health Dry hands?

Does anyone suffer from dry hands in the colder months? I have been, for as long as I can remember. I try to remember to moisturize every time I wish my hands, but to no avail. I always wind up with minor painful cracked skin and tiny scabs on the backs of my hands- even more so from even more excessive hand washing, and drying, thanks to the pandemic.

...and it always seems like my right hand suffers far worse than the left.

Are you hydrating properly? Dry air also means we need more water. And all the lotion in the world won't help if the water levels are low internally.

May the Friendship be with you.

Between my new job and riding my moped everywhere I'm in the cold for over four hours a day, and it's been wreaking havoc on my hands the past couple weeks, to the point where it physically hurts. I bought some dry skin lotion recently, which has been helping. Still a little dry, but it's not cracked an painful anymore.

I used to have really bad dry hands during the beginning of quarantine. Best advice I can offer is to wash your hands with slightly cooler water if you have to wash them excessively. Avoid using too much sanitizer as well cause that can also burn your hands.

Ya girl got some dyshidrotic eczema, so yeah I get dry skin. It was awful when I was working with food. I use the tub of cerave cream now. It may be stupid slimy, but it helps. I use it on my face as well, and I use prescription retinol. It's not the best feeling on my face, but it's better than the alternative. @ManaMinori your ring is fabulous. <3

Try reading the labels of the hand lotions you get, I've noticed that certain alcohol ingredients tend to dry my hands out quicker.  Look for oil based lotions instead, something with a lot of shea butter in it.  There are certain scented lotions that are complete beasts when you put them on before going to bed, look for whipped body butters on Etsy and you'll find some really great shops and it's a good idea to put those on before bed and when you wake up those hands will be nice and smooth(also it's great to support small businesses especially in these trying times).

I think it's good to look out for hand lotions without cetyl alcohol and if a lotion has any sort of alcohol in the first 3 ingredients, don't get it.

I think I said the wrong type of alcohol, just fixing that

Yes, I get dry hands every single winter, and it's only ever the tops of my hands and knuckles that get all dried out. Sometimes if I don't put any lotion on them they'll start cracking so bad that they start to bleed

I get dry hands every winter. I wash my hands a lot as it is, but they get really bad in the colder months for whatever reason. I use Gold Bond healing lotion because it does a good job without being too greasy. My face gets it worse than my hands. By November my cheeks get rather crispy, so I use the Gold Bond on my face as well, or in extreme cases, Jergen’s all-purpose face cream (which works just as well on hands). The Jergen’s is very greasy but if you apply it at night before bed and wipe off the excess in the morning you’re good to go.

Gloves help. It is more about having to wait for the water to reach warm temperature before washing hands, which takes just too long during the winter compared to the summer.
