Cupcakes is bland goreporn. There's really no art to the scare factor, it's just blood and guts thrown around as a cheap trick. Anybody can write blood and guts, it takes a true artist to weave a terrifying tale. Cupcakes ruined grimdark for MLP as a whole. It became the standard grimdark fics are held to which is cheap mediocrity.

The sound and smell of rain is a beautiful thing. Considering I live in a desert, rain is a welcome break.

I have to credit bronies for doing two big things for me. 1. Supporting me when I was depressed and homesick while studying abroad. A fellow fan sent me a blind bag toy free and I still keep it close to my desk three years later to remind me of the kindness in the world. 2. Giving me friends and a social life when I returned home from college. I was warned that going to college out of state I would have a hard time making friends when I come back. Two random bronies stopped me at Anime Expo and referred me to a brony meetup page and now I have a big group of amazing friends that have supported me when I've needed it most.

My Little Pony confessions and secrets
Duster Dawnhorse replied to Esmeshy's topic in Sugarcube Corner
- I legitimately do not get the massive and scarily devoted Luna fanbase. Sure she's pretty but the New Lunar Republicans can get more fervent and crazy than actual Republicans. - This fandom has no idea how vaginas are placed or work and that scares me. - There's not enough unwittingly bad fanfiction to feed me. The changeling queen of terrible internet things must be fed. -
I've noticed a general lack of tact when it comes to earlier gens and for that matter, older gen fans towards bronies as well. When fans of earlier gens are talking some brony has to barge in and tell everyone why the previous gens suck. When bronies are chatting about G4, some previous gen collector has to barge in and yell about how bronies are neckbearded fedora wearing misogynists stealing ponies from girls. It seems like both camps can't learn to co-exist or at the very least be quiet if all they're gonna do is start a fight. You can think the previous gens suck, that's fine. You can think bronies are the poison that's killing MLP, fine. Not everybody is going to like everything. But learn some (yay)ing tact when talking about your view.

My OC is an eohippus (see icon,) technically a pony in that eohippi are ponies from millions of years ago, but not a pony in the traditional sense. I've written other hooved races for tabletop roleplaying (sleipnir, kirin, peryton, eohippus, kelpie, and tikbalang) and have been tempted to make more non-pony OCs. They're just not as well recieved as the standard earth/pegasus/unicorn.

I'm pondering what I'm going to write for tonight's Roleplaying is Magic campaign. Don't want to be an empty handed GM.

OP, that's horrible what you went through. God teaches us to love our neighbors as ourselves no matter who they may be or who they love. If you're still wanting to go to church, Believe Out Loud has a list of churches that have submitted themselves as safe spaces for LGBTQ people. Just plug in your state and ZIP code. As for the topic, I've gotten minor flack for being asexual. Not "being kicked out" levels of shunning but more dismissive and patronizing comments. The most common ones are... - "Oh you just haven't met the right person yet." - "It's just a phase, you'll grow out of it." - "You're just scared of sex. Just do it and get it over with." - "Asexuality doesn't exist. Stop being a special snowflake." Worst case scenario is hurt feelings and dirty looks from members of the LGBTQ Club that think I don't belong because asexuality isn't a thing.

A 22 month old killed after being left in a hot car
Duster Dawnhorse commented on lomk's blog entry in General Thoughts
Around where I live there's almost always an emergency or tragedy that comes from leaving babies (and pets) in the car during the summer. On the outside it can get to be 106 degrees and about a month ago we had a 110+ degree heatwave. Where I work (a doggie daycare) we had to start offering free one hour daycare to members of the gym we share a parking lot with because people would lock their dogs in the car in high heat and we still see people do it. It breaks my heart just thinking what the child went through during those seven hours. What a horrific way to die. -

Hasbro copyrighted the word "brony"
Duster Dawnhorse replied to BronyPony's topic in Sugarcube Corner
It's not specifically saying it's a copyright issue with the word "brony." It's a really roundabout way of claiming copyright infringement on My Little Pony (since brony is commonly tagged with fan pony stuff.) People have been avoiding using pony names or pony tags for this exact reason. The best example I can think of is the adult Halloween costumes that were called things like "shy pegasus" and "fashion unicorn." We all know they mean Fluttershy and Rarity, but they're not using trademarked/copyrighted names so they can't be smacked by Hasbro lawyers. -

No. No you shouldn't try to convert people. It's annoying. It's one thing to say "I've been watching MLP. I really like it so far." It's another to badger people into submission until they can't stand to be around you because you won't leave them alone about their interests. Relentless obnoxious fans that wouldn't step off when I said I didn't like something/didn't care/wasn't interested in checking it out have turned me off or made me actively hate fandoms before. If someone shows interest, tell them where they can start. If someone goes "eh, not my thing," back off. Easy.

I sold this print at Club LUNA, a brony rave in Anaheim, CA. Much to my delight, we sold out of the large and gave away the remaining small prints! I'm quite proud of this piece and it came out lovely in both print and button form.

I'm waiting to see what's in the higher end packages before I register. If it's nothing of interest I'll get a regular registration.

Alternate History Thread (mainly for funsies)
Duster Dawnhorse replied to Mand'alor Dash's topic in General Discussion
As much as I love the "what if" history game, I have to question one aspect of your scenario. How would America go about changing its outlook? WWI and II were spun as ultimate acts and defenses of independent patriotism to the point both wars had propaganda departments. Considering America has an entire holiday dedicated to freedom, Creel's Committee on Public Information would have a tough nut to crack in order to make America sympathize with a lot of the tyrannical shenanigans going on in Europe. Would the CPI's message change? -

To the surprise of nobody; Tumblr. I have a pony icon and oppose a lot of the "social justice warrior" shenanigans that go on, so instantly I'm a misogynistic white male atheist brony. The fact I'm not misogynistic, atheist, or even a man doesn't deter them from insulting me. Then I'm supporting men stealing something from girls and I have internalized misogyny or something. I've learned to tune them out. If they can't see the hypocrisy of "Break gender roles! Girls can like guy things but guys liking My Little Pony is creepy and they better stop doing it!" then they're not worth listening to.

Being a fan of art, music, writing, etc is just as important as producing it! I'm an artist but if there weren't appreciators of art out there, I wouldn't have inspiration to create in the first place. Let me tell you from the perspective of someone who was fandom famous elsewhere; it kinda sucks. Random people bugging you to give them free stuff, pushy people who feel like they can dictate what you draw, those people who flip a lid if you don't reply to them specifically, and (if female) weird dudes trying to hit on you and show you their mature art collection. I wish I was making up that last one.
