Pony Bots

  1. 1. Would you buy some one to build you a Pony Bot (Ones that look like the characters and not show robotic parts)?*That goes with OCs as well.*

When I see the latest robotics being sold for children, it breaks my heart. I'm a robotic engineer and I know that simple motors and a repeated voice recorder is so 90's. It's time to go a major upgrade I want to ask not just you guys but any of the robot engineers in this fandom. "Wouldn't you like a Fluttershy sing you a lullaby WHEN you ask for it? Wouldn't you like Pinkie Pie throwing you a party and bounce around on your birthday? Wouldn't you want to see your OC walk, talk and comprehend as if they actually existed?"

We have invented flexible and thin screens, programed robots to walk up stairs like a normal human and we are in the midst of making actual Iron Man suits for the Military. We push for Technology yet we lack to show our capability to the younger generation. I want to brighten this dark corner an advance in toys for children. Of course, I would have to start with OCs (which I'm more than Happy to) to show popularity among the brony fandom and show what it can do for children, but I'm positive it will be a great push for us. Below is a list of features I plan to have it program to do:

Official Pony Bots:

~Sing along with Original tracks

~Say it's famous catch phrases

~Teach about it's field (example: Fluttershy and the Biology or Zoology)

~Respond to common questions and commands (send me commands you want it to have and it might pop up)

~Play certain games (limited by certain terrain or other specific limitations)

~Comes with a CD that will have a program to back up the coding and have a special program to add any features I installed on  the disc.(It would be easy to understand for those who aren't computer literate. Like the Lego Bots Program.) This would allow you to add songs(ponies wont sing them though, sorry), download any apps from a special store( Apps like Calculus 101, Cookbook stuff, etc.)

OC Pony Bots:

~Would have more storage space since pre-programming won't be installed in it's hard drive.

~Will have a different CD Design for you to customize it your way (example: Voice Recording,)

The Customize OC Pony Bots may be a little more expensive, considering the outer coat, mane and tail along wit any accessories would cost more to fabricate than the Officials, but I promise that both of them will be only slightly above my costs. Do you want one If I accomplish in building a pony bot.

P.S. I won't be able to get them to fly but I should be able to get them to walk, trot gallop and use the stairs like in the show.

That sounds like something that I would waste a large chunk of money on.  :squee:

Seriously though, you had my interest at show ponies, but now you have my attention good sir. How big were you planning on these being exactly? And how easy would they be to add new commands to with these CD's? Also they should be kinda like a roomba where after a while they kinda learn their new environment and adapt to it, so they don't randomly fall down stairs or walk outside.

I love this idea. Robots always have been cool, but having a custom-made pony robot would be amazing. I'd love to buy one from you if you make this idea a real thing. :D

Im working on the design and calculating all the weight but plan to see them as large as their actual size. For Enviormental adapting, we have special optics that will allow the robot to recognize things like stairs. If you remember the Star wars R2-D2 robot that played hide in seek, R2 would recognizes walls, doors and steps. we advanced farther that we can have robots remember rooms. I promise that if the pony were to go down stairs, it will be able to go down on its own so it wont fall unless someone or something pushes or pulls it. It will also have some strong framing to protect the electronics.

For commands, they will be easy like the lego robots. It would be a click-n-drag method. When the download is finish, it will pop up as a big square. You would drag the b ox into the "Sync to Robot" and click sync. Its almost like syncing music to mp3 or Ipod. Now depending on what robot you buy will vary different downloads due to the voice. OC's downloads will have a robotic voice until the owner records their voice for that download. That method would be similar to a program called "Dragon Naturally Speaking".

That sounds like something that I would waste a large chunk of money on.  :squee:

Thanks but I hope I don't have to sell them over a $100.  Anything more might be hard to sell or convince Hasbro. I will make sure it's not too expensive but I cant Pinkie Promise it.

This sounds SO cool! If you do happen to accomplish this, how much money would you be making each one for? Because this is totally something I'd waste money on.  :D

If this were a major success, I might expand to other companies like Sega, Nintendo, DC Comics and Marvel. Imagine walking down the streets and Batman was on your left and Master Chief was on your right then you see Ditzy Do bringing you your mail. For me, I would say, "Yep, living the dream."

