  1. It feels like both a willing thing and an unwilling thing. He wanted it at first, but you could see him trying to break free, and the shadow wouldn't let him. Am I the only one who think's Styg's mindset is eerily relatable? I've had moments where I've felt wronged or spurned and had bitter thoughts. Not to the point of literal shadow, but the sentiment is there.
  2. But most people will wait and enjoy them. Like me. Though do the toy sales have anything to do with it? I know it's not my fault but that's always a gut reaction with me. Like I need to help somehow buy buying things or something? I would love to buy a high quality Glimglam plush but the only ones out there are the basic ones.
  3. Food for thought from EQD: "All of this information can easily change with such large timelines" "And again, we can't stress enough that most of this information could change easily if it is all real. The currently timeline is apparently way out into 2021."
  4. I just saw Shadow Play. I'm putting my metaphorical hat in for Styg. Love the dude. I might even be able to voice him in projects. That feeling of turning to darkness for comfort when you've been spurned.. it's eerily relatable. Spite and bitterness. I have those shades.
  5. It looks like this is for booping people here. Not for characters of the show. Well I'm breaking the rules. I'm booping Rainbow Dash. It's your fault, you're cute. I can do the same with the plush I have of you. The thread does say any.
  6. I stay away from spoilers when I can. And I'm not reading these, especially since they're leaks. But the idea of the show ending in a couple of years? In the weird happenstance of a dude like me watching a show that's not what it seems at face value and it's just grown from there into something awesome, I've become endeared to you. ,,,Girls, don't go, I love you guys. Please. That's really what I want to say.
  7. https://gizmodo.com/wait-can-congress-stop-the-fcc-from-trampling-net-neut-1821292981 "But the fight for a free and open internet isn’t over. Demand Progress, Fight for the Future, and the Free Press Action Fund are now calling on Congress to block the FCC’s new rules from ever going into effect. (Free Press and other organizations have also promised to sue to block the rules.) Under the Congressional Review Act, Congress could issue a resolution of disapproval and overrule the FCC’s decision. But it’s not going to be easy—the CRA only provides Congress a 60 day window in which to act, and a resolution of disapproval needs either presidential support or backing from two-thirds of the House and Senate. ... Rep. Doyle has announced he plans to introduce a resolution of disapproval that would overturn today’s FCC decision, with support from ten other Democratic representatives." There is more to come.
  8. It looks worrisome but it isn't finalized just yet. I believe congress has to approve it. Not to mention the many lawsuits that are hhappening,
  9. This I can agree with, omg I love her I bought the Dash 4de plush, but I've been wanting to get AJ too, I'm likely going to.
  10. I'd pick Dash, cause I love her a lot, plus she can kick flank and would help in the situation. Plus I don't think pegasus flying counts as "magic" to be inhibited by the hive. (so I guess I was thinking about the magic thing as a factor, I wonder if I should have clarified that, though I guess that's not a giant deal, I was thinking more of the episode situation)
  11. I got this idea from seeing To Where and Back again. I'm not going to lie, when I saw the mane 6 and everypony else trapped in the cocoons, I got a sort of protective urge that I've never felt on the show. Like if it was an RPG, this is where I would be saying like, "I've got to save them!" Seeing all the characters you've come to love in that situation (and even worse if you wonder about what the cocoons do them, in that not-quite-awake-not-quite-sleeping state) brought quite the heartstring tugging gotta-do-something response out of me in a way that show hasn't before. So I was wondering about that, and I had an interesting hypothetical what-if that I thought would be good to share. --- Somehow you've made it to the center of the Changeling hive, and you see everypony in the cocoons, with the urge to do something. But there's no time! It looks like you can only pick one of them to save! The guards will be here any minute. Who do you pick to save and why? Do you pick who you pick because you love them a lot and want to free them? Or do you pick them cause you think they'll help you against Chrysalis? Or both?
  12. Probably confusion or intrigue. Or Trixie would do this, as I was just reminded of:
  13. My Dash 4de plush. ^3^ (appropriate face) It's seriousy quite cute and well made. Have they stopped making the pony plushes? They were always my favorite looking, but I got mine from Amazon, because there's nothing about them on the 4de site... I wants a Glimglam!
