Unpopular Opinions Regarding the Show
RiseofSpectrum replied to DITR's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
1 and 2 are interrelated, so I'll give the same answer to both. Patience and trust are two different things, so it's wrong to assume trusting your friends more means you've more patience to deal with kids. As for 3, I'll accept it for the time being. I don't have the patience to watch the episode right now. And as for the final point, Pinkie Pie has not developed AT ALL in Too Many Pinkie Pies. By the end of the episode she STILL had problems with making a choice, and her response when confronted was "aw screw it, I'll take a nap". Though, after reading this statement better, I realized "oh, that's not your point". And yeah, I'll take it. You've proven me wrong. Though I still find Pinkie to be underdeveloped.- 1,378 replies

Unpopular Opinions Regarding the Show
RiseofSpectrum replied to DITR's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Are you actually serious? Out of the Mane 6 the only one who hasn't developed was Pinkie. So let's put your comment into perspective: You don't RD when she brags around, and you don't like RD when she has an actual episode where she develops. And then you say she's been the same since the show started? TOP LEL.- 1,378 replies

Unpopular Opinions Regarding the Show
RiseofSpectrum replied to DITR's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Bleh. Mysterious Mare Do Well had one of the worst-written Mane 6, including Rainbow Dash (she capitalized on the whole superhero thingy way too early), though not as a bad Mane 6 as Boastbusters. I'm not saying a climax with talking is better, I'm saying: just don't make that episode, you know? Another thing about Rainbow is precisely her obnoxious part showing she's an "incomplete" character. She has grounds to cover in terms of development. Applejack doesn't, and Pinkie Pie just does not develop at all. Rainbow Dash, on the other hand...- 1,378 replies

Has Being a Brony Changed Your Life? How?
RiseofSpectrum replied to jacibobsthebrony's topic in Sugarcube Corner
To me it was okay, and it still is. I've started watching MLP because of my older brother, and our family knows, but no one really cares. Some of my friends know about that too, but they also don't care much. Simply because, we're not made by the cartoons we watch, the games we play, the books we read, but by our own lifetime choices, decisions and actions, so, tastes are pretty irrelevant. I don't mention to people I watch MLP... much. Though, I have to admit. It did make me a better person overall. -
Alright, I know I'm a guy and what-not, but let me clarify one thing... The My Little Pony franchise has been going on for 30 years now, and we bronies, as much as we brought to the show, have to realize we are a very, very small thing to MLP overall. Hasbro hasn't changed the nature of the franchise (in terms of the target audience) and that will simply not happen.

mega thread Why you chose your user name.
RiseofSpectrum replied to Klopp's topic in General Discussion
Wrote a poem called "The Rise of Spectrum" and while I was creating my account the poem went to me and I had nothing else on my mind. Come to think of it, I could've chosen a better nick. -
Unpopular Opinions Regarding the Show
RiseofSpectrum replied to DITR's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Double-Rainboom was terrible. But I do have to admit I'm surprised at some of your statements. First of all, Rainbow Dash is not a one-dimensional character (though I do find her at times as obnoxious as an her american patriot, though other times, this plays to her charm). Magical Mystery Cure was terrible, specifically, for being rushed. The overuse of songs made the plot accelerate just so it could fit in an episode. But, overall, I'm not happy about the episode, not even approaching Alicorn Twilight, which I would find it alright if the season finale was a 2-parter carefully done. Mare Do Well was terrible, mostly because the mane 5 were more focused on outperforming Rainbow Dash rather than show her she's being too arrogant. Other than that, I pretty much agree with you on everything else. Though, Fluttershy isn't the only pony who's pretty much done as a character. The same can be applied for Applejack and Pinkie Pie.- 1,378 replies

Which one of mane six be the best mother to adopt you as a child?
RiseofSpectrum replied to Bendy's topic in Sugarcube Corner
Obviously, Applejack. She is second to none when it comes to knowing how to raise a child. Secondly, it would be Rarity, then Fluttershy. Those 3 are very well capable of being good mothers. As for Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash, I'm feeling a bit doubtful about both. I wouldn't really want Pinkie as my mother, though. -
People, people... War is a natural state for the human kind, the last time there weren't any wars on this planet was over 4000 years ago. Borders do exist, and in some cases, people are not happy with the borders they have. Hence, a country may have territorial claims on another. In a meaningless example, Portugal has territorial claims on Spain over Olivença (a small village near the border), and no one cares. In an actual meaningful example, both Koreas have claim on each other, or better yet, China does not recognize Taiwan, and Taiwan (who is STILL called Republic of China) does not recognize China. However, what truly causes war are resources. Every single war has been fought over resources and/or diplomatic positions.

