Yeah so, Meghan McCarthy has gone ahead and said on Twitter that the Season 4 finale is one of her proudest achievements of the show:

Meghan does seems to be pretty good at ending things off with a bang! Just like the season 2 finale; she will most likely provide a very interesting season 4 finale as well.I'm not sure if this is a vague hint of Changelings returning though as she could've just said something else and not limit herself to just This Day Aria.

Looks like they will be going on a three week long hiatus for the Christmas season.  I'm not surprised, though I believe they could squeeze in one more episode.  Probably won't hear about episode 405 until December.

Hey, as long as they don't tell us about what the episodes will actually be about, I can take it. But I think we all know that they will. Christmas 2012 was a chore to get through knowing I'd have to wait a month for more Discord in an episode I was totally unsure of how it would turn out. If you're a fan of Discord, you don't just hear that Fluttershy is gonna try to turn him good and say, "Oh, neat." My mind was racing so fast and so hard, I actually lost sleep over it. And trust me, I know I shouldn't.

Just because we haven't heard about 405 yet doesn't mean they're taking a hiatus. 404 is still pretty far off and I imagine with the late start and a 26-episode season they'd want to squeeze everything in as quickly as possible. Otherwise the season won't be over until mid-June at the earliest unless they've got a few one-hour specials planned.

No, as far as we know 4 will be the last. I don't see a problem really, you want they say stop while you're ahead. I'd rather they end on a good note instead of end on a crappy one. The show can't be good forever.

They haven't said anything about anything going beyond season 5. Most likely because they need to see how the ratings for season 4 will estimate to be. After they feel they can do another season, they will begin plans for it. At the moment though they seem to be very hush hush about season 4 i'd be more focused on that!

Hm, with all the success the show has had I don't think it's a good estimate to say season 4 will be the last. I mean, I guess it all depends on ratings and whatnot, but judging by past ratings I think the show will be do fine in that department, just saying.

I believe there is a quote that was listed on the Wikipedia article for the show. It details that one of the Hasbro employees mentioned something about the show being a 'high priority' brand and that the show is set to continue for 'some time'. This piece of information would suggest that the show is pieced for at least one season further beyond four.

Christmas time is often when they have a hiatus.  And why not let the season run into Summer?  There's less competing shows that way.

It hasn't been made official yet, but it's safe to say we'll get a fifth season.  With how popular it is, Hasbro isn't going to let it end for quite a while.

I'm thinking the rating system isn't so immediate, considering how Season 4 was confirmed before Season 3 even started. So can we really blame people for asking?

Anobody noticed the abundance of Discord in the Hasbro trailers? Does that mean we get more Discord that we expected? Maybe even in the season premiere?

Also, I don't know what that will do for the flying lesson segment everybody is gossiping about, but Twilight seemed to be flying with surprising speed and control. Maybe that part just happens after Rainbow Dash gives her tips to Twilight.

Yes his abundance of appearances of the promo's has been quite alarming. It's safe to say that he will have a prominent role within the two episodes as far as we know.
