Free people have guns. Slaves do not. Why would we trust the police or military with guns, but not our friends and neighbors? Government is the greatest evil mankind has ever created. The check against the evils of government is a well armed population. A single man can kill perhaps 50 people. But it takes a government to kill millions.

asking us why we have guns is like asking people why they collect cards, cars, coins, stamps,

most people have them because they LIKE guns and want to collect them.

I absolutely love 18th-Century history. Though the laws seem fuzzy, I think I might be able to purchase a musket at my age. I'm going to do some research, and if I can... LIFE COMPLETE.

Does anyone else here own a musket?

Depending on exactly where you live, blackpowder weapons may be under different rules than modern guns. Same with stuff like crossbows and the like. The laws are often rather vague around antique weapons.

I used to have a musket, but I had to sell it many years ago when I was moving across the continent. There are also some rather vague laws around transporting firearms, and since I was actually moving to a different country I decided to not take the risk as it was a relatively cheap reproduction, and not the style I actually wanted. I wanted a carriage gun. Never did pick one up, as other things became more important financially.

I'm not really a gun person as far as owning them(not much use for them around where I am) but I do have a weird old revolver I kept because it was my grandfathers(it even has a questionable home made trigger on it). It's a reproduction Single Action Army, but it's chambered in .22 instead of .45.

My friend that is into guns thinks it might be a Ruger of some kind because the grips have their emblem.

Weird customs are always neat. Can you post a picture? It might be assembled out of mismatched parts, so I'd take it to a proper gunsmith to be gone over before trying to use it, just in case. smile.png

I don't feel at ease with guns.

But well... my father have an old shotgun, which is not working anymore. We've got some airguns, nothing more.

I used to compete with air rifles, won a medal, then I stopped because of back pain.

I currently don't have any use for these guns, so I guess I won't waste money in this.

It's a bit disturbing to see all these people with guns. Why do you have them, do you feel more powerful with them? Or I guess I'm not as materialist as everyone here.

Same reason a lot people(like myself) collect swords and knives, it's mostly for the cool factor and people enjoying taking them out to the range, shooting and showing them off.

I have allot of air soft guns, but i wouldn't say real guns is my specialty. I have a ppsh electric blow back with round drum, anisraeli Galil as my main weapon, a standard M4, and a Thomson(i wish i had a round drum). My brother has a few neat guns too but my favorite of his is his en-field. as far as real guns go i have a 22 rifle and pistol, a Springfield bolt action rifle with scope, a few pump action 12 gauge and 30-6 shotguns, nothing to special but my cousins who served in the military pack allot of heat, i really enjoy shooting their entire arsenal of high quality weapons :P. I am more of a bows and knifes person, i have a really nice re-curb and an even nicer compound bow. As far as knifes/swords and other close range weapons i have some brass knuckle i stole off a tranny, a few katana's and straight blade swords, a butterfly knife(i wanted to make it fluttershy themed XD), and a few normal locking tactical knifes.

That really does look like it was assembled out of miscellaneous parts. A type of 'Saturday Night Special', to use the phrase I grew up with. I'd be really careful with that thing, as the laws around home-modified weapons are... very confusing at best no matter what country you're in. img-1945494-1-smile.png

I only have one gun and it's nothing special. Just a Remington 830 .12 gauge shotgun. I like shotguns because they're just so freaking cool, and when I got the shotgun in Resident Evil 1 it was like a god send.

But it's a little tough to just carry around a shotgun for self protection. Personally I do prefer pistols. One day I'd like a .44 Magnum. They're just so beast. One particular gun I'd like to buy after I finish school and get started with my career is a Beretta 92FS. Again, this really has to do with my nostalgia and Resident Evil 1, although Jill's gun was an M92FS. But I can't find one so either it doesn't exist or it isn't available to the general public.

In any case, I kinda want to get a handgun and a concealed carrier's license so I can just walk in public with my handgun. Practice my rights under Oklahoma's open carry law lol Maybe scare some folks just having it in the holster. Also, odds are I probably won't be robbed so readily if someone sees this pistol strapped to my waist lol I just probably can't go into many places with it. You can't open carry anywhere firearms are prohibited. Even if you could, if the store owner didn't like it, they can simply ask you to leave and if you don't, they can slap you with trespassing. :P

I refuse to let go until you're impressed.

I think we own 2 handguns in case of emergencies, but other than that nothing. In the future, I would like to own a FN Five-Seven, preferably with the desert style of paint. As is this one. I'd only like to have it because it's a fun gun to shoot and if that zombie apocalypse ever happens.

Yes, I know, yet another gun topic from this forums number 1 gun nut, but really what all do you own? Of course if you don't feel safe disclosing that information on a public forum than feel free to ignore the question.

I don't have to0 many actually, but a few non the less,

A DPMS Panther Oracle AR-15 chambered in 223-5.56

Ithica Model 37 Featherlight 20 gauge shotgun

Stoeger Model 2000 shotgun

Henry Golden Boy 22

And of course the most common 22 their is, a Ruger 10/22!

So, hopefully someone else didn't already start this topic, I checked and didn't see any, so lets hear it!

Well, considering I can't actually legally own any guns yet, my "collection" is rather small. But that being said, I shall share anyway.

Ruger 10/22 (I gave my dad the money to buy it for me)

Remington 870 express 12 ga. (a gift from my Grandfather)

Ruger .308 (just a Christmas present, but my first gun)

I don't even have a gun, yet. But I was planning on owning just a simple 22lr rife or a shotgun. Thinking about getting a Remington 870 or a Merlin xt-22 I'm not really into guns though. So these are just some common beginner ones.

As your first gun I would recommend the Ruger 10/22 to anyone, it is one of the most common 22's out their and I have not had a jam that I can remember with it using the stock 10 round magazine.

Hey man, thats pretty good, it actually took me years to get the few guns that I have now, and .308 is a pretty decent sized round, don't know weather your into hunting or not, but it should kill just about anything you aim it at as long as you have decent shot placement.

So I'm not even a gun owner, but I have to admit I have always had an interest in shotguns above other weapons.

  • They are big and unwieldy, which is fine for home defense but bad for pocketing one for premeditated murder.
  • From their power, they are somewhat scary, so if it's one gun vs another, it could end the fight before it begins just with the cocking sound (in fact, there's a story of an officer doing just that)
  • They are low-penetration, so you will only hit the target in front of you; the shot won't go through the wall, across the street, through two more walls, and into the skull of an innocent bystander.
  • They can take a number of other shell types as ammunition, inclusing long-range darts or slugs. Mainly, you can fill them with non-lethal rounds like Beanbags. (There was also an episode of Burn Notice in which they used water rounds to disarm bombs and knock people down, which could just be fiction)

Now to list the weapons that I have stored at my parent's house, because I didn't feel like moving them around to my shitty un secured apartment.

AR-180 5.56x45 (and yes it is the original metal upper and lower, not the ar-180b with the polymer lower)

H&K sl8 5.56x45 (this was was stupidly expensive, and thus is why I do not store it in my apartment)

H&K 41 7.62x51 ( It has some weird mag feeding issues, thus why I never use it)

H&H 375 magnum (No elephants in seattle, so no point in bringing it with me)
