How big is your extended family?

I just had this topic come to mind for whatever random reason so I felt like asking, how big is your extended family?

 

Just so you know your extended family means your family as a whole, your cousins aunts uncles all that.

 

I'm sure not everyone who has super big familys or just can't remember can know exact numbers, but atleast try to give somewhat close guesses, or atleast how many brother's and sister's your parents have.

 

I was going to add a poll to this, but I feel like it would be quite long with how broad a span of different sizes of families and options there would be, so I guess you'll just have to settle with posting it.(Well that and I'm lazy.. hehe.)

 

Anyways, my family. Well my Mother has only 1 sister, my mom's mothers alive but my mom's dad's dead. My mom's sister has 3 children.

 

On my dad's side. Hes one of 12 so he has 11 other siblings(I think its 3 sisters 7 brothers, and him, but I'm not positive on that.)

My grandmothers still alive, but my grandfather on my dad's side is also dead(They've both been dead already like since I was 2, so I don't really have any attachment to him, guess it kinda sucks having no grandfathers, but oh well.)

 

And as for all the cousins and other relatives on my dads side... Well we have alot . My family for my grandmothers birthday filled up a big room we rented for the ocation and I think someone counted like 70+ people there. And its all family, so yeah we have quite large scale family get togethers .

 

Oh and I have my stepdad who has 4 daughters, (Who are actually like 30+) And has a brother and a sister. And his daughters have something like 10+ kids I think combined. Probably more, not sure on the exacts.(I have some weird step relations to them considering their all nearish to my age .)

 

And then I have my brother if you wanna put him it, but hes 2 years younger then me so he doesn't play into any extra relatives or anything.

 

 

So.. Now that I've got my family outta the way, how about y'all's? How big (or small) is your extended family? Feel free to include whatever family members you feel necessary, and again try your best to get a somewhat accurate count even if you can't remember them all(I honestly don't know half my cousins and uncles by name, so don't feel bad if you can't count them all exactly .)

My family is....pretty big. Big enough to hold a family reunion at the mountain range every two summer years or so. Mom and dad have six siblings each, and a TON of cousins. I can't keep count of how many aunts and uncles I have, we're really giant. xD I don't even know the names of all of my cousins, even though I see them almost once a month. I'm very bad with memory.

 

I do have a great-great uncle who was my great-grandmother's uncle. 95 years old and going strong!

 

It's funny that our last family reunion last year, we couldn't fit everyone's name on the t-shirts because there was just SO MANY of us.

Wow sounds pretty numerous . And yeah I don't meet my whole family every month or anything, since they're spread so far apart, but I certainly don't remember them all(Heck I forget some of the ones I see more often sometimes..)

I don't got any Great grandparents, My grandmother on my dad's side is like 86 or something, Not 100% sure on that, its up in the high 80's pretty sure shes not 90 yet. My grandmother on my mom's sides only like high 60's. I'm not 100% on her exact age either. .

 

So I guess your family had to opt some people out of the Tshirts then if there where to many? Or y'all just didn't get em ? Pretty crazy considering theres TShirts with whole school teams and seniors and stuff all on them. Yet your family can't fit on it .

Let's see. I'm an only child. I'll start out with my mom's side:

 

I have 4 uncles (All on my mom's side), and 4 aunts. I have 9 cousins, all of which are female. (my mom grew up with 4 brothers. She was the only girl, other than her mom. She had a son, me, and all her brothers had girls.) I have 2 grandparents, and a few great uncles/aunts that I either haven't met, can't remember the name of, or don't know exist.

 

Now my dad's side

 

My dad was an only child as well. I have 2 grandparents, and they have together like 20 brothers, some of which are dead, and others I haven't met, and most likely never will.

 

So in total, there's ~30 people in my extended family that I can think of.

I'm Puerto Rican, so I think if all my blood related members of my family were to get together, you'd have to have a lot of rice, beans, watermelon, and chicken. I'd have to guess with aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers (none for me) sisters, grandparents, and great grandparents there would be at least 50-70 members.

I have four brothers and my oldest brother is 39 years old and my youngest is 22 years old. My brother who is the next oldest (I think he is 32 years old) has two small kids who I sometimes build lego with. xD

Haha, yeah you have a bit smaller sized family then the others who've posted here I guess, but thats not nessarily bad . I mean that means you'll atleast have an easier time remember names and not be like.. I know I'm related to you... But who the heck are you anyways? Xd.

 

I use to play with lego's all the time.. . And step on them . Then you know I got older and stuff and I don't really have the time or care for it anymore.

Honestly, I've never been good at family relations and not just because of English being my 2nd language...I could never get things things right in general. But anywho, I'm a person who only really acknowledges the closer family members since the families I'm part of are way too huge, so I promise not to waste your time for too long.

