  1. Stop having a song in every other episode. The music of season 1 was special, because musical numbers were rare. Every old-school brony has memorized the words to "Winter Wrap-Up" and "Art of the Dress" because for a long time, there weren't that many other songs. Nowadays, there are so many musical numbers that it's no longer a special moment when the ponies sing. It also seems that having to churn out so many songs is taking a toll on the composers, because most of the recent songs are completely unmemorable, unlike the older songs. I can't remember the melody from a single one of the musical numbers from "Magical Mystery Cure" or "Crusaders of the Lost Mark", which is impressive considering how many there are. If they could dial back their numbers and make three great songs per season, rather than ten "meh" songs, I would be quite happy. Of course, they can still have a bunch of short Pinkie songs, but full-fledged musicals should be saved for the important moments.
  2. This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I dislike most of the songs in the show. I'm just not that into musicals. However, the absolute worst musical number is by far "Racist Barn" due to its boring melody and repetitive lyrics which barely try to rhyme. Honorable mention goes to the musical episodes (Magical Mystery Cure, Pinkie Pride, Crusaders of the Lost Mark) because despite being full of songs, I can't remember how any of them go. I guess the show has reached the "song saturation point": it's hard to get excited for a new song when there's one in nearly every other episode.
  3. It's still just a small addition to the episode. A minor change CAN have major repercussions.
  4. Well, it's minor in that it's just adding a small scene of Twilight sending a letter and getting a reply. It would take up one minute at most.
  5. The problem with that episode isn't that it's too short, or that it's a musical. Its biggest flaw is the fact that the ending is completely detached from the rest of the episode. Twilight swaps everyone's cutie marks, then fixes them, then she's a princess for some reason. The original script had a minor difference which ended up making the ending more coherent: Twilight tried asking Celestia for help, but the reply she got indicated that not even an Alicorn was powerful enough to undo the magic (Also, the cutie marks were swapped by Pandora's Box rather than a botched spell, but that's not important). In this version of the story, Twilight bringing everything back to normal feels more like an accomplishment worthy of becoming a princess, since she did something other Alicorns could not, meaning that her power level is already close or superior to Celestia and Luna's. Of course, making it into a two-parter or not have as many songs WOULD have helped it too, but only if they fixed the biggest flaw of the story as well.
  6. I thought of another episode that many people seem to like, but I can't stand: Sweet and Elite Let's count all the awful deeds Rarity commits during the episode: Lying about who Rainbow Dash is, to protect her reputation Neglects working on Twilight's dress. This one pisses me off the most, because her lack of effort results in her accidentally making what Twilight wanted. Moral: no need to put in hard work, keep procrastinating and the work will do itself. Mistreats Opalescence to make an excuse (Also lying to her friends in the process) By the end of the episode, no one is none the wiser about all of these things. She gets away with it all without having to apologize or confess. What an awful moral to teach to little kids!
  7. There is no such thing as "in between agnostic and atheist". Either you believe in god, or you don't. "Agnostic" is a modifier you add to your position to specify that you are not 100% certain in your belief (or lack thereof). So you ARE an atheist. Personally, I consider myself to be anti-theist, meaning that I believe religion does more harm than good overall. Just look at the way gay people are treated, even in developed countries like the USA, to see proof of the evils of organized faith.
  8. My theory here is a bit different from the others': I believe that dark magic is actually just Alicorn magic, used by a non-Alicorn. The evidence for this is that when Twilight uses Alicorn magic, the glow effect on her horn is the same as when she uses dark magic. So I believe that through dark magic, any unicorn can cast spells as powerful as an Alicorns'. However, this also has a corrupting/addictive effect on their mind, and if used in excess may lead to them becoming evil (So it is a bit like the Force in this regard). Only an Alicorn has the strength of mind and soul to resist the corruption, allowing them to freely use these spells.
  9. My two most hated episodes are Tanks for the Memories and Slice of Life, both of which have lots of fans. Tanks for the Memories has nearly ruined Rainbow Dash as a character, by showing that she is willing to go to disturbing lengths for a minor personal gain. But the thing that ruins the entire episode is that she never has to apologize for her horrible deeds. No one is even aware that she blew up the factory. The only way I can tolerate seeing her on screen anymore is by pretending that the whole thing never really happened, erasing the episode from my mind. And then there's Slice of Life, the only episode which I couldn't stand to watch in its entirety. It was almost physically painful to see the fandom's memes butchered in that way. I think that the scene that best exemplifies why Slice of LIfe is a bad episode is the opening. The "joke" there is just that Derpy says "Muffin". Yes, that's literally the entirety of the "comedic value" of that scene. That's not even a joke, that's just acknowledging that the fandom says these things sometimes. If you're not into the fandom, you won't get the joke, and if you are, you've seen it done better in fan works.
  10. I'm about 80% sure that the entirety of "Bloom and Gloom" is a reference to Persona 4. Apple Bloom faces her "shadow", which has glowing eyes and talks with a weird effect in its voice, who shows her the parts of her psyche that she tries to ignore. The key to defeating it turns out to be accepting that these things are a part of you. And then she can summon a demon by kicking tarot cards. I do have some doubts that the writers of a little girl's show would draw inspiration from a niche, M-rated JRPG, but the similarities are too strong to completely ignore.
  11. I actually agree with this. You know how most bronies detest Flash Sentry for being a shallow love interest who doesn't do anything but blush at another character? Marble Pie's relationship with Big Mac is literally the same thing.
  12. It's not even about the Mane 6's friendship, it's specifically about Rainbow Dash. That one pony is the lynchpin holding the world together. Without her, everyone else is screwed.
  13. We HAVE seen Earth pony magic in action See how AJ makes flowers grow in seconds? That's a pretty magical ability.
  14. My headcanon is that every pony can cast magic, not just unicorns. The unicorn's horn increases the range and power of magic, but other ponies can channel weak, short-range spells through their hooves (Horns and hooves are both made from the same substance). This means that they can use a weak telekinesis spell to pick up small objects. You'll note that earth and pegasus pony magic that we know of is cast through the hooves: earth ponies can make plants grow where they step, and pegasi can manipulate clouds. So this additional small magic power would not be too much of a stretch.

