Pick a Flaw - S4E14 Filli Vanilli
Ianpiersonjdavis replied to Doctor XFizzle's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
It had flaws certainly as any episode does, but the most glaring for me personally was Pinkie Pie. I didn't like her when the series began because I didn't find her antics necessarily funny or even amusing, but given time they didn't bother me as much, at worst they annoy me-but in this episode I downright despised her for her appalling behavior towards her friend after frequently expressing her consideration and care for her friends in the past. -

Which pony had the worst childhood?
Ianpiersonjdavis replied to Mywas's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I'd have to say either Pinkie or Applejack; Pinkie's family didn't even seem to know about the existence or parties (much less 'fun') or presumably 'happiness' until the Rainboom and Pinkie threw her first party for them. Applejack on the other hand had her parents die on her as a filly in addition to an identity crisis when she wasn't sure if she wanted to spend the rest of her life as a farmer. So I think it comes down to one's perspective; which is worse-never knowing or understanding the concept of joy or having it ripped from you prematurely in such a horrible way? -
Will Season Four End With The Equestria Games?
Ianpiersonjdavis replied to Princess Lona's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
They've certainly built it up enough...since last season, so it wouldn't surprise me in the least since all of the finales to date have been focused on HUGE social events/gatherings; Season 1-The Grand Galloping Gala Season 2-The Royal Wedding Season 3-Twilight's Coronation Ceremony So, I would be more than surprised if the Games are completed before the finale episodes air. -
I definitely think it's a major possibility, while I am not one hundred percent sure-I have to agree that after the frustration fans have expressed with her never starring in any episodes back in Season 3-I think the writers are trying to rectify that this season with the larger episode roster, which makes things much easier with more breathing room so characters aren't just restricted to a single (or no episodes) like last year.

Maybe...he hangs out with the Cutie Mark Crusaders a lot, but I have a difficult time seeing them as anything beyond friends. And even if it did work out, somewhere along the line it could become even more complicated if Sweetie Belle (possibly) came to the conclusion that Spike only became interested in her after his crush became increasingly unrequited by giving up before moving onto her, being Rarity's younger sister or a 'Silver Medal'. Or in other words; a Rarity that's more or less his own age...and I don't think most people are too happy when they feel like they've been used like that. It's just my thoughts on the matter and how it could quite easily turn ugly sometime down the road for them if it happened.

Anyone else disappointed in Trenderhoof?
Ianpiersonjdavis replied to Forlong's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I can't really say that I was 'disappointed' in him as I didn't really expect this to pan out too differently from her crush on Blueblood in 'The Best Night Ever'. With that said, as a character he certainly could have been given more depth other than his crush on Applejack and his reputation/occupation. The reason I felt so 'meh' about him was although he could be kind of annoying, I didn't feel a large amount of disdain for his character, but I wasn't crazy about the idea of him staying in Ponyville, either. -
Thoughts on Astrology and what's your star sign?
Ianpiersonjdavis replied to squareyes's topic in General Discussion
I was born in June (on Father's Day, no less) so I'm a Gemini. But, I feel more like a Pisces or a Cancer would be more fitting for who I am. -
The episode felt about average...nothing fantastic, but not really terrible either. I didn't care too much for Trenderhoof...he just seemed kind of boring to me as a character and that quickly made him annoying. Spike was shown to be a great friend to Rarity in the episode and the fact that he cares more about her happiness than his own shows a lot of maturity for his character.

Yes, I do feel ashamed. I don't know if it's society or the 'Anti-Bronies', but I've always felt guilty for enjoying the show and becoming a Brony because I've never had a lot of self-esteem to begin with and now that people hate me just for enjoying the show which makes me worried that other people I deal with in my day to day life will find out and judge me based on that.

There are only three episodes in the entire series that I utterly despise; The Mysterious Mare Do Well for Dash's arrogance written to be higher than usual for plot convenience, the hypocrisy of the Mane Six praising their own attributes that they attributed to Mare Do Well and laughing in front of Dash's face to purposely upset her and having so little faith in their 'friend' that they didn't even TRY to talk to her about their concerns. Magical Mystery Cure for horrible pacing, too much singing rather than any explanation for the confusing nature of the Cutie Mark swaps affecting the Mane Six, and two connected, yet feeling different plots poorly meshed together as one. Rainbow Falls for Dash relying on two of the worst possible fliers to represent Ponyville-despite the fact that 'Bulk Biceps' could previously fly well enough to join the Wonderbolts Academy, Fluttershy being out of character for not having any issues with flying in front of a crowd, the entirety of the Wonderbolts minus Soaring being unlikable, backstabbing jerks which makes me question why Dash still wants to join them as they represent the complete opposite of her Element.

