    That BS song sequence really hurt Starlight's popularity even today, they could just leave it open and make an episode for it, but no, they want to continue 'Happy season finale ending song sequence to end the season on high note' tradition, and thank god, there are no songs in S6, S7 finale. There is no way to fix that BS song now. The only way to fix it that i could think of is: maybe Twilight is the one who came to Equal Town, convinced Equal Four to forgive Glimmy and bring her here to prove whether she is remorseful for her actions or not, done. Writers, take this idea and make an episode, i swear it will fix everything.

    Please, Princess Twilight Sparkle, how long you need to imprison Starlight with your cold hard castle :rarity: She need to develop her hobbies more than just kites and boardgames, you know? Surround yourself with a ton of book is boring, dont make her another nerd like you plz, let her go human world to have some fresh air sometimes, you know :) Learning too much magics will make you mad, like Sunset, and look where she is now, a perfect healthy human being...

    They did it to her in the comic too... I know her magic based on her emotion but at its worse it will never be worse than Trixie (she can throw the huge rock at the mole in To Change a Changeling). They just nerfed character power for no reason at all, that BS. If that said villain could weaken Discord PERMANENTLY, then you dont have repeat it every season. And these episodes will have less than 10 minute because Discord could just snap it in 30s, the rest 9 minute and 30s will be used for introduce the conflicts and Opening/Credit songs.

    They need to find a way to weaken him if they want him appear more often or else, he will have to be disappeared whenever the writers want to raise the stake. They could use Discordant Harmony episode to make some excuse like due to his trying to live in harmony with ponies, his power getting less powerful. Rewrite his effects or ban him.

    3.5/5 The story is generic, many two-parters of the show had even better story, plot twist than this movie. The songs, the V.As, soundtracks are incredible, they are already one of the show biggest strengths and they still true in the movie. All the songs are great, Daniel Ingram magic is strong in this movie. The show V.As still great as usual, the celebrities nailed their characters. The visuals are nice but they are not totally 2D, some CGI animation just looks ... OK at best, i just wish they went full 2D, but it will be expensive, i guess. Character designs are good, really pleasant to watch, my only complain is the princesses design looks bad, i am glad they are captured so i dont have to see them. Mane Character are not matched to their current development of the show (This movie occured between S7 and S8), their characters should belong to S4 or something (i guess the script was written during between S4 and S5). The half of mane 6 are just there, they just look very 'basic', only Twilight, Pinkie, Rainbow actually do something interesting. Pinkie is the most amazing mane character of group, most of funny scenes came from her, her confrontation with Twilight was good, she look like a second leader to me. Fluttershy, on the other hand, had very few dialogues, did nothing noticeable beside the final battle, which is a shame to her 7 seasons of development. Twilight was nerfed too much, she didnt use teleportation spell in the movie, i dont know why she look so weak in this movie, maybe for story progression because she kinda OP. Twilight's 'Putting Your Hoof Down' moment was a great idea but they feel forced that made Twilight look OUT OF CHARACTER, can you imagine S7 Twilight can say those hurtful words to her friends? Even Twilight at her worse didnt go that far, she even try to steal the artifact, that's low, thanks god that she realized she fucked up instantly. The other non-mane characters are ok. Tempest is cool but not a really villain. Storm King is just a combination of Tirek and Discord, not very funny and not very threatning at all, his most memorable moment is his own death. Grubber is meh, just a throwaway character. Capper is charming. Celaeno looks cool but she didnt have much screentime. Skystar and her mom are so cute, i want to spend more time with them. Sia pony is just being Sia .All these characters served their purposes, i wish the writers could flesh out their characters more. I knew the comic existed, but if you need other materials outside the movie to understand the movie, you failed. And one more thing... Where is Starlight Glimmer? Discord? Thorax? Shining Armor? Element of Harmony? Pillars? Is it supposed to be canon? The movie did a poor job to appeal both new audiences and old audiences. New audiences feel overwhelmed by a ton of references that the only fan of the show can understand. They make the movie event right after S7 but the script was written like this movie is right after S4/S5. If they want to appeal new audiences, just make a stand-alone movie, If they just want to appeal the old fan, just make it like a true sequel to S7 and release it for Mlp fan only, pick one.

    Well, that's the point of this thread, imagine an alternative universe where you can only choose 1 of 2 plushies, Sunset or Starlight, and have to abandon one of them in the desert, what will you choose? Lol

    It means unicorn race is the race that easy to be corrupted Whenever a unicorn is unhappy, a million will suffer. They need psychologists more than any race of Equestria. Only Earth Ponies are the most happy race because they usually positive, even the most depressing one didnt go around and screw people. There are some proof: Unicorns went to wrong path: Tempest, Starlight, Stygian, Sombra, Flim & Flam (they screw the world in alternative timeline) Earth Ponies with not very happy background but still a decent pony: Maud, Cheese Sandwich, Pinkie Pie There are corrupted Earth pony like Gladmane or Sven, but they didnt become an evil emperor that ruin over hundred Earth ponies life, a cult leader and woobie destroyer of the world, a Eldritch worshipper that will relinquish light and hope, evil businessmen that could ruin Equestria by turn everything into factories. ........................ Yeah, Stygian is a villain and a Unicorn, perfectly logical.