Hellz yeah, I am. I like Portugal, with the nice weather and beaches and what not. Our country is on a huge crisis and nobody cares. Everyone is chilled (except the commies, but they're always a yelling minority). Well, I do not define patriotism as considering my country superior to others, but instead, devotion on the culture and language you grew up with. And, yeah, I love being portuguese, and I love Portugal, even if the country's falling apart.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_diLy8lF94 Being a big Maiden fan, I consider the entire No Prayer for the Dying album their absolutely worst, and I have no trouble to admit this song is very very bad, but... it's hilariously catchy.

Heh, if you want a real challenge, try my home country Portugal, with a capital named Lisbon and the two other big cities being called Porto and Faro.

Totally non-pony related, I have created several characters now, though, in order to fit into any story I write, I tend to re-define them and transform them into they something they weren't before. Though, luckily, I only did that to 4 characters, each of them special to me in their own little way: - Mark Stray is one of the oldest characters I have ever created. In fact, the oldest memory of writing this character into a piece of paper was when I was 10 years old. He was originally villain-fodder in the story who eventually became the anti-hero, though, still, his original fate, the one where he would suffer his demise at the ends of the hero, would still eventually come through, but at the hands of the Final Villain. Back then, my stories were really simplistic and a lot of the characters were one-dimentional and generic. However, as I grew older, the characters I'd put into a piece of paper were getting better and better. As for this one, it didn't really leave his "comfort zone" for a very long time. In most of my stories where he'd appear, he had a huge tendency to be the anti-hero. From a generic one, to that badass attitude, nothing-gets-in-my-way kind of behaviour, taken off from the likes of Vegeta and Shadow the Hedgehog, ideal for a story filled with action (and explosions) this character truly gained a personality. However, I remember a few years ago he became the main character of something I wrote and his antihero-esque like character was dropped. The last time I used this character was for a theatre show I named "Status Quo Ante Bellum" where he, along with Albert Jones, was trapped inside of an enormous empty room where only one of them could leave, with the other one allowing him to do so. In here, he was a psychopath whose job was rather, well... pretty dark. - Andreas Wolf is completely different from the other 3 characters named here. For starters, his character was never changed, only the environment around him. He's been the main character as well as the narrator of a story (told through poetry) I wrote... 4 times. "The Lone Wolf" is one of the most frustrating things I ever wrote, mostly because whenever I write it, I feel as if there's always something missing or one out of poems just doesn't fit there. Originally, this character was supposed to work around a punk-ish environment, the second one the environment changes as he grows, and in the third and fourth, the environments do not change at all. "The Lone Wolf" always told the story of this character. With a low self-esteem, bittered in loneliness, Andreas Wolf walks closer and closer to madness (at least, that's what all versions except the first one tell) and he creates a character named Fleet, who takes over his body while the real Andreas Wolf is trapped inside his own mind. In the last version, Fleet is the result of everything Wolf tried to separate from himself, and he has now choice but to accept that side of his he always hated. - Tanya Red is probably the most well-defined character I've ever created. Though, unfortunately, I transformed her several times and her 3 different versions are slightly different. However, the base of her personality is in all of the versions of her. In the first version, Tanya Red is a freckled, thin, long-haired red-head who's headstrong, ferocious and hotheaded. However, there's more to her than just this. When she was little, her own biological father raped her and she ran away from home. Living a life where she struggled to adapt to her surrounding environment, Tanya Red has a tendency to turn into a tragic villain. The second version, in terms of background, differs little to nothing at all. However, her personality is colder, calmer, composed and calculative. Also, her physical appearance changes too. The freckles are gone and her red hair turns dark, she's also smaller and more fragile-looking. However, considering this Tanya Red had powers related to fire, she could burn anyone she saw as a threat. The final Tanya Red reverts back to her original personality (though slightly-happier) and original design. Her background is replaced to one way, way more supernatural. As the princess of an annexed kingdom from another dimension, she was sent to Earth in order to survive, grow, become strong, and come back to avenge her kingdom. Though Tanya Red was an interesting character, especially as a villain, I'd tend to think the "hero" could not hold a candle (in terms of interesting to the villain), that is, until the last character came along... - Chad Patton/Spectrum is the last character of the 4. And to talk about this character, well... where should I start? The first time I actually used this character was for a theatre monologue I did, where Spectrum would be the nickname the character speaking asked be public to call him. This because his caretakers wrongfully thought he suffered from Autism Spectrum Disorder. The moral of the monologue was pretty much that a child should not have the mind of a teenager and be forced to grow up (by the way, the characters backstory is based on my childhood... yeah). Spectrum would vary a little more and more. For the second time I used him, I made him a superhero, mixing him with references from Goku, Sonic, Uchiha Madara, Tony Stark, Superman and... Rainbow Dash. To compliment his nickname I "forced" him to have a rainbow-like hair, just like Rainbow Dash. But Spectrum would get more transformations. There'd be one where he was called Chad Patton (which would eventually give him his final real name) and Tanya Red herself called him Spectrum as a nickname. As a character Spectrum became an obnoxious, arrogant, over-confident, asshole who at a times of seriousness would do the best for mankind. As a superhero, Spectrum often abused his powers, in fact, he completely left his "human" identity behind from the moment he became Spectrum. Without any intentions of hiding his powers or be humble about it, he is hated by some. Nowadays, Spectrum has become my mascot for every work I do. In "Status Quo Ante Bellum" where Mark Stray is in, Spectrum is the nick used by the person who has trapped the two psychopaths in the room. There are more appearances or "Easter Eggs" in stuff I do for theatre. Also, my nick in this forum is based on a poem I wrote called "The Rise of Spectrum". There's a lot more I could say about him, but, I think it's enough.