movies/tv Any good Sci-Fi TV series suggestions?
Ianpiersonjdavis replied to KittyTwilight's topic in Media Discussion
There's an sci-fi series from the 90's called 'Sliders' about a group of four people who get stuck in alternate universes and have to 'slide' through timed wormholes until they can get back to their home version of planet Earth. There is also 'Quantum Leap' from the 80's about a scientist who 'leaps' into another person's body from the past and has to fix whatever wrongs happened in that time period to leap again until he finds his way back home to his own time period as himself. If you are a Superman fan then I would recommend 'Smallville' for you since it's about Clark Kent discovering who he really is and getting used to his powers as he develops new ones and becoming a hero. -
Yes, I am autistic in fact. Oddly enough, I don't think I've ever been called as such by someone else for being a Brony... Regardless, this label/stereotype greatly annoys me and those who use them are not worth the time or effort to be argued with because that's exactly what they want to get under our skin.

No, your opinion what episode you like or don't like is your own and you should never change your mind just because someone disagrees with you. Having differing opinions about characters and episodes is what makes us unique and without them, this forum would be quite dull as everything would already have been said in a single post with nothing new to be contributed. Seeing both sides is a good skill, but I don't think you should feel like you have to choose anything because there are things in the world people are indifferent about and that's fine

Do You Think Cadance Is OP?
Ianpiersonjdavis replied to Castle Bleck's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Actually she seems to be pretty under-powered by Equestrian princess standards; She was easily kidnapped and impersonated by Queen Chrysalis and was too weak to escape from the mines until Twilight showed up and she couldn't defeat the Queen or her army of Changelings without Shining Armor's aid with the combined magical power of their love. The main conflict regarding the Crystal Empire was that without Shining Armor being able to use his magic, she was rapidly losing strength while trying to maintain the shield to protect the Empire and its citizens from Sombra's re-entry and it was only through Shining throwing her that she was able to lift off from the ground to fly and the magic of the Crystal Heart could Sombra have been obliterated. In the newest episode, I actually kind of feel sorry for her. -

This episode airing today was somewhat ironic for me since I just got over a pretty bad stomach flu a few days ago. Cadance's health bubble spell is something I could used. Twilight's Starswirl cosplay returns XD I wish I could pause parts of Discord's song, so I could accurately count and list the references made in it. Discord's friendship necklace for Twilight was hilarious. While I don't like Flash Sentry, his appearance didn't really bother me that much-it was the fact that Meghan tweeted a few months back that he wouldn't be in this season that rubs me the wrong way because it feel like she lied to us. The appearance itself was pretty harmless though, as it had zero impact on the episode or any of the characters in it and just the audience's perception of it, so I think it would be unfair to rate it any higher or lower based on a three second appearance. The episode was good, but as a few others have said it felt like it was missing something, but I just can't put my finger on it, so I give it an 8 gummy bears out of 10.

I'm a male and I dislike Flash from both a viewing standpoint and a writing standpoint. From a viewing standpoint it appeared to me that he was only there to make Twilight blush and get her out of trouble when she was being framed and Luna was about to bring the hammer down on her. And from a writing standpoint it seems as if he's made out to be a cookie-cutter 'handsome, nice guy' character with no real depth, screen time, or dialogue to make much of an impact, which lead me to feel like he was just taking up space. If these issues were rectified before the film's release, then he probably would have been more likable, or at the very least tolerable, to some who dislike him.

So far this is the only episode I truly dislike/despise in this Season so far. The whole thing with Spitfire being a jerk rubs me the wrong way as being the leader of the Wonderbolts has given me the expectation that she would be more understanding and disciplined by putting her teammate's own needs before her desires. This also makes me question why Dash would still want to hang out with these jerks. Most of the jokes fell flat for me because I felt like they were forced. It felt like the reasons for the Mane Six (minus Dash and maybe Twilight) were there were contrived to hammer the lesson home and the team Rainbow Dash chose makes her leadership skills Spitfire praised back in Wonderbolts Academy questionable; 'Bulk Biceps' can no longer fly well, yet he was doing so back in Wonderbolts Academy and seemed to have no problems doing so and Fluttershy is not really an athlete and her social anxiety would more than likely hinder her during the games knowing that there will be literally THOUSANDS of ponies watching her. This also begs the question of why Dash couldn't have chosen anyone else on the weather team, since they are not flying for Cloudsdale because we find out that is what the Wonderbolt's are doing, so it's not like they all had to fly for their home town.
