What's it like with a younger brother or sister or an older sister?

I've been thinking about this for a while now (since a certain event in WoW where my brother was rude) and I'm wondering what it would be like with a younger brother or sister or an older sister.
With an older brother I can't complain all that much. Since he's older he's always kinda been a role model for me. I copied his character names in games, his lego creations and even ate food the same way he did. But we wouldn't always agree, so we'd fight a lot. Mostly physically so he'd win a lot because we're 8 years of difference. Now that I'm a bit bigger I stand somewhat of a chance, though we rarely fight physically anymore. I quite often annoy him with my achievements but that's, again, because I want him to be proud of me. We play games together, even though rarely now because he's turning into a adult (x.x). He sometimes lets me go out with him and his friends but he has no interest in my friends.

Well that's about all that's notable with an older brother, so why don't you guys describe what it's like to have an older sister or a younger brother or sister? Or if you don't have siblings, what's it like to be an only child?

:yay:

Well, though I,d much rather my sibling to be younger, he's not. My BFF has a younger sibling, and from what I have seen, it's awesome.

Varies from person to person really. My brother under me is the embodiment of everything I hate in this world. Like seriously every trait I dislike in people he has to an extent but I love my 3 youngest brothers even if they do get on my nerves from time to time.

I grew up having an 3 years older brother, and what you describe is pretty close. I looked up to him, and copied him.

The funny thing about my life is that he moved out early, and we actually "adopted" two kids who were younger than me.

So now I am the older brother of two.

This role change has been really weird. Now they look up to me, and I just find them "annoying" sort of.

I have to make my choices and be the model for them to follow. But when they look up to me, and copies me, it feels odd.

I'm thinking why can't they be themselves? Try out things for themselves?

I feel lucky to have gotten this opportunity. I guess being the oldest feels like stepping out into the world alone, while being the youngest you "learn the world" by observing.

I haven't been a lonely child though, so I can't give input on that. I imagine you get closer with your parents in that case  :)

I have a younger sister and older brothers. Having a younger sister is pretty stressful as said above, and me and my sister have a typical realtionship with fighting and everything. It can be annoying at times and she'll get on my nerves, but I can get through it.. sort of. We do make up after some time, though. Anyway, me and my sister have a rather sour relationship but sometimes I can get past that.

My brother is three years younger than me and we used to get along fine... But nowadays we clash more than anything... We've never been the sort to physically fight but we often snap at each other and make mean remarks about one another... But our parents usually make us apologise...

I am the oldest sibling in my family. It gets tough sometimes, but I still love em

I guess it's pretty stressful, and sometimes you wish you didn't have them..

I have a 12 year old step brother, 9 year old step sister and almost 2 year old brother.

As for my 12 year old brother, he's alright. He rarely annoys me and he's one of my best friends to be honest. I care for him a lot because his mother never does much with him except drag him to her new boyfriends' houses all the time. Or leaves him alone with his grandma. He's a great brother, though. ^^

My sister, she's tough. She's gotten a huge attitude and she always copies what I do. She 'likes' My little pony but never watches it. Lol. Everyone will just tell you that your her role model and she just wants to be like You. But besides that, I obviously still love her although she's a big pain in the butt. :P

My 2 year old brother, well since we're 13 years apart, I get to babysit him... A LOT. Sometimes  I babysit when my mom and her fiance want to go out to dinner. He's still pretty adorable so I can't complain. x3

Yeah this was a really huge reply, but I've got nothing else to do before school. XD

I have a brother and sister, both older than me. I always avoided my brother and I wasn't even close to my sister either. I'm still not close with either of them and I don't plan on trying to. I'm sure they're fine people, I just don't like being around them. So, yeah, I haven't spent time with either of them for years now, I kind of enjoy being alone.

I have a older brother and sister and a younger sister. Me and my older sister don't talk much, but my little sister and big brother like to team up on me and mess with me, but there are times when we do get along.

Well I'm an only child and it gets pretty lonely even though I'm used to it by now and have found my own ways of entertaining my self even though they're quite boring and simple but oh well. But I still have my friends, that I'm thankful and happy for.

I have an older brothers, older sisters and a younger step sister. It's pretty good. We can usually be best friends and we know each oter better than anyone else. There are times when we disagree or we don't agree with interests but we all learn to deal with each other and be best friends.

I have both a (much) younger brother and a (slightly) older sister.

I used to like playing with my brother when he was a baby, but he's pretty much just annoying now.

My older sister and I used to fight a lot when we were younger, more verbally then anything. I'd have to say she was usually the aggressor in most cases. We've both mellowed out a bit since then but I can't say we're very close at all.

I have TWO younger brothers and they really know how to get on my nerves...

One's 16 today and Is very academically and artistically skilled (one day I'm gonna force him to draw pony pics :3) but has all the common sense of a chocolate teapot -_-

The other's 13 and autistic, he gets a lot of shit from the other kids in his school because of his condition. Now I'm not violent by nature but If I weren't over 16 years of age I'd go over there and make sure that no one ever gives him crap ever again :okiedokielokie:

So yeah, having annoying younger siblings has it's fair share of downsides...that's it

I have had conversions like this with my husband. He is an only child, whereas I have one younger sister.  His mother is the youngest of 5 sisters and is the family punching bag and he doesn't understand why.

Siblings dynamics do vary from family to family, and it also depends on family discipline, family finances, religion, environment, sex of siblings, and age gap between siblings

I loathed my sister growing up, and we had quite a mutual hatred of each other to the point to where we were separated in foster care and she ended up getting adopted whilst I fought adoption tooth and nail. We even fell out of contact with each other once I graduated high school. Btw, she is 2 years younger than I.  However, now that I am married, settled down, and a bit wiser, our relationship is getting better to the point where we are more "friends" than sisters, which I think is a good thing. We are polar opposites in terms of our basic, fundamental worldviews, and thus getting to point of friendship is a very good thing.

Well, I'm almost eighteen, and my brother is four, there's a huge age gap there.

It's mostly cool having a younger brother. My parents are supportive enough to make sure he doesn't get in the way or bother me too much, but I've noticed he often tries to emulate things I'm doing, for instance he saw me playing Skyrim on my PC and now is determined to own a copy. He also likes the same type of music as me and even a few of the same TV shows (haven't told him about MLP but in due time). I think if he was bothering me while I was partaking in all of the aforementioned activities, however, it'd get annoying.

tl;dr: younger siblings are cool but in moderation

Why don't you want to hear about an older brother? To steal Twilight's acronym he's my BBBFF. Growing up, I always wanted to hang out with him, and he was always tolerant of that. I hope he didn't find me annoying. LOL. We'd argue about things, but nothing serious. As I got older, he became a bit over protective of me. He once threatened to beat a guy up because I was upset over something that I'd rather not get into here. I do mean he went right up to the guy and wanted to take him on. Deep down, I liked that. My brother and I are still very close.

I have two older sisters and I love them to bits. We've had our share of arguments, but all of them were so petty in nature that I've forgotten what any of them were about. Otherwise, we're cool with each other and share lots of common views. Reading through some of these responses, I think I'm luckier than I realized...

My brother is younger than me by 2 years and sometimes I want to kick his teeth in like when he poisoned my Mom's mind with all that garbage about bronies all being cloppers (I may be one but still) and pedophiles after he found out I am into the show. Granted he is not accusing me of any of this but he is still acting like a jackass and I really have been meaning to talk to him about this. Despite the fact that he is an idiot he is my idiot, even though I am the older brother he has actually been somewhat protective of me due to me having Autism of course I have watched his back too.