 

I have a single great-grandparent left (my whoever the mom of the mom of my father is...), and I never knew any of them from the mathernal side. I have 3 cousins, all of them are the sons of my fathernal aunt, I see them fairly often, but usually it's just me babysitting them whenever I go to see my dad.

Yeah, my parents got divorced about 7 years ago (which threw me into depression since my father was telling me, a 10 year old kid ,that he would commit suicide or start drinking if my mom hadn't changed her mind)

The two sides of my family never got along too well with eachother, and I'm right in between them (although I'm liking my mathernal family much more)

 

I also don't have any siblings, and honestly, I'm fine with it. Even I consider myself pointless trouble my mother decided to place upon herself, so I'm happy that it's just me lowering her quality of living.

I never felt like I needed siblings, and I can't imagine what having one (or more) feels like.

I'm just a lonely wolf, and that's how it should be.

I don't think its possible for you to waste enough time for me to care. Considering how long I spend here .

 

And I'm sorry about the divorce, I know it sucks, and threats don't add anything to it especially at 10 years old. Hope your doing a bit better now. Its still annoying being split between multiple families though I know.

 

And don't think of yourself as a burden! Your a great person! Everyone is a great person for something, you might not think of yourself as much, but I know that you are still a great person! You just haven't come to the realization of it yet.

 

Heck your mother should be freakin honored that you decided to be her child . Your far from a burden my friend, so no need to think that way .

 

You don't have to be a lonely wolf, wolfs are pack animals, just like humans, you deserve to be atleast a part of some friends, so if you don't already have some I think you should have some . Everyone deserves a pack, blood brother, or not.

 

I know this is a bit off topic but if you need someone to talk to ever I'm all ears for listening, I may not be the most amazing miraculous advice giver, but I'm still willing to listen if you need, just thought i'd mention it since you sound kinda depressed.

The thing is, we're all spread out. Most of them are in Korea, though I do have some extended family here in the northeast (New York, NJ, and Philly) and a bit in California.

Pretty decent sized family . My family's mostly spread around the U.S, i don't think I have much if any family in other countries(But I don't really know for sure seeing as how big my family is .)

My families all around the place, however a good big of them live near us or in the south. We have family in pretty vast places though everywhere. I think I have family in Alaska even .

Oldest of 4 boys in my family.

 

Mom is the youngest of 6 siblings, who have given 43 children in total, with 22 grandchildren. (And grandpa and grandma are in their late 70's too, so they'll see a lot more) I know all my mom-side cousins by name, and 90% of them can be found within 20 miles of my house.

 

Dad's side is a bit obscure.  He has more siblings, (I think 8) but less children.  I only know a few of my aunts, uncles, and cousins from my dad's side.  I think around 18 of them in total...

It's not that big, I have a lot of relatives but still for reasons I will not mention it's rather small I can't put up a number but if we only take things like cousins and etc. I don't think there are more then maybe 10 more or less but that's only close relatives I have a lot of relatives and I guess I could give a number up to around 200+ that aren't far from being close relatives but not as close but I don't know really.

Not terribly big actually. My dad has four siblings, though only one has kids so I would say most get togethers consist of maybe 15-20 something people or so. All that is just my dad's side though on account of the fact that my mother is very estranged with her family for kinda kicking her out when she became of age. Only member of my mother's family I ever met was her dad once and that was close to a decade ago.

This is always a topic that I use to surprise new friends. My family is extremely large, and this was something I accepted as common until I got older.

 

- My father is the middle of five children

- My mother is the fifth of seven children

 

When you add it all together, I have 35 first cousins and 22 aunts and uncles.

I have a mother, two brothers, a grandmother and grandfather, two aunts, two uncles, and two younger cousins. Both of my uncles have other relatives, but they're not blood related and I don't see them often enough to consider them as being close family. My grandmother has three sisters as well, so I have a few great aunts. I had a father but I never met anyone from his side of the family save for my half brother and his girlfriend, but said half brother has found another place alongside my father. :/

 

My extended family is probably quite large, but since I don't know anyone on my father's side I can't make a fair estimate.

Well, I don't think my extended family is very big, especially compared to some of the other families described here.

 

By blood, I have two uncles on my mom's side, and both an aunt and uncle on my dad's side. (I used to have another uncle, but he passed away. In fact, all four of my grandparents have passed away as well; I only got to meet two of them while I was alive). Anyway, I have four cousins on my dad's side, and I think that's about it. Still, I do have a bunch of "second uncles", "second aunts", and "second cousins" but I'm not sure if they count.

Hmm it's not too big.

 

Currently I have 40 cousins, and more to come.. 'Cause I still have aunts/uncles that aren't married yet or just got married. Yay family reunions!
