  1. Well, if I could quote the mentally advanced abridged series: "It isn't racist if it's true." We all know mules are hideous. It isn't their faults, poor fellows. They're just a product of bad genetics. Anyway, welcome Oracle!
  2. If you're looking for a more gender-specific title, Pegasister is popular among many female fans. Whatever you want to call yourself though, welcome! You'll quickly find that the Scientific Rule of Bronies applies to this fandom: The male-to-female ratio of MLP fans is directly inverted from the male-to-female ratio of ponies in Equestria. So more female fans are definitely welcome, somebody's gotta keep us guys in line.

    Hello There

And hopefully you won't die horribly here every day. Wait... wrong show. Anyway, welcome.
  4. Ok, I wasn't sure where else to ask this, but where on earth did the term "shipping" come from in relation to romance stories? When I think of shipping I think of paying extra for shipping and handling sort of thing. I don't imagine the post office workers are romancing my package when they ship it. We also have a shipping department where I work. Somehow I just can't imagine that's a place where workers are paid to be romantic. I don't work at that kind of place. So yeah... anybody know where this term originated and how it got applied to pony romance stories?
  5. Which brings a bit of an inconsistency to light, because in Over a Barrel Pinkie specifically stated that their diets were "strictly vegetarian." So was she pulling a grey applejack and being untruthful?
  6. Yes, share with us your secrets! Your deepest fears! Your fantasies! Your political motivations and your agenda for overthrowing the government! *cough* Whoa, sorry... channelling Molestia there for a second.

Hello Gummy! Welcome to the forum. Glad you could join us.
  8. Snips and Snails: Teaching kids it's ok to run with scissors (snip's cutie mark). And it's ok to sneak out into the forest at night and bring a bear back to town. And did anyone else go when Snails said "mine's bigger!" in The Show Stoppers? That's a great phrase for kids to learn.
  9. Let's just be thankful for 4chan and their ridiculous meme setting trend! I came to MLP for the fanbase and stayed for the ponies.
  10. So basically, if they were human they'd all be in the 18-25 age category: young adults, Twilight being in college, Rarity and Fluttershy being graduate level in maturity and independence, and the others scattered around not far behind them. However, seeing as how they're ponies and age differently than humans, it is reasonable to cut that by several years because ponies don't generally live as long as humans do. And as was mentioned on the previous page, Lauren wanted to make them more relatable to kids. But as far as we're concerned, relating them to ourselves, the 18-25 thing fits best.
  11. With Autumn in the air, and bronies on the forums, I guess you could say we're all Fall Weather Friends...

  12. I don't know Pinkie. Tell us what YOU think. And then come back in ten minutes and tell us again, and we'll see if your answer's changed any.
  13. Ephesus, like the ancient city? Cool. We're getting a lot of people coming here from all over. So definitely welcome. What sort of things do you write? I'm an amateur writer myself, so always interested in seeing what others do.

Death Note is definitely very different from MLP. It's a very dark series, but I found it quite compelling. It has to do with the issue of what happens to a normal, good kid with a sense of justice and decent morals, whose dad is the chief of police, and what happens to him when he is given the power of death. It's truly fascinating to watch as he changes... You should definitely watch it. It's one of those shows that makes ya think.

Since we're on the issue of dubbed anime, take a look at this picture and see if you recognize the character on the far right... Yep, that's Near from Death Note. For those of you who don't know, the english dub version uses none other than Cathy Weseluck as the voice talent. She also did the voice for Spike. So there ya have it! Spike is Near! Now try getting that one out of your head.
  16. I wouldn't mind seeing a male character (aside from Spike) take on a more active role. I wouldn't want 5, 1 would be plenty. Maybe someone like Soarin. He could be a little more active in the show, appearing here and there to lend a supporting role. Maybe even take Rainbow Dash out sometime. I know, we don't want the show to delve into shipping. But something involving him and RD would be cute.
  17. Red Alert 2! *Brohoof* Personally I liked the Apocalypse Tank the best. But yeah, it's all good stuff. Welcome to the community. Go check out some of the other threads and topics, there's plenty here to keep you busy.
  18. Yeah there was a bunch of talk on EQD not long ago (I think maybe one of the interviews) that Derpy might have a talking role in one of the upcoming episodes. That would certainly be interesting to see.
  19. I responded to you in the general thread in the everfree forest, so we don't derail this topic with game talk.
  20. Evilshy asked me this in another thread, I'm responding here so we don't derail that one. Regarding the classic TBS game Alpha Centauri... Well, of the traditional factions I kinda rotated who I liked the best. It all depended on what style of victory I wanted to go for. Usually I preferred the University, but the Spartans and the Hive were both real fun. Occasionally I went with the Gaians just for fun so I could go out and capture a bunch of mind worms, and them PSI the crap out of my enemies, no matter what weapon technology they had. That and being able to use xenofungus as roads was totally epic. I could lose pursuers in that stuff so easy, and then turn around and ambush them. I got tired of the traditional factions though and so I created my own. I went into the game files and replaced the Peacekeepers with my own invention called the Cylerian Alliance. All new city names, new faction stats, all that. And then I had to edit some other game files too, I changed around the economies a bit because I didn't like the balance. That -5 police on Fee Market was ridiculous. So I sorta customed my game a bunch. It's been forever since I played just the stock game.
  21. Well we all know that Pinkie Pie is the most unusual pony in Equestria. I wouldn't say she isn't nice, but she can definitely be a bit freaky sometimes. Take the ending of Over a Barrel. She's breaking through the bleedin' 4th wall!
  22. There's no such thing as too much Alpha Centauri. That game is epic. *Brohoof*
  23. I had an uncanny snail colony thriving in my fishtank, back when I used to have fish. I don't even know where they came from, but I had them for years. Never had to do anything for them either. They were just there, constantly spawning new ones. Forever. They even outlasted the fish. Weird.

Last Exile (the most epic steampunk ever!) Shuffle! (a very cute romance) Gosick (a must see for anyone interested in mystery) .Hack//Sign (I'm a gamer, so this is automatically awesome) Sailor Moon (what can I say? It's a classic) Death Note (the question of what happens to a person given the power to kill. very deep stuff) Claymore (kinda gory, but a cool adventure anyway. Good for hack and slash)
