years at least, probably. Sure, MechWarrior 5 Mercs isn't as bad as 4 Mercs (in most regards, anyway), but imagine how amazing an actual game development company could've made it.

I'm still upset about this if you can't tell. I actually get more upset as time goes on. The more I read about BattleTech lore, the more I wish Microsoft had sold the title to literally any other company. It has a ridiculous amount of potential, and it's suffering in the hands of PGI.

For me it's Project V13, a Fallout Game that would've gone north into my home state of Washington.

At the very least, I think it inspired people to make a thorough mod called Cascadia, but I'm only learning this just now,

Bully 2 and Sonic Chronicles 2.

Bully 2 was teased for years, got some development and then got cancelled out of nowhere. The death of the Chronicles series was due to everyone's favorite publisher EA buying Bioware and axing projects they didn't like.

I wish Warcraft Adventures: Lord of the Clans had never been canceled. It looked like a really interesting point and click adventure game and I am sure it would have been rather fun. I've seen extensive gameplay from those who manage to get copies.

The Xenosaga Series. I'll always resent Namco Bandai for dropping the ball on that brilliant series. Now it's completely dead and the creators are now making games for the Nintendo Switch, such as Xeno Chronicles, which pales in comparison to the real Xenosaga.

Small minded, short sighted gaming companies are the ruin of fun.

My Little Pony: Fighting is Magic. I don't usually play fighting games, but I'd definitely play this one.

I thought that had been renamed to "Them's Fightin' Herds" rather than cancelled?

TFH was developed on the basis on Fighting is Magic, but unfortunately with no relation to ponies because of the C&D order.

IIRC there was going to be a Kirby game on the GCN that was a successor to Kirby 64, which I adored. The Kirby series has been stale ever since, so I'm sad that didn't come to be.

A couple of very old ones:

Babylon 5: Into the fire. A space combat sim based on the best Sci-Fi franchise to ever have been.

Werewolf- The Apocalypse: Heart Of Gaia. Set in the same universe as Vampire- The Masquerade: Bloodlines and Hunter- The Reckoning. This would've been the original game to start off that universe.

WCW 2000/ Mayhem 2. Now this one got canned because WCW was off to the WWE by AOL-Time Warner for a pence. But considering the team behind that retooled what they had to make Def Jam: Vendetta, then Mayhem II was gonna be one hell of a game.

And then there was that one Daredevil game in development. If it was gonna be anything like the Spiderman PS1 game, it would've been a blast to play.

Bully 2. The original is one of my favourite games and they could've done so much with a second one. I still hope that one day we do get some sort of sequel.

At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.

the whole cancelling of cooking mama on the switch has got me SO MAD idk if they fixed it yet but ugh

They didn't cancel it. It just got released prematurely so they temporarily pulled so it can be completed.

Yes, and even so (if they had not cancelled), their upgrade to a new engine was not needed (Them Fightin' Herds). As you can see in thet screenshot, the pixel art is so stylish and cleaned-up. It's ridiculous how much quality (and potential) that meant.

I wish Sega hadn't dropped out of the console industry. Of course, it wouldn't have worked, but I feel like a lot of cancelled stuff happened that would have been important to the new generation, must have been lost.

Kameo 2. Oh what could have been. A lot of people feel that RARE completely lost their way the moment Microsoft bought them out but I disagree, at least somewhat. I think they had at least some good games that like like Grabbed by the Ghoulies and Viva Pinata, but there was also Kameo Elements of Power which was a 360 launch title. I really enjoyed it! Yeah it is a teensy bit jank in some areas and the controls were kinda stiff, but it had such a good gameplay setup that I would definitely have loved to see a sequel. Then nope. It went bye bye.

Another one? Titanfall 3. Now I am not 100% sure if they were even working on that game, but I really assume that they were until they decided to give up on that and shill out to the battle royale garbage. SURE, Apex Legends is a good game in that genre, but really? Now that's all they care about in terms multiplayer FPS games it seems. I would be fine with no additional sequel if Titanfall 2 didn't die off right out of the gate, though that is EA's fault for releasing it a week before Battlefield 1. Titanfall 2 is actually really good, but because of that terrible release schedule it didn't stand a chance to keep a multiplayer community going, unless all of these super cheap sales have helped. I think Microsoft should make it a Game with Gold or something to revive the game, would be sweet.

APB: All Ponits Bulletin

Now I know it’s back under a different company and ran as a free-to-play, but because of that, it feels cheap and has completely lost its vision. This game was supposed to be a Grand Theft Auto MMO game. It’s literally made by the original creator of GTA. It also had the customisation of Saints Row 2, but also a vinyl editor as complex as Forza or Black Ops. This game was so ahead of its time and it sucks to see how it failed and how so many other games are copying it. The concept of creating your own character, faction, clothing, logos and vehicles in an open world game with half the players being law enforcement is so awesome! Now it’s just a tacky pay-to-win game. :lostit:

Agreed. Hopefully this game would've been better than WCW Backstage Assault.
