Duster Dawnhorse

Here's Rainbow Power Duster. It's hard to rainbowfy a brown character.

My first ponysona was an orange and blonde GeneralZoi pegasus named Freebird that was pretty bland. Then she got a mane change (short brown with red highlights since I dyed it.) Now my ponysona is an eohippus named Duster Dawnhorse.

I use Youtube, surprisingly I didn't get country-locked even when I was studying abroad in Japan. I didn't have internet at my host family's house, so on the weekends I biked to a Starbucks, set up my laptop for a few hours, and caught up on episodes while sipping free samples from the baristas. As long as you bought something you could camp there for as long as you want.

I don't hide it or shove it in people's faces. I have pony stuff I tote around in public without comment, most commonly my RD purse and mane six belt I take to work. I used to wear pony enamel pins on my work shirt collar until I got moved to a different department. I'll talk if people ask but otherwise I stay quiet. Funnily enough I've become closer friends with the dog trainer I work with at Petco from my RD purse.

Duster is an ad and print designer. Flyers, magazines, that kind of thing. Mushiko doesn't have a job. She lives wild in the forest evading curious researchers and TV monster hunters trying to catch a glimpse of the elusive and rare kirin.

Ideally none since already there's too many fanon-to-canon which leads to entitlement but I'll put my soapbox aside. It's less OCs and more types of ponies. There's so many unique mythological hoofy creatures that would be cool in MLP. Kirin/Qilin, Perytons, the classic heraldic unicorn, sleipnir, and eohippi because why not. I'd love to see more types of sentient hooved creatures aside from ponies and buffalo.

Duster Dawnhorse: After being freed from the Canterlot Museum of Natural History by a royal pardon given by Twilight (Duster was duped into becoming a living exhibit on ancient ponies) Duster was lost. All she had known is her primitive society and that small exhibit. She was adopted by the museum night guard and his wife but still didn't feel like she had any meaning. She was an adult with no cutie mark and it made her insecure about herself. She often drowned her sorrows at a little coffee shop and befriended the owner. Eventually the coffee shop was under threat of going out of business. Duster was not about to let that happen and gathered what few art supplies she could find. While she was trained lightly as an artisan in her own society, she still was clueless about the materials of modern Equestria. She worked around the clock to create advertisements and menus with entirely new designs. The new print material was a hit, at the end of the week the coffee shop had earned more than enough to keep its doors open. At that final business tally Duster earned her mark for her talent in designing. Mushiko: Mushiko is a kirin, which means she does not get a cutie mark. Kirins instead are tattooed with glyphs telling the stories of their achievements. These tattoos are reserved for highly honored kirin, Mushiko has no interest is gaining a mark or a screed of nobility (the glyph tattoos.)

I've of course done fanart (see my DA in my sig) but I've also done custom ponies. My personal favorite is my second ever repainted blind bag, Hokusai.

What I'm about to say will not make sense at first, but lend me an ear. It's because this fandom has very little analyzers. "Now Duster you crazy little buzzkill with an adorable OC," you may be saying. "Why are there so many analysis channels on Youtube if there are very little analyzers?" The answer is simple; because they're either critics or nitpickers who think their opinions are fact. Those two things are not analysis. They're opinions. An analysis would be taking a topic and using evidence from elsewhere to sustain your analysis. You'd take excerpts from other episodes or staff quotes as sources for your thesis, explain why you think that supports your claim, and draw a conclusion based on your research. That's analyzing. An opinion is "I don't think X was done well because I don't like it" which is what a lot of "analyzers" are really saying when you take out the pretentious verbal padding. There's no evidence except the "analyzer's" personal opinion and honestly; who cares? A lot of analyzers bill their opinions as fact but they're not. And a lot of these also are excessively hairsplitty and minute that you actively have to TRY to not like something. It eventually gets to the point you're asking why anyone would care. This is why I live my life by the MST3K mantra; "Just repeat to yourself it's just a show and should really just relax." Also I cared enough to write lots of words at midnight. Enjoy.

Duster is impulsive. She doesn't think through the consequences of her actions and will dive into any idea she thinks sounds awesome. This also applies to how she talks because she doesn't have much of a filter. She's got a big mouth for a tiny pony and she cannot handle the backlash of said mouth. Mushiko is shy and sheltered. She spends most of her time on the present and doesn't take time to think about her past or future unless it's something overtly negative or something she can romanticize. She's not very grounded in facts and acts more on feelings or intuition than evidence, hence she'll often make completely blind assumptions.

Just my ponysonas. Duster Dawnhorse: Duster from the Dust Bowl (a personal interest of mine) and Dawnhorse is the literal translation of her species, eohippus. Mushiko: I love insects, and Mushiko is a kirin with an affinity for them. Japanese because she's a kirin, but Mushi (insect) + ko (diminutive/small/child) = Mushiko (little insect or insect child.)

The most ancient form of ponies, the eohippus still live in primitive societies governed by superstition. Whiel Duster has largely adapted to Equestrian life, she still has a fear of unicorn magic. In her society, the only magic that anypony is capable of is shamanistic spirit talking. Anything else is called witchcraft and considered an act of evil. Name: Mushiko Type: Kirin Gender: Bigender, functional hermaphrodite Appearance: Still designing. About alicorn Twilight size, cloven hooves, small horns that sweep back, and a scruffy mane around her neck. Her fetlocks are longer than normal and her belly, ankles, and wrists are covered in scales. Cutie Mark: None Hobbies: Exploration, history, research, insects Additional Details: Mushiko is a quiet and reserved kirin, an eastern form of unicorn from Neighpon. Her magic is more earth based but she has an uncanny affinity with insects. While she stays hidden in her selected forest, her presence ups insect activity. Local legend around the forest where she lives states that she leaves a trail of fly agaric mushrooms where she steps.

Celestia is for sure tied with Cadance for my favorite princess. Well okay, maybe Cadance a bit more, but there is no love lost for the sun goddess. While Luna's character did get fleshed out later, initially when the series premiere was literally the only thing the fandom had on Luna, I did not understand the rabid fanbase for her. Sure she has some interesting potential as a character but that got tossed aside for a quick and easy persecuted-Luna-careless-Celestia trope. I'm glad there's more fanworks giving some Celestia some love and a bit more understanding.
