Season 3 not as good as season 2?

I think this season is great, but I wasn't waiting months and months for it! I prefer the slice of life episodes to the giant epic finale episodes too, and these ones have been charming! 

There can never be enough Pinkie Pie. Though I'm wondering if they'll ever have her mane go flat again. We know that feelings of abandonment can cause it to go flat, but what else can?

Okay, I kind of agree with you.

 

Apparently her whole childhood can make her mane go flat! I think once is enough--I don't want any more of her episodes to centre around her being psychotically depressed and abandoned! She was just the right amount of sad in Too Many Pinkie Pies.

I think or at least I hope that they are just having a ruff start. With Sleepless in Pony Ville it looks like it could improve. I agree there haven't been as many memorable moments, but hopefully that will change.

It think season 3 is on par with  what  season 2 had set up. I think for the most part most fans of any television show (not just mlp) expect the seasons to get better as the series progresses. Because of that and the fact that season 3 was pretty hyped up it m ay cause you to think season 3 isn't as good as season 2..... that's what i think anyway.

I see no evidence that season three is a step down in quality. In fact as far as I can tell all indications would lead to they opposite conclusion. The more I watch that opener the more well put together I notice it is. People really seem to put the focus on the villain trying to placehim in a different context then he was meant to be placed into. In other words people are judging the episode based off their own expectations rather than by episodes own merit. In fact in many cases I seem to notice that people almost seem to actively avoid mentioning the positives of the episode.

 

It seems as well that it was also a emotional reaction to certain rumors that spread like wildfire.

Maybe some episodes didn't have what people were expecting or looking for.  Look at too many PInkie Pies.  I personally think the watching paint dry test was too risky to use as a way to find the real Pinkie Pie.  But at least that was an attempt to be entertaining.  To go and identify original Pinkie because she was the only sullen pony who wasn't yellng fun fun fun would've been logical, safe, and very boring.  

 

I also haven't noticed a reduction in quality.  But then, maybe I'm not the best judge.  Many Powerpuff Girls fans thought the quality of that show dropped a lot in season 5 but I personally didn't see it until season 6.  By that time, it was clear the cartoon had run its course and Cartoon Network decided not to order a 7th season.

To be totally honest, I actually like S3 just as much as S2, if not more then S2. I mean the biggest letdown for me is the 13 episodes thing. I think it is on equal if not better grounds then S2.

I think its just its not had as long of a time to set into peoples brain so it feels very different. If S3 where around for as long as S2. It would feel different in your head, its hard to explain but thats how I feel about new stuff in TV shows and the like.

 

but yeah some of my favorite episodes now would probably be S3 episodes.

 

Then again i love the show as a whole so much its hard to hate it

No complaints here. I found that this season is becoming my favorite. This seaaon was highly speculated before the season began so it seems to me people are just disappointed that what hey wanted is not in it.

well i like these season but i dont like these season but im not gonna judge till i see all episodes but so far

 

reasons why i like=

lots of pinkiepies = awesomnes

rainbow dash is starting to be well nicer

pinkiepie has more depth makes me like her even more

doctor whooves had a bow tie and a pear coustume on  the most thing that id say is defetially for pega sister and bronys 

 

reasons why i do not =

scotaloos episode i found pretty boring and only slightly amusing no pinkiepie and the only comic relif is rarity and sweetibelle..

pinkiepie is shut up in the magic duel by a third wall trick....

twilight broke third wall making it not a pinkie thing now its a mostly pinkie thing

the season preimere was almost only focosed on twilight ..... no mane six help they just had to stall ponies..

scotaloo loses her scooter

no derpy

and doctor whooves is wearing a pear !!!! (good and bad lol means it either 11th or fob watched not 10th i love 10th through it culd be  a werid form of therapy:P )

Can't really agree with the OP at all. If anything, I've found numerous of the episodes to have completely memorable moments. Let's try to keep in mind that something can be memorable, and still have been predictable. The two are only related if you see them as such, personally. I don't think S3 as a whole is better per say, but there's been two or three episodes that have wowed me far more than anything previously done.

