I think Celestia because she knew how to use the dark/Alicorn magic that King Sombra utilized to torment the Crystal Ponies and booby trap the door of fear in his castle. Plus, herfailures to protect the Crystal Empire from Sombra's final curse, not being able to stop Luna from turning into Nightmare Moon and subsequently have to seal her within the moon, as well as her failure to guide Sunset Shimmer onto the right path are the only mistakes we actually know about in her long lifespan-the guilt of which must constantly weigh heavily on her psyche.

Does some canon defilement stories annoy you?
Ianpiersonjdavis replied to Bendy's topic in Sugarcube Corner
The story "Dash's New Mom" really bugged me with Twilight not piecing together that she was dating Rainbow's father and not even questioning all the similarities he has to her friend and treats Dash like the bad guy for being mad at her for not mentioning this after she found out. This also bugs me because of how analytic Twilight is all of the time and it seems highly unlikely that she wouldn't find it odd that the stallion she was dating looked strikingly similar to one of her best friends-which makes her both a jerk and an idiot in the story.- 4 replies

She was under appreciated (or at least it felt that way) because the citizens of Equestria worked and played all day, but slept through her beautiful night-which caused her to feel unloved and become frustrated. In regards to Nightmare Moon, she was essentially a prisoner within her own body while she was corrupted and the fear citizens had lead to the creation of Nightmare Night which as shown in 'Luna Eclipsed' was a pretty grim reminder of her fall from grace. So I would say that she has been under-appreciated both before and after her transformation, until the end of the aforementioned episode.

Grimdark doesn't really bother me that much, most of the issues I have with it are how believable the situations portrayed are in context with characterization. Yeah, I ended up finding it humorous because the story was asking me to suspend my disbelief to an insane degree. Cupcakes' lack of logic in regards to things like anatomy and common sense (how did nobody notice the stench?) was because the author all but admitted that it was meant to be a horror comedy, but lamented in an interview that he didn't think it was silly enough.

I have never claimed or believed that. However, I think the answer some of us may feel entitled is through misinterpreting that the original intention for it to be enjoyable (or at the very least more bearable) for parents, aunts/uncles, guardians, older siblings, and grandparents to be able to watch the show with their loved ones. What happened is that it turned out so well that it succeeded its original goal and went on to create the fandom as it is today. With that said, the frequent shout-outs and the fanservice probably hasn't helped with that sense of entitlement among that part of the fanbase.

I don't think I would want that-outliving all of my other friends and loved ones doesn't sound very appealing to me-I believe this is also the reason why some of the most selfish villains in fiction seek it so aggressively, there is no one they care about that they would outlive. And while that happens normally, going through that cycle of losing those you care about, finding new friends and loved ones only to lose them over and over again for eternity doesn't sound very pleasant. I'm assuming that immortality would not involve immunity to injuries, so when it comes to accidents, you could lose limbs, senses, and even brain function-injuries that would not heal and suffering through them until the end of time. So while life may be a gift, I think eternal life is much more of a curse.

I've been kind of going through the same thing myself, but I've slowly been beginning to realize that being an outcast in this regard isn't necessarily a bad thing, if everyone on this planet was an did nothing but spew hate all the time-we'd be so busy fighting each other that nothing would ever get accomplished-so you should feel pride in yourself for being better than that.

That's a tough call, because I enjoyed both of them as antagonists as they both seemed to perfectly personify the dark side of Rarity and Rainbow Dash's coins in terms of character. In terms of redeem-ability I would have to say Lightning Dust, because she's more than likely what Dash would have become if she were a complete loner.

I don't thinks she could unless she had a REALLY good incentive to do so, since she seems to do just about everything with Magic (it is her element, after all.) But, if she had a really good reason to-then I think she's disciplined enough to pull it off-I think it would certainly be a challenge, though.

Who is the bigger doormat in FIM?
Ianpiersonjdavis replied to Singe's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I would have to say Spike, because there have been moments in the show where Fluttershy was much more assertive like in 'Dragonshy', 'Stare Master', 'Putting Your Hoof Down', 'Keep Calm and Flutter On', 'and 'The Return of Harmony Part 2' while trying to catch up to the Discorded Rainbow Dash and getting recognition for these moments. While Spike has been neglected a lot and only really does anything about it ONCE by lampshading it in 'Power Ponies'. -
I don't think that this has been done very realistically for reasons of trying to please or at the very least keep a portion of Friendship is Magic's audience as there are still those that are bitter about Twilights ascension/coronation (like my younger brother who despised her to begin with and quit the show as soon as he found out.) I feel sorry for the writers because it appears as if theyare trying to tread lightly and ease into this issue with fans that still see this as controversial, since they can't seem to decide if her new role would be better off downplayed or frequently addressed leading to these inconsistencies of how famous Twilight is exactly. Since there has so far only been shown to be a total of four Alicorns in Equestria, all of whom are princesses-this seems like it would be a pretty reasonable assumption to make

I wouldn't want to see her redeemed as I don't think that would work, but I wouldn't want her to be destroyed either as she's tied with Discord for my favorite villain. Princess Celestia may be willing to give her that chance (as she had with Discord despite his numerous crimes while he enslaved Equestria with his tyrannical forms of chaos), but Chrysalis doesn't strike me as the type of character that would be willing to take that chance. Even if her Changeling army needed love for sustenance instead of a power boost, she could have simply asked Celestia for help instead of going about her plans in such a roundabout way. Which leads my to believe that her pride is what would ultimately prevent her from even considering being reformed, especially given her arrogance towards the end of 'A Canterlot Wedding' which showed us just how big of a flaw that was-plus, she went horn to horn with Celestia fully expecting to be obliterated before becoming genuinely shocked when she actually won-once again showing her stubborn refusal to swallow her pride by putting her life at stake and potentially dooming her entire species.

Do You Think Pegasi Lay Eggs?
Ianpiersonjdavis replied to Denim&Venöm's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
No, there's Pound Cake who is a Pegasus, but was born in a hospital instead of hatching from an egg. Plus, Pegasi anatomy appears to be mostly Equine with their wings as their only exception so I wouldn't count on them having any other avian features. I would also like to point out that despite taking creatures from various mythologies, artistic liberties are taken for the sake of the show. -
Pick a Flaw: S4E22 - Trade Ya!
Ianpiersonjdavis replied to Dark Qiviut's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Flanderization and making the characters stupid were really grating to me and prevented me from enjoying the episode in any way... Princess Twilight says her hooves are tied because 'slavery' (even temporary) can technically be considered a fair trade, showing her "competency" when it actually involves royal business like settling disputes between citizens. Pinkie Pie seems to have been for lack of a better term 'evil', hamming up the importance of Twilight's books to get the best value, vaguely threatening the filly that seemed to be genuinely interested, and straight up ignoring Twilight. Rainbow Dash conveniantly forgetting that she knows Daring Do/A.K. Yearling personally and we've seen before that she was more than willing to give an autographed first edition copy to Dash at the end of the episode she first officially appears in, the fact that she doesn't even give half of a second to think before selling her best friend since fillyhood into slavery despite being the Element of Loyalty and teaching the Wonderbolts a lesson of the pitfalls such recklessness can cause TWICE. Fluttershy seemingly having the reset button once again pressed on her assertiveness training and the lesson she learned from 'It Ain't Easy Being Breezies' about being TOO KIND which doesn't even make sense, when we know the events were officially canon from that episode since that was when she earned her key. At first I thought the Applejack/Rarity thing was intriguing, but left me pretty disappointed. -