    Cart Before The Ponies, 28 Pranks Later, P.P.O.V, Honest Apple and Secret & Pies, that all i can think of, for now. I welcome old-fashioned episodes as long as they are funny and still connect to recent development of characters, or at least make a bit sense. To be honest, a lot of modern FIM episodes, while they have many good moral lessons to teach kids and adults, they are a bit boring sometimes, some old-fashioneds bring back some zaniness that make me laugh out loud, Secret & Pies is the best old-fashioned episode out of these episode i mentioned and a truly great one.

    l actually like them both but i like Starlight better because she has more rooms for development, she is a very flawed character and still struggle to become better pony. Sunset is an awesome character to see on-screen but i have to admit that she doesnt have anything that i want to explore. Sunset is a very lovely character, nothing really wrong with her, but i prefer a bad person who struggle to become a good person more than an incorruptible angel kind of character. I like Sunset because she is a very likable character. I like Starlight because she is a very relatable character.

    Chrysalis will be betrayed by Tirek, and Tirek will get killed by her in return, like Tempest and Storm King, the staffs like reusing ideas so i am confident about that theory. There is no way Tirek will be reformed and by captured again, and there is no way Chrysalis will not be reformed which go against the show's messenge and she is a female character, so i dont think she will get killed. Tirek will get his 'Disney Death' and Chrysalis will be reformed or at least become neutral evil/anti-hero a.k.a not totally evil anymore.

    After Uncommon Bond and Shadow Play, i have no interesting in StarlightxSunburst because ... and... This. Yeah, Sunburst can now replace Flash Sentry now.

    Starswirl is a jerk in the finale but he isnt always like that, his companion respect him, alicorn sisters had fond memories with him and dont forget Starwirl accepted Scorpan offers to protect the land.

    Discord is still a god-like creature with free spirit, Tirek offered him freedom which is more important to Discord at that time, with Tirek, Discord can be himself again.

    Damn right, when the show cant take anything seriously, dont expect the audiences will take it seriously either, like what we are doing right now, discussing a show for little girls to sell some ugly G1 dolls.

    And Pony of Shadow cant have any chance to explain himself if Twilight didnt take any action, seriously, in Pillars's story, all you see is Stygian stole his friends's artifacts and become villain, no one can actually understand his motivations. Pony of Shadow is not Trixie or any mundane villain that you just have some sweet time to have a decent conversation, that creature can replinquish the land with darkness for Celestia sake, a rational human being wont ask a terriorist why he doing his things while he is holding a button, guess what, a pony, Starlight Glimmer did that. When Starlight suggested that they can talk with Pony of Shadow, i was like 'What?! Are you stupid? I know you like to reform everyone but that shadow dude look like another Tirek'

    Yes, good point. Remember how the mane 6 treat Discord during season 4 after Keep Calm and Flutter On? They even try to banish him again (beside Fluttershy) in S4 premiere. When they are betrayed in Twilight Kingdom, they didn't understand why, guess what, you never actually treat him like a friend anyway. Uh wait, remember the Reformation Spell in Keep Calm. Mane 6 records are all about defeat the villains by kicking their ass (they defeat villains like breakfast). Why Starlight can come to the conclusion before anyone else? Well, she learned a lesson from To Change a Changeling, she did try to kick Pharyxn out once without consideration until she listened to Thorax story, she learned her lessons.

    Chrysalis will be reformed, obviously, this is FIM, they did that with many recently villains so they could do with her, her reject in S6 finale is just a delay to an inevitable. I just wish they could do the reformations in the most believable way as much as possible, which is mostly impossible. Seriously, Chrysalis is a sadistic villain with many irredeemable qualities, how can they make me sympathize with this character without my suspension of disbelief, that would be a challenge for the show. Will she turn 100% good and join the cast? Or She will deny friendship a second time and still a villain? Or she will turn into anti-hero, not good but not evil??? I think the last two options are the best that the show could pull off, the first is just too predictable and repetitive, i predict they will make Chrysalis be betrayed by her partner in crime and realize the error of her ways, like Discord or Tempest, i hope they could prove me wrong because the show did that to me sometime...

    If they want to go that route, the most tricky part will be how to make Starlight buy that in logical way. How they could make Starlight to believe Twilight, her most dearest teacher can do something like insulting her, verbal abuse her, like Starlight's nightmare in S6 finale? It must be Movie-Twilight's level of insulting to break Starlight's heart. Chrysalis should cast spell on Maud, Trixie, and Sunburst too, they are her precious friends beside Twilight, if they turned on her (in believable ways, of course), that will drive Starlight insane... Then Chryssie will act like a 'good friend' to comfort Starlight and we will got Top 10 anime betrayal...

