Best and Worst Emotions

Just curious. What is, in your obviously correct and inarguable opinion, the best and worst emotion that a human may experience?

For me, the worst would be dread, there is no better psychological inhibitor and dread erodes confidence like its nothing.

The best would be gratitude, since it adds to your self-worth, and is indicative that you are going in the right direction.

You make it as short or as long as you want, but I would advise a post cap at 4000 words, it's just an opinion, not a thesis for a psychology major.

Complete loneliness, even to the extreme point of feeling like you are unnecessary in the world, is one of the worst and most painful things you can experience, both for itself and the fact it can lead to depression and many other negative mental states very easily.

Best I'd say is love, just feeling loved by someone. Sibling, parent, guardian, friend, lover, whatever. That warm, tingly feeling that makes you smile is a great feeling.

Best - Contempt/Stoicism. Shows that you are a dependable person who can keep calm and relax when the going gets tough, and displays how well you can handle a situation when you are confronted by extreme circumstances.

Worst - Any extreme version of an emotion. Extreme happiness will annoy some, scare others, or piss them off; extreme anger just frightens/angers others; extreme sadness irritates a person into leaving them or forces them to giving sympathy when they can't be fucked; extreme jealousy will force others away, along with extreme arrogance, extreme passiveness will irritate someone b/c the person won't make any decisions, and so on.

Best- Happiness

Worst- Depression (goes through a lot of depression)

Technical and unrelated: I think depression is not actually an emotion, but rather a condition caused by several adverse emotions over a period of time.

Best: Love

Worst: Lost love

Endless cycle of dafuq.

Recoil. Edited by Whiteshade

"What is, in your obviously correct and inarguable opinion, the best and worst emotion that a human may experience?"

Worst: sarcasm :P I kid, I kid

Best: Humility. No one likes an arrogant asshat.

Worst: Apathy, or lack of emotion. If you don't stand for anything, you'll fall for everything. Also it's annoying to deal with people who are bland lumps of grey who don't want to do anything about anything.

For the best, I'd say happiness/love, and that sense of ease you get when everything is right at that moment.

For the worst, I think it's anger. Anger is very good at clouding logic and your ability to think rationally, and can be hard to reign in. It can also lead to doing things you'll later regret.

Best Joy

Worst Sorrow

Nice and simple, I like it.

I think all of them are of equal importance. I can't imagine a life where I don't feel sad or where I don't feel envy. So I'm going with the agnostics of answers and saying they're all equally important and that none of them are better than any other.

This one is a tad less creepy. Wouldn't you agree?

I'm not sure about the best, but the worst is powerlessness. Powerlessness against someone who wants to harm and/or degrade you or those close to you.

Best: I suppose it's relief, since it's such a rush. Even if it does last about a second.

Worst: Guilt. I guess you could also call this dread, but it's awful either way.

My 2 views on this  Trying to choose something to fit something in both Best and Worst. (I find it harder to choose worst)

Best: Sadness

To experience those moments is such a worthy moment (to me at least. I generally "enjoy" the experience it creates)

Like not knowing how much you appreciate something until you lost it. That is one of the best ways to know how much you loved something. To know how good you actually had it.

There is no left without a right.

One could say someone cannot experience true happiness until they have experience true sadness.

Almost always it takes 2 sides (2 extremes) to create a world in between. With only a right or left there is no middle ground. Knowing both sides helps you find your own place in between them.

Worst: Disgust

The world is full with different personalities, people, ponies and disgust can make you blind to the values of others.

Disgust seems a lot more like a... a selfish thought, something you should keep for yourself. Hiding it from others.

It's perhaps also a lot about the way you bring it. You should do so with consideration towards other's values.

Not showing extreme disgust when someone else is genuinely enjoying something, like food or an activity. It will only tell more about yourself then that person.

Instead you could simply mention it's not something you like or enjoy.

Knowing your values are those of your own and knowing others have their own as well. Not trying to change those by forcing your own ideas on others.

Once you have taken that step of tolerance it's up to the other to give it back and accept your views as well. But that's their task, their problem. You have done your part.

I'm always sorry.

Did not want to bother you

I'll just sit over here

I consider no emotions to be better or worse. I think humans have to experience the full range of emotions to appreciate the others. No I don't like loss, sorrow, dread...but it's nice to know I am alive enough to be affected in both directions. If I can feel bad enough to feel sorrow then I am capable of feeling that much joy

just my opinion
