Have you or anyone you know been in a auto accident?

I've been in a very minor fender bender once.  A car on an interstate ran my dad and I off the road.  We rolled on the grassy shoulder until we bumped into a guard rail.  By the time of the impact, we slowed down enough that a small dent was the result (we had our seatbelts on too).

But on another occasion, my dad was hit as a pedestrian while walking to his car after work one day.  The driver was a doped up druggie trying to escape the police.  This was very serious.  Dad spent a month in the hospital and we weren't sure at first if he'd survive or not.  Miraculously, he pulled through and went on to marry my stepmother.  :)

Dang it how could I forget? A good friend of mine the same one who got me into ponies got hit by a car a year ago so I guess that also counts as a car accident. He is survived but has still not full recovered, he can walk short distances but can't do much else. The doctors say if he dosen't make any further progress he will need a hip replacement.

I've only been in one, but I don't really call this bad.

I was with my dad (he was driving) and we weren't even on the freeway. Just a small straight away road, and it was heavy traffic, so it was stop and go. As we stopped smoothly, this guy behind us didn't brake in time and tapped my dad's car. It made my neck whiplash, but it wasn't anything serious. Yes I did go to the hospital, but it was a per-caution. After I think about it all, It was a waste of time. That's my *big* accident.

I killed a deer last year when it ran out in front of my car. It was pretty awful. It somehow got flipped upside down and landed in a poison oak and blackberry bramble. I also ended up with serious back pain afterwards.

On second thought... I should probably remove this post. I'm not particularly proud of being in any auto collisions. Onehundredcharacters.

  • 1 month later...

A while ago I was driving with my dad to Seattle and we got into some pretty thick traffic. We start to slow down, meanwhile in the car behind us some girl from Utah is chatting with her friend and paying no attention whatsoever to the cars in front, and just keeps going.

And my dad can't drive any farther, so she rear ends us. Luckily at low speed, but still not so lucky for our car because the bumper bent and the door for the trunk got wedged to the side. And the State Patrol lady wasn't very helpful either (goes to her first and asked questions like "What did he say to you?").

And I think my uncle got rear ended too once.

Otherwise nothing else. My parents are very careful drivers.

I was in a car accident a year or two ago. Thankfully, it was minor and I didnt have any extreme injuries.

My dad was in an accident over the summer and wasn't hurt. My brother thought he would damage the car first, and you wouldn't want to see what happened at dinner that night regarding that.

My uncle was in a car accident and had a neck and backbone injuries.

Last year at my high school, a sophomore got ran over by a car and died when riding his bike at night and some other kid got hit by a car around New Years and survived.

As for myself, only a couple of small bumps with other cars, and I wasn't the one driving in either of those cases.

One of my best friends was in a really bad accident several years ago. A car hit him, and he spent months in the hospital, and had significant brain damage and loss of memory, as well as chronic pain and motor impairment that continues today. It was an incredibly hard thing to deal with, but he's a lot stronger now, physically and emotionally. It also took a huge toll on our friendship, but thankfully we're past that and good as ever.

So, as the topic suggests, has it happened to you or anyone you know?

The first incident happened in Florida near Orlando. My mom was getting off of Interstate 4, and there was a sign that said "yield" in the merge lane to get on the main road. Turns out there is no merge lane, but a sharp piece of concrete curb where the merge lane should be. There should have been a stop sign, not a yield sign. It was raining and when my mom saw that there was no merge lane, she slammed on the brakes and sort of slid on to the road. We sort of T-boned a SUV, but it was a soft tap, and we hit the tire, not the bodywork. There was no damage to the SUV, so the guy just decided to let it go. We didn't have any damage either, but the hood was stuck for a while.

This was one incident. I'll post more later, my phone is about to crash. :3

Me and my mom got into a car accident when I was in third grade. She had some serious back pain afterwards. Deal was we stopped at a stop sign but then this car behind us crashed into us from the side and slid us into a ditch, the impact cracked the driver's side glass and seriously messed up the door. Apparently the mom in the other car was distracted, and didn't notice that she would crash into someone by moving to the side -_- Welp, no injuries besides my mom getting therapy for a month or two due to back pain. :( That and we had to get a new car  >_> A jacked up one at that. I miss that old car, I wish it had never been wrecked :(

I know someone, but I wasn't in the car, and I dunno what happened.

My dad died in a car wreck. It was pretty rainy that day. We think he hydroplaned, but it's not for sure. Hard to believe it was almost 7 years ago...wow. Time flies.

A bit personal, but I don't mind shelling out some past grieves....

  • Mom: Almost got ran over twice.
  • Little brother: Ran without looking and was an inch from getting run over.
  • Sister: Someone didn't stop at red and was almost ran over by an inch.
  • Father: Got his foot ran over from a drunk driver. (Luckily, the person was caught.)
  • Me: Almost got ran over four times, I say that's luck if I got lucky four times.
  • Close friend: Drove too fast that he crashed hard to a bus and went to the hospital.

Dang, what luck that my family and I survived that many......