    general media One Punch Man

He sure is. I don't normally get "feels", but when he was fighting against the Sea King, I couldn't help but tear up a little bit.

    general media One Punch Man

One Punch Man started off as an awfully-drawn webcomic. A professional artist liked it enough to redraw it in an extremely detailed style. Recently, it also got adapted into an anime which just ended. Basically, it's about some guy who became the strongest superhero in the world, to the point where he can beat anyone with one punch (hence the title). He has grown bored of life due to the lack of challenges, and seeks a worthy opponent, to no avail. Any fans around here? Who is the best hero? (answer is Mumen Rider).
  17. This seems counter-intuitive. If a player doesn't feel passionate about a game, I'd think they'd be LESS inclined to spend $45 on microtransactions than a player who loves the game and plays every day. So I think that this specific example is a stupid move, if only because those who need it are unlikely to care enough about the game to justify its price.
  18. I think you're talking about a specific subset of fans of a certain fanfiction titled "The Conversion Bureau". I never cared about this fanfic, and I think most other bronies feel the same as I do. Your mistake here is thinking this tiny group of fans is representative of the entire fandom.
  19. Starlight is my favorite villain so far. The fact that she's a normal pony with no unique powers makes her seem more realistic and darker, as it shows that not everyone in Equestria is as happy and friendly as what we normally see. However, I felt like the motive the show gave her for becoming evil was much too weak on its own. And in a way, wasn't SHE the one who abandoned her friend when he got his cutie mark, rather than vice-versa? I think she must already have had a lot of problems BEFORE that happened.
  20. I think that fake-retro games appeal to the older gamers' nostalgia", and to the younger gamers' respect for the "good old classics". Also, low-res 8-bit sprites are easier to draw.
  21. If My Little Pony worked by the rules of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, the result would not have been pretty: when something gets too close to its equivalent from an alternate universe, the two gets violently smooshed together, causing a gruesome death if it happens to a living being. So maybe Twilight is an Otaku who likes JoJo and was worried about this happening to her for a second.
  22. So, what is you guy's opinion on the GameFAQs best game contest, where Undertale has somehow massacred its way through several highly acclaimed games (including Pokemon and two Mario titles) and is now on its way to challenge Ocarina of Time tomorrow?
  23. I'm pretty sure that Applejack is many fan's second favorite character, and has relatively fewer haters compared to the rest of the cast. Her personality isn't as extreme as Pinkie, Rainbow, or Fluttershy, which means that she's not as notable in the eyes of most people, but also that she's not as grating. Personally, she's my number one favorite of the Mane 6 because she has the best values.
  24. While I agree that not hitting the viewers over the head with the morals is a good thing most of the time, there are a few episodes where the message is really hard to find. For example, I'm still not sure what the moral of "The Lost Treasure of Griffinstone" is supposed to be. The best I can come up with is "friends are good", but that's a bit too obvious, not to mention that the entire show is constantly telling you that already.
