Does anyone dislike Celestia bashing in this fandom?

 

Let me give you quite possibly the highest caliber of extreme Celestia bashing, there actually fan fictions/fanworks that make Celestia behave like Adolf Hitler. I can sorta understand if it's a Conversion Bureau story, but most stories don't explain why Celestia had become so out of character and literally turned into Pony version of Harbinger from Mass Effect on the Human race.

 

Oh and Molestia, enough said. 

 

I like to think canon Celestia is kind and does her best for her people and does not behave like a Reaper from Mass Effect or a purvert.

I don't think I've ever seen her have any malicious intent in the show and banishing Luna was more out of protecting her subjects, but that doesn't mean she stopped loving her sister-in fact, I believe it hurt her greatly to do so.

And if Lauren Faust had realized how serious people were going to get about the show she probably would have given more explanation of the thousand years thing.

I don't like bashing of any of the characters from the show. It can really bother people. It's also pointless; what do you accomplish from it? All it does is start infights, and dear god, we have to fight enough with everyone else, so why each other?

 

So, no, of course I don't approve of any bashing of any character.

Well, I never saw it as bashing. To me it always just seemed like extremely creative alternate character interpretations. Tyrant Celestia is quite the interesting character, and I'd love to know what it is that makes a lot of fanfic authors see her that way. And as for Molestia... Pretty sure that's just for the funny factor

Claiming the fandom memes — Tyralestia, Trollestia, Molestia — is Celestia-bashing is gross exaggeration, which is why I won't vote. All three memes are favored in some way by a lot of Celestia fans, particularly Trollestia and Celestia. I'm a big Celestia fan, and I love these three myself, Tyralestia the most. Molestia and Trollestia are often written very humorously, and that led me to laugh from the antics.

 

Ironically, the majority of the people who don't like Celestia (that I've seen) equally despise her memes.

I don't really like Tyrantlestia all that much because it just dosen't do it for me but love Molestia and Trollestia. We all know that is not really what Celestia is actually like but most of these depictions are just jokes some of them made by actual Celestia fans. The ponies that get bashed the most if you ask me are Rarity and Rainbow Dash but Rainbow Dash gets just as much love as she does hate if not more so.

I'm just really bothered that the Trollestia/Molestia memes actually managed to slip in some affect on her reputation. They're just stupid memes, why can't we just ignore them and recognise Celestia as a kind and loving princess with a heart of solid gold?

Princess Celestia is one of my favorite characters, so I kinda get a little...irked when I see someone hating on for her for no good reason. Usually it's just that they like Luna more, so therefore Celestia is the anti-christ for trapping their beloved Luna in the moon for a thousand years.

 

Both Tyrantlestia and Molestia can go burn in the pits of Tartarus, but I will admit that I don't have that much of a problem with Trollestia, so long as it's done within reason. Then there's the "To the moon!" joke, which was only funny the first time, and had long overstayed its welcome by the millionth iteration. It got so bad that there ended up being a comic post on EQD that was nothing but "To the moon!" comics.

I don't know...I don't like Celestia bashing but I don't really like canon Celestia. People take it too far with Molestia/Trollestia. It doesn't bother me that much but she doesn't deserve as much hate as she gets. Personally, I never liked those leader/perfect type of characters that everybody in the show loves so I don't care for her. Thats why she gets the hate that she does and why everbody loves Luna; people can relate to Luna but not so much Celestia..

I don't really care about it one way or the other. I like Celestia, but she's not my favorite character. There are funny things done with Celestia. Like in Epic Rage Time when Twilight gets a house thrown on her and it does a closeup of her and she says, "mother of me..."

I do agree that I don't like the whole Molestia concept. I mean, Sherclop did a pretty funny thing where he renamed Luna to Molestia and they did the thing with the wrong banner in another one of his videos, but that's the only time where I laughed at anything to do with the name Molestia.

 

As for her reign...well you can't deny that the laws of Equestria are pretty much absolute. It's either conform or die or be turned to stone or be banished to the moon for a millennium. Perhaps these absolute laws are needed in Equestria since they deal with something as powerful as the use of magic

 

Anyway, I'm not gonna be able to change how much bashing Celestia gets. So I just accept it. Like it or not, it's there.

I like making fun of Trollestia because it's just a lighthearted part of her that the fans expand on her just like every other character. She needs something to keep herself from being a boring character anyway.

I agree I don't like it when the fandom takes characters out of character. Princess Celestia is a kind and gentle ruler not a evil overlord. Pinkie Pie is a fun and lovable pony not a psycho killer. That's the cannon and therefore it cannot change!

I'm pretty indifferent on Celestia bashing. The people that do not like the memes or the canon Celestia, will despise her in any shape or form. I don't care for the bashing because, it doesn't make a difference no matter how many times you bash her for fun or just to hate her for no apparent reason Celestia will still be who she is.

I love Celestia! Whether she is shooting ponies at the cannon, or molesting them she is always having a grand old time!

 

Jokes aside, I always have liked Celestia. She has a pretty snazzy mane, and I like her overall character design, and personality. I wish she would sing more though, I loved her song in the S3 finale.

I don't really like Celestia-bashing, or any character bashing for that matter. Dissecting their actions and face palming at their choices from time to time is one thing, but the really out-of-character memes and the bashing irk me a bit. Especially when people actually base the way they view the character in the show on those memes.

Yeah, I despise it. It's annoying and people are always willing to defend their stupid blue night princess. Celestia is a kind caring princess and people who make her out to be a tyrant are annoying. And people who think Luna would make a better leader are just fooling themselves. All the bashing keeps extremely annoying after a while. So, yes, I hate it.
