anyway, hats off to whomever mentioned redeads in Windwaker. I finally replayed that years ago and jesus I was in near hysterics by the end of that dungeon.

 

and though I never actually finished it, I have heard tell of Pikmin 2's all-frightening water dungeon monster. The big thing with the roller. I didn't want to sacrifice all my 'min, so I was like: Yeah. No.

 

Annnnnd because I'm a Nintendotard, in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2, essentially monster houses and the SOMETHING IS STIRRING if you sit on the same map too long, which kills you without warning. Both at first experience scared the daylight out of me.

Another one has hit my mind, the Stalkers from Dead Space 2. Fast things, creep me out. Especially fast things that make high-pitched shrieking noises. The way the game introduced this new necromorph type was handled very well and I had to pause the game for a bit while waiting for their reveal. Brilliant enemy from the game, I love them.

 

Dead Space 2 - Stalker

 

 

Here's a paragraph from the Dead Space Wiki that describes them:

 

"Arguably the most intelligent and opportunistic Necromorphs, Stalkers work in groups to distract and flank their prey. They will run around, hide, and peek behind cover, trying to lure Isaac into exposed areas. When they attack, they charge towards their prey while emitting a high-pitched screech with their limbs tucked behind them for protection and/or for streamlining. Stalker pack members will take turns in attacking him when they feel Isaac has let his guard down, then flee before he has a chance to strike back. They specialize in mind games and hide and seek tactics. They are also quite resilient; while charging, their skulls and torsos are able to absorb dozens of pulse rounds without disrupting their attack, even on normal difficulty. They are redoubtable foes, and in large numbers or paired with Exploders arguably the most severe threat in Dead Space 2."

 

Finally, here is the video of the first time they appear. Goodness, this was the scene I was referring to. I love this part with all my heart. I highly recommend watching it!
