I know I already said this, but I'm so so excited! I need to lower my expectations so I won't end up disappointed, but I can't help it.

 

Anyway, I highly doubt the shadow pony is Sombra. He was killed off, and it wouldn't make sense for him to be the shadow pony. I think its somepony/thing new. I'd much rather it be somepony/thing new. It sounds like an awesome episode, though.

A lot of season 4 goodies are being poured out today just as I predicted. Another image on EQD has been released from another episode. I think it's the episode after the premiere.

 

The synopsis has been released as well and it's the one where the main characters go to investigate an old castle of Celestia's. There's trap doors and other crap and a shadow pony that's rumored to be Sombra. It's all possible and it sounds very interesting. It also feels like this season feels a lot more adventurous since none of the episode are taking place in Ponyville now.

That proves that Celestia doesn't die in 4.1 or 4.2 like that capture seems to show. How could she send Twilight to her old castle if she's dead? Unless it was something she said before or it's her ghost. Hmm. The plot thickens!

 

Edit: So Luna is in this episode too! So does that mean she doesn't turn into NMM?

Twi had to retrieve the crown because it was Equestria's defence. In the beginning of the movie it shows she wasn't comfortable to wear it yet, maybe thats why.

On one hand I think it's this "Construction Pony" the press release mentions and that s/he is doing something inside the castle and every pony thinks it's a ghost. On the other, I want some sort of mythical magical creature because that would just be so cool.

In the "visit the crumbling castle of the Royal Pony Sisters" episode scenario I came up with many months ago, the ghosts haunting the castle turn out to be Trixie doing a little bit of visual magic - and she then accidentally conjures up some real spirits, thanks to her meddling.

 

So, if the Shadow Pony ends up being Trixie, I'm getting my agent on the phone.

Comparing it with this image from Season 3, I'm thinking yes... Her neck appears longer, and so does her horn.

 

Though, I will say with this show there is sometimes inconsistencies. It's possible that it's just these angles. But it's also possible that she's growing...

 

 

edit: I went and looked at Equestria Girls during the beginning and apparently she was already like that (1, 2). I'm guessing that she grew during Magical Mystery Tour when she transformed. (I'm rewatching the series in order, haven't gotten to that episode so I'm not checking it out yet). I can't believe I didn't notice it before, haha.

But yeah, her horn does look bigger and her neck thicker, for sure.

Twilight has definitely changed in stature, has a longer horn, and what not. You could see her new style fairly distinctly in Equestria Girls.

 

I'm personally fine with it. After all, she underwent a transformation - I didn't expect her just to grow wings when all that fancy light was enveloping her.

I hesitate to post more about Twilight not wearing her crown, but that recent video spoiler of her dealing with the worried crowed and not wearing it was a bit too much I think. Equestria Girls was all about her crown and in the end she saw the value of it and how important it was. I have no problem with her being self-conscious or nervous to a point, but there comes a time when the lady doth protest too much. I just hope the writers can make it work as they did in EQ.

Allow me to say that I really don't care if Twilight wears her crown or not. Frankly, I'd be all for it if they just decided to expose the princess thing for the ill-conceived executive meddling it was and take everything back to pre-MMC (Though the wings they can keep. They're kinda cool)