  14. This is very much in the realm of overthinking it, but it's something I've wondered about, and this is probably the best place to talk about it. I'm sure many of you would admit to wanting to interact with and or hug and such, your favorite character(s) in the show. Goodness knows I have. But something always bugged me when I thought of that.. if you translate that sort of interaction into human rules, it gets... weird. You would be inclined to hug your favorite pony, nuzzle with her(or him?), and tell them how much you love them. But If you regard your favorite pony(s) as a human would another human, you wouldn't just hug them, it would be intrusive, or worse. Especially if it was one of the CMCs. I would hug Apple Bloom no problem, but if you tried that with a 3rd grader? Call the police! So wouldn't it work the same if you were a pony in the pony world? Would the rules be the same? The stigmas would be different. As a human you'd be tempted to cuddle them, but you wouldnt do that with other humans. You would have to know them super well or something.. So wouldn't ponies react the same way? Unlike the human rules though. not wearing clothes is seen as normal, but I think interactions between pony to pony would be seen as similar to human to human. But in the instinctiveness to adore one of the xharacters, you might rub them the wrong way. Star Tracker is a pretty cute and funny example of a similar reaction. But if you fangeeked out at your fav, there would be all these ramifications. You're adoring them, but basing on human customs. maybe they would not keen on it. Or maybe they would? In some case? Though you would probably take care to treat said pony the right way too. And this is worse. It's obvious Zephyr was doing things super wrong. I know I would feel bad if I did something to upset Applejack or Twi or someone in this hypothetical casee. That brings me to Fame and Misfortune, which i saw a few days ago. Pretty good and meaningful episode, and I'm glad to say I don't have anything in common with the complaining and nitpicking ponies. But I probably would be one of the supporter ponies. I think I would know when to get out of their manes. That takes into account that they're sort of celebrities too, that adds another layer. And then there's all the cases in the recent months of real people being ultra creepos that are being known. I saw this cute attractive image of Spitfire in her fan club thread, but although I want to love it, things like that just sort of bug me thinking about it, I dwell on it more than I need to or should. I know this is all weird to talk about, and is super unimportant, but it's some hypothetical thing that I've wondered about for some time. What do you think?
  15. Spitfire fan here. Was a huge fan of her personality and looks, which got me worried when i first saw Wonderbolt Academy. (who is the REAL Spitfire?) And I got real bummed. But I learned that must be what she has to be like with Wonderbolts business. I continue to be a big fan. You know those girls swooning at Feather Bangs? ...let;s just say I used to have the occasional shades of this sort of reaction with her. But she seems like an excellent motivator! Goodness knows I could use her.
  16. No, and very much. I've always wanted to make a big post about my issues with it that outline all the things I have against it, but I would be afraid i would be coming off as bad sounding or sounding like a crazy rant. In summary though, it's about- -The scientific regard to it, how there's so much humans have learned about the world as opposed to the believing things without neccesarily having scientific knowhow about it, a particular thing is like, carbon dating something to be a particular amount of years old using a scientific method, and some religious people see something like that as "testing their faith" despite scientists knowing the mechanics of carbon dating. (I'm a big science person.) -The morality of it, all the you shall not do this because it's what our religion says, but more the people trying to shove that in people's throats obnoxiously, in particular the obsession with hating guy people for doing things different, that really irritates me. I wish people like that would leave gay people alone, they aren't trying to do anything to anyone else. Once I get into a talk about this sort of thing it's easy for me to get in a rut. However I know that religion does things for good, helping others, lessons, all that, and that's cool and all, I just want people to stop with being obnoxious to others. (this would include people who feel the same way I do.)
  17. Starlight and Sunburst. So much. I've really started to realize, based on re-watching their episode in the Crystal Empire and reading about them, they speak to me a lot. Starlight: - Can get quite anxious - Had friends just leave or move - Has much to learn about friendship - Wants friends to share interests (uncommon bond, i felt so bad for her there, that's always been the way I felt most comfortable with making friends, I would additionally just want ti\o do the same one or two things all the time) I sometimes wish I could write Twi a letter for help, how are you supposed to help a pony who can't seem to make friends easily cause of your brain chemistry? And Sunburst is just love. Awkward cute dude.
