What is the worst season of MLP?

Personally, season 9 is the worst. A lot of it was just boring and bland. What is your opinion?

I quit S9 halfway out of frustration, so I kinda default to that

S6 gets a dishonorable mention. Just the fact that they managed to make the episode where RD becomes a Wonderbolt the show's worst episode should have been impossible and alone is enough to get on my shit list, but oh boy they really said "hold my beer" in the same season multiple times

i'm gonna echo people and probably go with season 9. it actually had my favorite episode of the show (between dark and dawn), but a lot of the other episodes were pretty boring. i don't like the student 6 nor the school concept, so several episodes focusing on that in the final season felt like a waste of time.

I used to think Season 6 was god-awful, but man, when I was watching Season 8 and 9, this is when the show officially jumped the shark. And not in a fun way, but more reeks of desperation kinda way. Don't get me wrong, I still think Season 6 is a shit season, but at least with the concepts for Season Shit could've executed a lot better if Glimmieboo's boyfriend, Josh Haber, was NOT involved in the story editing process AT ALL. They could've pick M.A Larson as the official story editor for this show. But no....

Season 8 & 9, on the other hand? This has come to point where the show started to officially ran out of ideas. Say what you will about Season 3 and Twilicorn, but at least those didn't do much damage to the show compare to The Friendship School, Student Six, and Cozy Glow, and the Grogar Twist ever could. Oh, and in addition to character bastardization as well.

I'm definitely going to have to say season 8 is the worst season of MLP.

First off, it started off with the awful plot device known as the School of Friendship. Not only did this school go against what the show previously stated (friendship is not something you learn in  school, rather something you learn through experience), but it also took up numerous hours of the Mane Six's lives, despite them already having their own jobs and careers to worry about. Plus, episodes based around the school were often dull and lifeless (just like the SoF itself). There are many more problems that arose with the creation of the school of Friendship, but these are a few of the main ones.

Then there is the student six. These characters felt pretty bland and boring, and they just took time away from characters like the Mane Six. Nothing about their friendship was all that interesting either. The addition of these uninteresting characters was unnecessary.

Then there are the episodes, which are pretty poorly written. There are only a few episodes in the entire season I can say I actually somewhat liked, which is not good. The stories were written poorly, the characters were often butchered, and the overall feel was "meh". At times it seemed like the writers didn't even know how to write certain characters. It was just bad all around.

Season 9 was also a pretty rough for some of the same reasons, but at least that season had a few episodes I enjoyed. I am definitely not a fan of those last two seasons, especially season 8.

I went with the once popular choice of Season 3. It's not bad, but it's the unfortunate dwarf season with nothing I particularly care for (except maybe the debut of Sombra, but this isn't the incarnation of him that got me into the character). Season 9, I'm bored of it being overly pulverized. The "overarching plot" of it was a mess, but has any season of the show ever really had a great "overarching plot"? Also, the finale at least had some of the show's best action scenes and Between Dark and Dawn is one of my all-time favorite episodes.

I'm going to go in a different direction and say season one but for a technical reason. Compared with later seasons, the first one is primitive because of how simple things look and the special effects are lacking. Also, the voice acting wasn't as strong as it was in the later seasons but I attribute this to the voice cast not fully accustomed to their roles.

Season 6. Its best episodes didn't breach the all-time ranks for me. The worst? Oy gevault. When it got bad, it was really bad. Newbie Dash and 28PL are two of the show's all-time worst. Cart, PPOV, To Where, No Second Prances? Fuhgeddaaboutit! Not to mention, AJ, Dash, Rarity, and Starlight had their worst seasons by far here.

Season 6 by FAR. There some great episodes, but OMG when it got bad or mediocre it was just...ugh; a chore to sit through. Season 3 comes close, but that's mainly because of length.

I've always kind of felt this way too. Even with faults in the later seasons, I can't go back to the early ones and really hail them to high heaven because of how attached I am to the more fluid later episodes with the more expanded world I've always wanted to continue to see evolve and grow.

I don't like the term 'worst' since I love every season of FiM. 'Least great' would be better. My least favourite has always been season 1 since the show was still getting into its stride at this point. That said, the more I watch of season 1 the more it improves for me. I'm currently going through the whole of FiM in preparation for generation 5 and I liked season 1 considerably more than I used to this time round.

I 100 percent agree with you here. I haven't watched the entirety of Season 9, (I refuse to, because MLP: FiM is near and dear to me, and I'd go apesh*t if I watched the finale.) but I'd say Season 1 is probably my least favorite season, but that's okay, because a lot of great shows needed a season or two to fully establish themselves. (Also, I think saying "worst" is pretty harsh.)

Goody gumdrops, another chance to shart all over season 9, judging by the votes. I'm still on board, though - season 9 was an unqualified disaster, save for Frenemies, Sweet & Smoky, and Going to Seed. The rest of it just feels un-FiM.

You never saw The Last Problem? What is it that's making you not want to watch it?

I am going with Season 4 because the show and fandom was so broken after Season 3 and Equestria Girls, and Season 4's wing patching on a broken "Princess" Twilight Sparkle and Fluttershy's increased face size (animators, no!), cheaper animation on music numbers than the actual story boards released on YouTube months head (Apples To The Core, animators again, no!). Absolutely Season 4 was the worst!

Season 8 in my opinion had the worst mediocre\bad to good\great episodes ratio, some of the episodes were really bad. Still, overall I enjoyed the season, overall it wasn't bad at all, just compared to the rest (season 3 is slightly better) its not on their level.

As for the best, I will say season 7 had my top 2 episodes plus many other great ones while only a few I thought were underwhelming. Season 5 was amazing as well, I just think it didn't had the consistency of season 7. Season 9 had the best Premiere and Finale, all the big episodes were great, but it had a few disappointing episodes (you could see that the writers started to run out of ideas, I guess it was pretty obvious in season 8, this season managed to bring more flare and ideas because it was the last season and they went all out) as well. The first half of the 9th was easily one of the best halves in the shows run, the 2nd half was a notch below.

I'd personally say Season 6. I feel like after the series sort of reached a high for me with Seasons 4 and 5, watching Season 6 really felt like a huge step down in a lot of ways. While it did have some strengths (oddly enough, probably Spike's best season, and 'A Times They Are A Changeling' is probably one of the my favorite episodes), it really felt like most of the other episodes ranged from just alright to outright bad, with Newbie Dash in particular potentially being my least favorite episode of the show period.

I must say S9 was pretty bad overall. Sure, they at least didn’t mess up the premiere and finale, but most of their usual SOL episodes were boring, generic, and out of o place for the FINAL SEASON . Really, only stand outs were Bic Mac and Sugar Belle marrying, anything relating to the Legion of Doom, and the finale itself. I can’t even remember what happened there otherwise
