To be honest, I don't really hate much of the fandom. I however do hate Grimdark, I find it so damn creepy. Then there are those 'feral bronies' that spam MLP pics and cause 'flame wars.' I know we all love the show, but you can't get too pasionate about it.

I hate the fanatic bronies who bring up ponies in places where it's completely irrelevant or call people "haters" because they don't like the show. The same goes for shoving it down other people's throats. They don't seem to get it that exactly that is the reason why people hate the fandom. Most people who don't like the show (except these who are extremely stereotypical) are neutral at the beginning, but then someone thinks he should "convert" that person. It's like cereal: If you eat the same over months, you start hating it. Or if something else that you don't like gets extremely popular and pops up everywhere you go, you'll end up hating it aswell. They should just respect other people's opinions. You don't like the show? That's allright, I won't blame you. And I hate extreme anti-cloppers who cause arguments inside the fandom, which is completely unnecessary.

Are you aware that disliking something you don't understand is literally the definition of being a bigot? Not saying that you are, but ignorant hatred is bigotry.

 

The thing with the internet, and people in general, is that you are going to find Light near everything on it. R34 isn't just a witty joke, it exists for a reason, and just because you find something unappealing does not mean that it is objectively harmful or wrong. Lawful Jordo did a wonderful bit in regards to "cloppers" and the psychology of emotional and physical connection. 

 

Clopping is like any other form of sexual attraction, completely harmless and healthy so long as you don't shove it in peoples faces, at which point it isn't the cloppers you have a problem with, it is the fact that people are forcing their fetishes on you.

Whats wrong with grimdark? I remember way back in 2011 when I first joined the fandom, I would read tons of grimdark fanfic's. Why? Because there fun to read, its like reading a horror story.

 

Maybe its just personal preference, but I don't see anything wrong with grimdark stories. Its a type of genre, theres nothing wrong with it. Even if it goes overboard, the point is to scare you (but going overboard kind of kills the effect).

I hate how the Brony community is so protective about Derpy and how they reacted to the change. I'll admit, that change did send off a bad message, but we've could have been more civilized than this.

I don't want to give long, winded explanations but I can easily list the things that I really wish weren't part of the fandom, or were at least less prevalent.

 

1) Tulpas- the first thing that came to mind.

 

2) gore fanart- disturbing enough on it's own, but it's popularity with bronies really gives it a harder push down the rabbit hole. The fact that Scootaloo seems to be their favorite only makes matters worse.

 

3) clopping- could people maybe just discuss it a little less openly? I mean, all things considered, it's still porn and I'm not sure if it being cartoon pony porn makes it any more appropriate to talk about on unrelated threads (not much of a problem in this forum, though). Other than that, I have no issue, except I'm really confused by what seems to be a growing number of cloppers overly concerned with pony genitals looking zoologically correct...

 

4) people getting too emotionally invested in fandom discussion and totally losing their cool (this goes for every fan of anything ever since the beginning of time).

 

5) fedoras.

Why? I enjoy grimdark because it is fun to see situations that would never happen in the show. Also, I'm a huge horror fan and grimdark is like horror.

 

And grimdark stories are not automatically horrible. Some are actually written quite well. I'm guessing you just don't like the shock and gore of grimdark, which is fine. They're not for everyone.

The fact that almost everyone went and got mad because they changed derpy's voice annoys me, yet the fact that they changed her voice for no apparent reason is also rather annoying.

The fact that Twilight is an Alicorn annoys me and it also annoys me that I heard no songs from pinkie in s3

The fact people call Iron will an antagonist is rather annoying and the fact there is so much hate for equestria girls before people even see the episode is annoying.

There is no purpose for the crystal kingdom.

The fact that people tried to track down Yamino's address just for saying that Derpy is offensive.

BUT: It's not soccermoms who want to take down Derpy, but ratber, ANTI-MLP guys trolling the fandom(It's on TVTropes) (Both are stupid, in my opinion)

You REALLY don't have to pay attention to that side of the fandom if you don't want to but part of tolerance and community is not bashing on your fellow bronies if they do. Liking MLP is inherently not a "normal" thing and if you wanna sectionalize the fandom into weirdo's and non-weirdos you're already doing it a disservice. If you're at a point where you think sex and homsexuals are gross and not normal that's an opinion but a lot of people have come to terms with both of those and like the different aspects of the fandom. Certainly no one is forcing you to check out what you dislike and you can steer clear of clop, grimdark, and homosexual elements if you want to. Please do so if it bothers you.

 

I guess what i dislike about the fandom are those who don't see diversity and tolerance as key factors of our fanbase.

Yeah the infighting is pretty bad even if it's not as bad as some communities. I've seen a few recent tumblr posts where a younger musician lashed out at few well known bronies being out of touch and non communicative with those below him (which i see happening incidentally) and while Tarby and a few others wrote thought provoking replies back a few totally tore into him savagely. Only thing that was missing was the "go kill yourself" signature. Really makes me upset when someone's provocative post makes one that's even more mean spirited in response. Winning an argument by trying to destroy your opponent is not the answer.