A few days ago my friend's friend and her mom were in an accident. The driver beside them waited for the light to turn green, once it did, they drove forward. Then some idiot came speeding at like, 80 Km per hour and hit them head on, almost breaking the mother's back and sending them to the hospital. They didn't sue because they didn't want to ruin Christmas.

Almost three years ago I wrecked my car. I had just bought it brand new two months earlier. I was sitting in the parking lot of my apartment and I inched out to go to work. All of a sudden, a trash truck comes barreling down the isle and takes the front end off! I wasn't hurt, but she only had a couple hundred miles on her! I have full coverage so I had the Dodge dealer fix it. No incidents since then though!

Yeah one of my friends in High School was killed by a car accident she was a really kind person and everyone liked her. The day it happened to her she was run over by a car while she was riding her bike....

It left all of us speechless and in tears the day afterwards. One of the hardest things ever to get over for me to comprehend at the time and for her life so young at her age. It def. was one of hardest things for me to go through and going to her funeral as well...

hmm i do have a couple one was pretty bad but i'll save that for last okay i live on street with a catholic school and on both sides of the street is a bus stop and because no-one could drive me where i needed to go i decided to catch the bus so while i was waiting there because i was in the bus zone i thought oh well and put my foot onto the curb and as soon as i did that a car came speeding down the road and was to close to the curb and ran over my foot trapping it for some reason they stopped in the bus zone and when i got hit i re flexed and punched in the cars window and the second one was when i was 5-6 my mom was driving me and my sister home from my dads cricket match and he decided to stay behind and get a lift from one of his friends i was sitting in the back seat while mom and sister where in the front (my mom suffers from epilepsy) and so my sister decided to point at a netball game going on and as she was driving all my mom saw were flashing lights that triggered her epilepsy off and so she ran through signs and a roundabout through a fence and into a tree while speeding up me being 5-6 was freaking the f*ck out screaming and crying saying that we were going to die but don't worry no-one was seriously hurt that day just me hitting my head and getting epilepsy as well and now have a giant fear of driving to this day.

I've been involved in 4 accidents. Two of which I was a passenger while my mom was driving, and both happened at the exact, same, location! She rear ended somebody the first time (it was a yield lane), and was rear ended the second time (both accidents were at low speed).

The other two I was the driver. My first accident was the two of us backing up in a parking lot, and we caused a dent to both each others' cars (we were equally at fault).

The second time is a slightly longer story. the right lane of the road was to merge onto the left lane (construction zone), so I attempted to yield to a truck on the right lane. He didn't advance or drive faster, so I just continued to slow down so he can pass me since me passing him would have been a reckless and difficult move (I drive a Prius whereas the truck could quickly accelerate in front of me). After five seconds, I was rear ended by a car. And that's the story!

before i got my ML320, I was drivin a Mercedes Benz C280. it was involved in 2 crashes. one was totaly my fault, when i decided to go down a single lane country road doing 70-90MPH throughout all of it ( i had done it multiple times with success ) ... but this time, like a idiot, i didnt really allow my tires to get warm enough ( heat causes better grip ) and leaving a turn the car continued to go straight instead of turning... my friend was inside with me, and was scared shitless and believed we were gonna die... i did to... the strange thing was though i kept my cool, and one side of the car was in dirt, the other on the road, and oddly enough, if i slammed the brakes, instead of flooring it like i did , we would have hit a rock and died... instead, by me flooring it, the side in the dirt lost traction and slid towards the direction of the road... and we ended up jumping on asmall dirt hill about 5 feet in the air...  scariest moment of my life... yet when it happened, it was as if the incomeing death was accaptable ( no emo intended :P ) Sir Stirling Moss ounce said the same about a crash in a race... apparently its common... the second crash involving that car, and yes, it didnt get totaled the bumper just came undone and i fixed it in about 10 mins ( tough ass car !!! BBBEEENNNZZZ !!!!!!! ) i was at a stop light, and i hear a loud squel behind me of tires... then theres a loud thud... the person hit me in the bumper doing aout 20MPH , the bumper looked unphased, and his front bumper ( chevy S10 Pickup ) was slightly bent ... im a Mercedes Benz driver for life... i now drive a ML320 Mercedes benz , it was my grandparents, and it was involved in a 30MPH front side collision. it survived and it looks brand new now ( litterally ) . when i tell my friends its a 99 they say they thought it was from the mid 2000s XD

My boyfriend was in an accident last December on his way down to Florida to see me, hydroplaned and flipped his truck. He amazingly survived it without any injuries but still scared me to death and I still to this day feel like it's partly my fault, if he wasn't driving damn near a thousand miles to see me it wouldn't have happened. :yeahno:

As for myself, I've never been in any car accidents whatsoever....*knocks on wood*

I am relieved I didn't had anyone else with me at the time and the people I crashed into were actually helping me through and were not angry... even when I was the one crashing into them

I've gotten really lucky twice on car accidents and been in like 5, I was only driving for 2, unless you want to count ATVs as well, then I've been in 3 serious crashes that I was lucky to survive.