What languages do you know or want to learn?
RiseofSpectrum replied to Mint Petal's topic in General Discussion
I'm portuguese, so that's the language I can speak better, then it's English. I've spent a few years in school trying to learn French, but never managed it, firstly because I found it hard to learn, a secondly because I was never really interested in it. Though, I speak Spanish, though sometimes, when talking to a Spaniard whenever I go to the other side of the border my brain may go retarded and so I'll have to speak a bit of Portunhol. -

music Favourite Kind Of Music?
RiseofSpectrum replied to Lightning Fluttershy's topic in Media Discussion
I tend to have a varied taste. From Pink Floyd to Nirvana, from Maximum the Hormone to Heavenly, from Queen to Iron Maiden, I don't tend to stick around over one genre, though throughout the years, punk, rock and metal (especially the later), have been listened much more than any other genre. -
Unpopular Opinions Regarding the Show
RiseofSpectrum replied to DITR's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
- I don't like alicorn Twilight - Rainbow Dash is far from overrated - Applejack's done as a character unless the producer's bring out what happened to her parents - Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy are also done - I dislike Rarity but I do have to admit it's a brilliant character - Luna isn't overrated on the show. Only by her fans. - Celestia is a TERRIBLE leader for her kingdom. Just look at the amount of misfortunes she brought because she couldn't solve her own problems. - Since Twilight is a princess now, Celestia has become redundant. - Discord was ruined - Trixie started as a terrible character, but was saved this last season -- 1,378 replies

*Spoilers* Season 4 footage at SDCC
RiseofSpectrum replied to ~StatesTheOblivious~'s topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Well... I'm certainly eager to see the season premiere, though I'm not to excited to see Luna turned into Nightmare Moon again, simply because the result would be a redone of the first two episodes of the series. Now, it would be an interesting twist if the pony turning evil in that clip wouldn't be Luna, but Celestia instead. -
I tend to like more and more Iron Maiden's newer material. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHg9PJc1Nds Iron Maiden - When the wild wind blows http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZDB0mAMkA4 Iron Maiden - Dance of Death And now, let's vary a little: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZMraAGlpwc Nightwish - Phantom of the Opera http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opM-WIoSByc Maximum the Hormone - Buiikikaesu http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpMbR8jWZ6A Pantera - Walk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrEP3RPgEao A Perfect Circle - Pet http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBNwnUP0Lpc Comme Restus - O Lindo Sorriso do Meu Cão (from my home country) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WL5IRrhl20 Disturbed - Indestructible http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jubo0ydFrmc Sonata Arctica - Wolf and Raven http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XupkvxgTKjk Heavenly - Fullmoon (my most listened song on my iPhone)

music Favorite songs of all time now and till forever!
RiseofSpectrum replied to Stoney Pony's topic in Media Discussion
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZO6giM9UAv0 Aces High by Iron Maiden It's rather a fitting theme for Rainbow Dash, considering the lyrics "Run, live to fly, fly to live". Anyway, I'm a huge metal fan and I've listened to a lot of different genres and styles within Metal, from metalcore and nu metal, to power and symphonic metal. Keep in mind, though, there are a lot of metal songs I highly dislike.