I'm still running the costs but I can tell you that OCs are going to be more expensive due to the custom fabrication of the outer skin, Mane and tail.

If Hasbro accepts my invention, then Official Pony Bots will most likely be mass produced and thus lowering the cost, but don't expect them to be in the $50 range, even though I wish it was. Doing this kind of thing is risky and consumes a lot  of money. I want them to be sold as cheap ass possible because I want everyone to have it.

Alright, so you plan on possibly mass producing them with Hasbro. That would be VERY cool to see. And, yeah, for what you've been talking about here, I was NOT thinking $50. The price would definitely be in the hundreds, which makes me sad. ;-;

Sounds REALLY expensive but I'd love to see one.

I won't lie about that but I will make sure to sell them near my costs and if I'm profitable, I will give freebies in contests or to those who want them and had something bad happen to them. Most Likely, I would be giving them to children diagnosed with some horrible virus like cancer. I would also give freebies to any brony veterans. They deserve something free for risking their lives.

If you plan on buying an OC pony bot, Then I can work out a deal. If you are looking for an Official pony bot, then I could probably give out freebies in contests if I can afford it.

I'd defiently give it a go if I had the money to blow. I mean heck I paid for a custom plushie of my OC (still waiting on) that costed me over $160. Yes...it hurts ouch.

If its a custom pony bot, then I can work out a deal (kinda like ford and the installment plan to buy the model T ford).  If you are looking to buy an Official then I will try to give some freebies or have them discounted if I can afford it.

Ok, now the part that hurts.

How much will it cost ?

I mean, I would be willing to spend a couple hundreds of British Pounds on it. But no more, really.

Certainly not for a toy.

@@SainTcRusade,

Ya but forgive me if this all sounds too good to be true. Have you even made a pony bot yet? I would have to see an example first, but i think thats only fair.

It does and right now, I can only work on the Blueprints. I'm still in college and my pocket is too tight to start on it yet. But When I start building it, expect  to have posts and pictures. Bronies are my first drive.

I'd end up spending my entire life savings on a suped-up Rarity one, so I'm definitely for it :D

I don't want that to happen, If Hasbro sells them at a price that's hard for you to meet, I will try grab one and sell it on a discount. If I am Profitable, expect to see me selling them at a bronycon. They will be cheaper, and I want everyone to have one.

Made a bit post about how advanced robotics would be impossible, but what you proposed wasn't actually all that advanced spoo....

Carry on

I can't really give you an exact price until I make the first successful pony bot, but to ship internationally will be a killer. What kind are you looking for: OC or Official?

I hate to be that guy but....

Your talking about seem bleeding edge stuff from the military the doesn't even completely work yet. Even if, somehow, they are willing to sell you some of it for a children's toy, it aight going to be cheap. People are already saying they don't want to drop more than a few Benjamins on this, but it would realistically be in the thousands. Maybe even more.

And that's not even mentioning how you'd make them. You mentioned working with Hasbro. Hasbro makes toys, not robots. You'd need a good amount of robotics expertise, and I doubt those people are going to drop what they're doing to make robo-ponies.

Haha...you may be on to something. The Pony bot would be very advance and would require those specialized in the field of robotics, but I'm positive that there would be young engineers  from the FIRST competition that would be eager to work on building robots, even if it is on ponies.

I want everyone to have a pony bot. I'm not in this for the money so I will be selling it to my cost. If it ends up being in or close to the thousands, than I will work on this as a hobby and sell them at a price of $100. I don't want people blowing their money on my invention.

Hasbro does sell robots, not very advanced robots but they are still robots. If it has motors, a voice box, and requires a power source that it's technically a robot. The question is, would they take the risk in investing into this? That I cannot say but I will say that most of their profit comes from new toys they sell and "advertise" it in their cartoons.

I would be looking for an Official.

Well I don't think I can do something like an installment plan but if you can wait and I manage to make a good amount of profit, I would be willing to buy my products and sell it to you at a discount. That or maybe I can send a lot to a warehouse near you. Would that be alright?