  18. I just bought the Dash one of those, the 4de one, two days ago. I had known about those plushes for years, but for whatever reason never bought them. They continue to be, at least according to images, my favorite plushes of them, and the most well made. However, I got it through Amazon. Odd enough, I went to the 4de website to see if they had any new ones from X many years ago, and they're all out, and don't look like they're going to make more any time soon. Does anyone know why that is? I wants me a well made Glimglam! (And Sunburst!)
  19. Hey all. I haven't been on this board in some time, but I wanted to post something I've started to work on and get ideas and input. EDIT: Does this thread go in Photo Finish's Magics if I'm just looking for input? If so please move this. This guy. <3 I've been having a growing adoration of Sunburst in recent months. He and Starlight actually really speak to me a lot, what with their personalities and stories. Plus Sunburst is a serious cute dude. I started to get the idea: I should make his cloak! I did a lot of looking in fabric stores and such, and I bought the right material for what I want to do. A dark teal fleece fabric, which I was pretty particular about finding the right color. For the border, I originally wanted to use a light blue ribbon, but I found something even better that's specifically made for blankets and things. "Satin blanket binding." Light blue threads to sew with. Not pictured, but I got printable cotton that I'm going to make the stars out of. The fabric I got is a yard long, and like about 5 feet wide. Here's my idea: The most basic thing I can do, and the one that I wanted to do in the first place, is pretty much a throw blanket thing that I can wrap around me. But then I realized that if I do this, I might want to go all the way and make a for real cape or something, one that would have the popped collar and his symbol as a clasp, I could probably make that with wood or something. I don't know how to do a popped collar, or even if I want to. Not to mention this is being made for a biped, not a quadraped like Sunburst. As such I don't need it to match his body type and positioning in a perfect way. His doesn't have arm holes, it's just a drape, which would be best for me. Issues and questions: I wanted the stars to be iron on vinyl at first, but I learned that you really can't do that with the fabric I chose, so I found one that you don't need to iron on. You need fabric glue, which I don't have yet, I should know which one to get. I have practically zero experience using a sewing machine, I have a tiny one that I experimented with with the intent of making plushes, though that went nowhere, but I have an absolute basic basic knowledge of how to use a super basic one. And sewing a border like this onto fabric is a lot less complex than plushes. Anyone have any suggestions or comments? As far as I'm aware, this is the one of the only times this has been attempted. I've seen a couple of Sunburst cosplay images, but I don't think they have the stars. If I make this, I can't wait to show you!
  20. Has it been explained why? Is there a mention of yes Hasbro wants this so they can make toys of it? Because that makes sense. But I'm curious if that's really the reason they did it. Or if it's something else with the show.
  21. Rarity, for sure. She easily had been my least favorite of the six of them with my seeing the show at first. Fashion designer? Obviously really girly, that's not why I like the show! But like a lot of stuff, I grew to like her. She's more than just "fashion designer", even if I really don't do any of that. Or really care about fashion in any way. But I like her anyway.
  22. I used to dislike the CMC. Although I adore APple Bloom, I got disswayed by them in Stare Master. But now, I've gotten to really like them. The most annoying thing in the show to me is the Oink Oink Oink song. Aside from Mare Do Well, if she does that it's fairly light/not as much of a big deal, IMO. Just look at Lightning...
  23. I don't really care for it. There's a bunch of types of it though. I don't mind it if it's in bits and pieces/to make a dramatic/serious point in something, even with that it has to be done right, like something out of an RPG or something. But really I don't care for it much though. I've read synopses/descriptions of some stories like Sweet Apple Massacre without actually reading the story, that's usually enough. I get a real WTF? out of it, but it probably wouldn't offput me as much as reading the story, which sounds bad. I do like Story of the Blanks though.
  24. I've mentioned the show to family and some friends online, as a "this show is really good despite what you would see as the preconceived notion" thing. But with others, I'm not outgoing at all. I've been even advised against getting a Derpy shirt because of what attention I could get. Even MLP shirts that are more sutble that don't have ponies everywhere on it. I almost got a Wonderbolts hoodie at the store though.