Put simply, I think Season 3 is actually just as in depth as the other seasons, if not more so. 

 

I believe even DHX media made the comment that working on only 13 episodes allowed them to put more quality and time into the making of the show/episodes of season 3. 

 

But let's face it: A lot of the great plot foundations the show had in the beginning have been exhausted, such as the use of the Elements of Harmony in battle. But, take it with a grain of salt. We may just be getting too used to the show. There is some element of the show being predictable, but I am sure the animators and story artists will attempt to "wow" the fans anyway they can. 

 

With that said, the only episode I found "off" was the season premiere. But Too Many Pinkie Pies, One Bad Apple, Magic Duel, and Sleepless in Ponyville were all top notch in my opinion! And with that said, I am definitely looking forward to Wonderbolts Academy this week!

Though many fans claim to have had issues with the Season 3 opener, It's one of my personal favorites. It was fresh, and I liked that it brought in Shining Armor and Cadence right away. As for the episodes, I think they're as good as any from the last seasons.

I strongly disagree with you. Season 3 is by far my favorite season. I'm not completely sure why, but everything about the episodes just seems... Cleaner. Also, I think the opening premiere was the second best of all of them(First goes to Discord). I've seen huge improvements in quality, but maybe that's just me. On a side note, has anypony else noticed that the show seems aimed more toward bronies in S3?(Once again, maybe it's just me)

I agree with the people who say that it's too early to tell. So far Season 2 has probably had episodes that were better than anything in season 3 but then again, season 2 also had episodes that in my opinion were worse than anything in 3. I'm reserving judgment until the season ends.

Season three is just mostly episodes that didn't make it to season two, so there's no new stories made for season three. The only I liked is Wonder Bolt Academy out of the whole season.

Well we are more than halfway through, and I must say I completely agree. So far to me there have only been a few great episodes(The Crystal Empire parts 1 and 2, and Wonderbolts Academy which not everyone has seen yet) and one amazing episode(Magic Duel). The rest have been good, but have been either too dull(Sleepless in Ponyville, I don't care what anyone else says, it was not great) or too predictable(Too Many Pinkie Pies, One Bad Apple) to satisfy me completely. I guess it depends on what you want out of the show, and what I watch it most for is entertainment, and to me season 3 just hasn't completely delivered on that front yet the way seasons 1 and 2 did for me. We'll just have to see with the rest of season 3, but so far, even though I'm enjoying season 3, I'm enjoying it the least.

I think it's a pretty good season so far, but then again, we're half-way through and we don't know about the finale rumours and the Twilight alicorn speculation, so the finale for me has to be pretty darn good, it's going to be hard to beat This Day Aria, it never ever gets old :')

Plus, this series has had a CMC ep AND a Scootaloo ep, which also confirmed that Scootalove is in fact canon.

So pretty awesome series so far, the Rainbow Dash ep really wasn't a let down either

I'm really enjoying season 3 so far. Other then the first two episodes, I find the rest of the episodes very strong and solid. I think I may prefer season 3 over season 2 but I won't make that final judgement until I finish season 3.

I cannot put my finger on what exactly it is, but season 3 has had a different FEEL to it than either of the others. I have not idea what it is about it, and I'm also not sure whether it's a good or a bad thing, but it's been bugging the heck out of me... I think the season has all been very good, but this sensation that something is either missing or new that I can't quite discern is seriously bugging me... Anyone having a similar feeling about it?

Season 3 is really awesome to me, but, i must agree.

 

Season 3 compared to Season 2... Well, is lacking abit, but we must remmember that sequels are never as good as the originals, (Ironicly season 2 not being the original season 1 aswell). I think season 3 will do great, and then let season 4 take over.

 

Maybe it's because season 3 has almost twice less episodes then the other seasons... Many seem to not like this fact...
