How open are you about ponies?

Im open to my friends about it, They know but i dont force it on them. I rarely wear anything relating to MLP unless im at comic con or Acen. I am a little embarrassed to walk into hot topic and buy something pony related though. Is it just me or does anybody else feel that way too?

I'm pretty open about being a brony. I wear pony shirts every so often, and my purse is the Derpy messenger bag that is sold at Hot Topic. But I don't really force my love of ponies on people. If I see someone wearing another piece of pony merchandise, I tend to smile at them but I don't go up and initiate a conversation unless they talk to me first. A bit shy about things like that.

I...I am kind of open; it's not my fault that I became an open. My dad found me writing, this, and well, I became open because he was so impressed. Sadly the people who know are my parents, my brother, my dad's longshoremen co-workers, my dad's boss, my dad's other co-workers, my mother's co-workers, my mother's boss, all I am happy don't give a crap, I am now forced to send a story I wrote to my contact teacher, I could go without that. Though I am open to my parents about that. I am writing a song, apparently my brother is willing to help, so is my mother's boss in some sort of way. I am glad my parents/friends/parent's friends don't give a crap.

(P.S sometime I have to go to a polka party). >_>  I am not happy.

I don't really like to force it down other people's throats xD But if they ask I let them know etc. My mother knows I watch it and even own a plush etc. Most people don't mind, except my friends ex-boyfriend who enjoyed making fun of me but I didn't mind too much, I had ways to get him back. c: Lol

I do not tell my family or friends because I do not want rumours going around that I am gay.

But anyone on the Internet I am fine with telling.

It's just another show for me, nothing I need to go and tell the whole world about.

And I don't like clothes with pictures or slogans on them, unless it's for a worthy cause, so...

If someone ask then I'll admit it, no biggie.

I'm fairly open about it, but I don't run around telling everypony. My boyfriend found out because it was in my Netflix queue and he said he was ashamed of it at first, but it's starting to grow on him. I have a few close friends that know. But everypony I've told has been very judgemental sad.png

Open with family and friends but not the  public per se. I'll gladly go into the shops and by the comics (got the celestia one and the Cadance/Shining Armour one today in fact.)

If figure if they don't know the difference already there is little point in trying to exlalin it to them.

I would be open if i knew that the people that I was talking to are either bronies themseves or if they had an open mind. --- My family knows and they all hate it...,. my future wife even says she is embarrassed.... I hope those walls come down eventualy.

I really don't know what to say about that. I've said a billion times in this topic and others just how disappointed I am in people who honestly hold it against anyone for liking a show, let alone an innocent cartoon show that has interesting characters and a positive message. It's crazy to think how hard people can judge you for liking a cartoon, even those who have known you for a while, especially close friends. I mean, if you're close friends, how can suddenly finding out your buddy likes ponies make you harshly judge them? I won't speak badly of your friends or boyfriend since I don't know them, but I am disappointed that they are judging you for liking something so innocent.

Hate it? They... hate it because you like a cartoon?

The logic these people go through is just... I can't fathom it.

They're your future wife and family though, so I won't speak ill of them, especially since I don't know them. As you said, hopefully they'll get over it and accept you for what you are.

As I mentioned in this thread quite some time ago, I've never tried to hide the fact that I'm a brony from anyone. However I did have an interesting experience a couple weeks with this when I started discussing the fandom and BronyCon with an unlikely person.

November 4th was the day I called the Hilton to make a room reservation for BronyCon. After telling the lady what dates I would need, I told her that I was with BronyCon so I could get the discounted rate. As she was making my reservation, she asked me to explain what BronyCon was. She had never heard of it or our fandom. I gave her the short version of what we are and how massive the convention is. She sounded genuinely interested.

I don't exactly brag about it, but if someone brings up   ponies I won't be shy about joining the conversation.

A few weeks ago I was at work and a higher boss in the office (senior VIP type boss without going into heavy details) happened to be talking about how he'd just recently found about bronies from his nephew. He asked me if I'd heard of it, and I'm just cautiously like "Yeah...".

Next question is, "Are you a bronie?"

Without wanting to lie or have that bit of my life come out at work (I like to keep a low profile), I just kinda sidestepped it with "I know a few bronies".

Every time I think about that little exchange I wonder if it was coincidence or if he knew more than he let on.

So I guess I'm not as open about it as I'd like to be. I don't like drawing attention to myself when I can help it. Offline, at least :3

I tell people if they ask, and I've brought it up a few times, but I don't need to let the whole world know.

However, I'm getting an Applejack shirt in the mail shortly, and I do plan on wearing it, so you can pretty much throw everything I said out the window once that happens. :P

I used to hide it everywhere - even online - but I'm more open about it now. The way I see it, people are always going to find something to criticize, so what's the point in trying to please everyone? It's impossible. Instead, be comfortable with yourself and what you like and just learn to ignore them.

I see absolutely no reason to hide my liking of the show from anyone. If someone disapproves, I really don't care.

I'm sort of open about being a brony,  I will wear shirts and just have a hoodie over them but leave the hoodie, I changed my facebook profile pic, so by now I'm assuming most of my family already knows; however,  I'm not to open about it when I'm at school.
