"Grave of the Fireflies" is an anime I can't even think about without crying.

I saw it a convention a few years ago, and came in just a bit after it started, so I had no idea what to expect (I've since bought it on DVD, and it seems there's a spoiler right at the beginning of the film... phooey...)... and I wasn't the only one who was just crying their heart out at the end.

Probably the FRIENDS show finale.

I love the sitcom, and I enjoyed it a lot when I first watched it.

The finale was sad, looking back at all the misadventures and fun that took place in Monica's apartment.

Then the six friends leaving their keys on the counter of the empty apartment, and a final shot to the door frame. It was pretty sad for me.

There's a lot of sad moments I could think of, but the latest one I could think of is probably the Wreak it Ralph Ending.

But If I had to chose the saddest moment, It has to be the The UP intro

and The Metal Gear Solid 4 ending (which is the only time a video game got me shed liquid pride)

The end of Madoka Magica nearly made me cry, but the one film that I've cried over (reluctantly) was Harry Potter and the Deathly Halllows part 2, when (spoiler alert) Harry summons his parents, Sirius and Lupin using the Resurrection Stone. Seriously the saddest moment I've seen in a film.

I do poetry. Give it a read?

To be honest I get very emotionally vested in the shows, books, movies that I watch and read. So I have cried a lot over something that I have watched. But going with the most recent, I watched "Sherlock" (for those who don't know a BBC spin off about, you guessed it Sherlock Holmes :P) without spoilers the Season 2 finale had be crying for hours.

Hm, I'm probably too emotional at times, Since nearly anything can make me cry, if it's sad.

When I was about 9, I remember getting really sad at Free Willy, but in my Current age, I'd have to say the saddest things I've seen were Clannad, and The Elfen Lied Manga

God I cried at that manga. (Making myself sound weak...)

This scene from the fox and the hound teared me up pretty bad. It's pretty sad for me because I remember looking after a kitten for a few weeks after a mother cat gave birth to it in my garden. I had to give the kitten away because she didn't get along with my dog at the time (I still love my dog). It's also why I tear up bad to my little dashie.

I don't usually cry when watching movies, but that scene is the closest I've ever gotten to genuinely shedding a few tears when watching a Disney movie. The near-ending of My Little Dashie totally reminded me of that scene when I first read the fan-fic.

I also get pretty choked up at the ending of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, where

Chief is just about ready to escape from the institution with McMurphy, but then finds out that McMurphy has just been lobotomized after attacking Nurse Ratched, so Chief has no choice but to smother him to death with a pillow and then escape the institution himself.

I get very emotional where in Spider-Man 2 there was the train fighting scene after Spider-Man stops the train. The citizens of New York City carry him along the train like in a wave of hands to show their appreciation for him being heroic.

This is the saddest thing for me and it gave me no hope for a future. I mean the next day when I went to school, I couldn't express the sadness not just for myself but for everyone. This is why...oh man I am tearing up right now. Well just watch and you will understand what I mean.

This scene from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air may not be the single most sad thing I have ever watched but it certainty hits close to home. sad.png

...I just remembered one of the saddest things I've ever read... (hopefully it fits with this thread...)

"The Dead Lady of Clown Town" by Cordwainer Smith.

It's a SF short story published in 1964 that is a beautiful story of anthro beings... that allegories the story of Joan of Arc.

The ending is so sad, I cry just thinking about what happened to D'Joan (the dog-girl) and her followers who did nothing wrong except exist.

this

I can't believe how much I was crying throughout the video, and I'm normally one that are really hard to make cry, you will cry too

Oh my goodness, that was so beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing it!

I especially liked how it said that Equestria was created to nurture and protect caring hearts... It's like that thought could almost explain why I feel so good after watching an episode....

(I also liked how it hinted that we also care for Equestria by keeping it's vision bright, strong and untarnished within our own hearts and thoughts. <3 )

the saddest thing I've seen? probably...Mufasa's Death in the Lion king, because of the music, that made the mood so heart acheing, mainly because Hans Zimmer is so amazing and knows how to make True Music, here's the clip.

HNNNNNNNNNNG img-1495615-1-sad.png you see i cant watch it without getting sad for simba, because of his facial expressions and how he reacts to everything.

Anyone remember the movie called A.I., probably one of the saddest movies I have ever seen. That movie is what feels are made of. Jurassic Bark, Futurama  episode was also an incredibly soul crushing episode. When fry decided to not resurrect his dog, thinking that it had probably moved on and had lived a full life, because an analysis showed that it had lived 15 years. I couldn't get over this episode for the longest time.

I thought I'd post what I thought was the saddest scene in Elfen lied. It does contain spoilers, so watch at your own risk img-1495699-1-wink.png. I'll post a bit of the story so you understand the magnitude of sad behind this.

The girls with pink hair in this anime are known as "Diclonious" which are basically mutated humans; they have invisible appendages that they can move at incredible speeds (I hated when they had to put the cgi effects, they were better off invisible.). Every one of them was locked in a science facility and went through horrific; torture experiments. They would test their strength, endurance, and limits. Mostly resulting in brutal; cruel deaths.

The Girl Mariko has a tragic story where her father was ordered kill her, while she was still in the womb. This resulted in the mother's death. So due to his love for her, she saved his daughter. Since then he has allowed horrific experiments to be done upon her, and left alone in a cold dark room. Bound in a metal sarcophagus. She then gets sent out to track down others who have escaped the facility, this is the first time she's ever been out of her room.

This scene is the first time she physically met her father.

EDIT: I have no idea why some of my text doesn't turn pink...this drives me insane -.- I can't fix it either.

Probably one of the most emotional scenes is when the tenth doctor regenerated. The combination of the build up and the soundtrack is so fantastic. And of course another one is space pig. Who can't feel sorry for it?

Just in case someone tells me off *Spoilers for Death Note*\

For some reason I became so sad when Light died. No crying or anything but there was something about his death that made me feel incredibly sad. The whole ending just felt plain depressing. Which is why I hated the ending.

Some of you already mentioned a few of my nominations, like "Fox and the Hound" and "My Little Dashie."  Scenes that involve saying goodbye forever tend to affect me even more than death.

Another one that really gets to me is the trailer for the movie "Hachi."  I have never had the nerve to actually watch the movie, since just the freaking commercial has such an impact on me.

And of course, there is the music video for the song "Concrete Angel."