    I used to consider S7 a mediocre season with a few episodes that pissed me off (very hard) and some very mediocre ones, i gave up after episode 18, i didnt expect anymore greatness from the season (episodes after the first half, beside two-parters, usually not very good compare to the first half) then episode 19-26 blew me away, much better than i expected, much better. Sorry S6, but S7 made a very good comeback, S7 just has too many amazing episodes that answer some fan's wishes, that's unfair, i know ;).

    S2>S5>S7>S6=S4>S1>S3

    Celestial Advice (Celestia finally got characters)

    All Bottled Up 

    Rock Solid Friendship (Best friendship of 2017)

    Parental Glideance (another Scootalove moment since Flight to Finish)

    A Royal Problem (my wet dream come true)

    Discordant Harmony (or how to kill Discord)

    The Perfect Pear (freaking unbalance OP shit, that is so unfair, even high emotional Amending Fence cant top this)

    Fame & Misfortune (a dark side of Slice of Life, dark corner of fandom)

    To Change a Changeling (better changeling reformation than The Times They are a Changeling)

    It isnt Mane Thing About You (a simplistic slice of life episode done well)

    Once Upon a Zeppelin (another amazing Twilight episode that i waited for a long time since Amending Fence)

    Secret & Pie (S1 madness)

    Shadow Plays (4th finale opened up too many possibilities for the future)

    Just unfair...

      Cause I agree, those episodes sucked almost as bad as "Applejack's Day Off"...

      Aha, you read my mind, most part of its anyway :orly: I will reveal the rest of my least favorites to you:

      Flurry of Emotions : meh, nothing spectacular, but it did nothing to make me mad, i dont hate this, it's cute and inoffensive...

      Fluttershy Leans In  : If you read my rant, you will know i called this ep the worst ep of the entire series (i remember you already read that blog)

      Honest Apple : This ep is dull, the worst fashion-theme episode, Applejack is so mean, i just dont want to watch the rest of this ep. The solution in the end is just so dumb that completely killed this ep (you dont want hurt anyone feeling so you let all of them win? Mlp should not touch episodes about competition). The return of two old characters remind me of 2 classic episodes of S1 that pissed me even more...

      Hard to Say Anything : Beside the funny song sequence, the rest of this ep is trash.

      Triple Threat : This ep is so dumb, i try to rewatch it several time and i still cant stand it, Spike is so dumb, look at other Spike in any ep of this season and compare to THAT Spike and tell me it's the same Spike we expected to see... The map subplot is come out of nowhere and completely unnessary, so many dumb choice of writting in this ep. Ember and Thorax are cool but they are in the wrong episode.

      Daring Done : This ep looks fine until RD being kidnapped without any resistence (really!???)... that scene somehow ruined the whole episode for me...

      I suppose it is just my hate for Flurry Heart that made dislike that episode so much. But even without my bias, it was still a very mediocre episode. The moral has been done before.

      Yeah, we can both agree that episode was absolute garbage. I do not know why some people like it.

      I despised that episode. Like seriously, whoever wrote this episode needs to be fired, because they clearly do not understand the characters.

      If you find cringe funny, than you might like this episode. But if you just find cringe cringy, than this is one of the worst episodes of the show.

      Yeah, I hated this episode. I still enjoyed it because Ember and Thorax are such likable characters. But it really pissed me off that I enjoyed it. It was so poorly written. This is the kind of quality you would get from a normal kid's show. Not the higher quality of MLP.

      Yeah, that pissed me off too. But what really pissed me off was the steam things acting as a bridge. I was enjoying the episode until that point. Than when I saw that I basically screamed at the screen "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!!". Like seriously? Steam getting them across the slime? I thought it would be like an invisible bridge or something (like in Indiana Jones), not just a HOPE ex machina getting them across. I mean come on.

       

      So yeah, we agree on those episodes.

    One thing that bother me in this ep is they make Starlight look more... uhm... that word is a bit harsh... ... pathetic, yeah, pathetic, i cant find any better word right now. Unlike All Bottled Up/Rock Solid Friendship/Fame & Misfortune show us she is more confident and better than her old 'Every Little Thing she Does', then this ep just remind us how narrow-mind she was in S5 and S6. She loves Magics, Kites and... a Boardgame, a specific boardgame? could just make her like boardgames in general so she could have some bondings with Spike too. This ep could be better if they make Starlight TRY to have fun with Sunburst and her friend instead of signs, making some annoying face, leaving, or doing some crazy magics to make them become kids, they repeated the montage song four times, i get it, she and Sunburst dont have many things in common anymore but they didnt do anything new each montage with Starlight did nothing but being bored, beside the scene she played that boardgame with Sunburst and Twilight, i like that part because she at least TRY to catch his attention, it's more fun to see Starlight try so hard to have fun with Sunburst but then she cant take it anymore and desperately try to catch his attention but failed then we can come the climax, they could make the scenes with foal Starlight&Sunburst a bit longer (it's just too short) to build up the tension more and more and boom, he pissed off then we can get the rest of the episode like the original. The episode is ok, but i think they could make Starlight even more interesting (or the episode itself), i actually learned nothing new about her in this ep at all.
