  1. "The Alicorns" could really just mean 2 alicorns, though, couldn't it? That line in itself doesn't at all imply there's "quite a few" of them.
  2. The near-human intelligence of the ponies was bestowed upon them by the Tree of Harmony 1,982 years ago; The tree is a sentient being in itself, and experimenting with the animal populations in the land around it, effectively playing God. However, the structure of pony brains is not *meant* to process advanced thought. This is why ponies remain relatively innocent and child-like even well into maturity, and why their "civilization" (such that it is) seems so basic. Some ponies (wild mustangs like Ms. Peachbottom) even remain mostly wild, and cannot cope with the artificial nature of civilization (the reason Peachbottom suffered intense claustrophobia when subjected to indoors environments). Another harmful and terrible side effect of this forced "intelligence" is that their small pony brains simply cannot cope all the time. Occasionally, when experiencing particularly complex emotions, we begin to see seams and cracks in the "programming". If allowed to continue for too long, the Tree of Harmony's hold will be broken and these ponies will revert to the natural behaviors of their ancestors. Cutie marks also likely tie in - The ponies are not truly fully capable of independent thought, and must be told (at least in a general sense) "what to do" in order to avoid suffering similar strains. It is likely the Tree's meddling will end badly for the species as a whole; It has lately been doubling its efforts and trying to increase the pressure (accounting for the increasing amount of human-like technology, affectations and behavior in recent seasons). The Tree knows its hold is weakening, but its efforts to compensate may result in overloading the animals' tiny brains. Chaos, insanity and possible brain damage are the likely result.
  3. The Shining Armor and Blueblood issue of the comics (a fun issue that I highly recommend) has a bit of Celestia; She seems to have a fairly positive view of Blueblood. Suffice to say Shining Armor has his doubts. ;P
  4. Cadance is adopted, but Blueblood has been explained by Lauren Faust to be Celestia's great-great-great-great (about 51 greats total) nephew.
  5. What if they did a live action movie with real ponies?
  6. No, the Journal of the Two Sisters shows she called her Celie.
  7. Fun Fact the Second: Sibsy never actually said the shooting stars meant they were dead. Someone simply asked if the stars represented AJ's parents, and Sibsy basically just said "Yeah" without further elaboration.
  8. Applejack's parents have actually never been confirmed canonically dead. Faust just said she would have *LIKED* for them to be dead, but that it would've likely be deemed too dark for a kids' show, so she and the crew discussed them being traveling salesponies or explorers instead. Faust went on to say it's undefined where they are until someone decides to do something with them. (Also, from what Faust said, the meta reason for their parents being absent was because she wanted to include Granny but didn't want to ruin the small tight family dynamic - The way she tells it, it sounds like she only wanted to say "they're dead" because it was a clean simple answer for their absence that avoided further complication)
  9. Not quite. That's generally the case, but the comics do sometimes make callbacks, or the different series sometimes tie into each other. To be safe I'd recommend looking up release dates and reading everything in release order. The books sometimes even reference the comics, and vice versa. The pirate arc of the comics actually makes references to the Under the Sparkling Sea picture book.
  10. No more than the average person, maybe even slightly less. I had a time a few years back when I managed to go a long time - Six months or more, maybe - without telling a single lie. Sadly that wasn't sustainable. But that shows it can be done. Made a conscious effort to be completely transparent about everything during that time.
  11. In universe I think they're from Equestria. "Indian ponies" may not be a thing in universe. I mean, they're obviously based on Indians, but their accents and food might be unique, not part of some cultural background. Which still begs the question how they got those accents in the first place, but never mind that. Hmm, I find it curious how a post of mine got removed for pointing out some actual (negative) things in India that make this episode's portrayal of the two unlikely. I assure you, if you research India, you'll find that not a single thing I said is untrue or inaccurate. There really is a serious problem there with exploitation of the lower classes. They really do widely use child labor as household servants. Marriages are typically arranged when a girl is in her 20s at the most (and sadly in many cases younger), due to Indian ideas about fertility. That isn't racist, it's factual information. I find it deeply ironic as a result that my post would be removed (for presumably reasons of that type), considering the topic of this thread. I even balanced it by expressing my support for Indian vegetarianism and India being the birthplace of my favorite pacifistic religion, Jainism.
  12. No? Well, I'll start. The prince was on royal business in Las Pegasus recently - The resort, you know, in the west - Awful, garish place - And at any rate, there was a fellow there I think would've made for a fine diplomat. He seemed to almost be taking a page out of Blueblood's playbook. Unsurprising, of course, considering His Royal Highness does have many admirers (as evidenced above - Merci beaucoup!)
  13. More referencing Mythica; I wonder if Berrow went to Cornell or something.
  14. Really, this lack of conversation simply won't do. One would almost think you hadn't learned anything from Whitley's delightful account.
  15. But they *are* as bad as they seem. Thorax was the exception, not the rule.
  16. Strikes me as a potentially dangerous and unhealthy relationship (though not quite in the usual sense). Changelings feed on love. Maybe it's okay if Thorax's pony friends share their platonic love with him in small doses. But imagine someone wasting away in love with Thorax, slowly dying/being drained by him. And Thorax's own attachment to them being based on that terrible, addictive love.
  17. This isn't a matter of opinion; It's a matter of how things work in real life. The fact is that "kings and queens" aren't the sole category of rulers, and that Celestia herself is an example of this.
  18. About that one guy, that's not the *only* thing - Though it was probably the biggest sign for me. There's other stuff too, sadly. And as for Spike... Well, then, maybe his "actual age" is even younger than that, considering he is (as you pointed out) a baby dragon... ;P
  19. Dang, this would've been the perfect counter to someone a month or two back if I'd thought of it. There's this one really messed up guy who comments on Equestria Daily (I'm pretty sure he's a pedophile), and at one point he was arguing (and linking) some long thing he wrote up a explaining his theory (which he thinks is conclusive, and that anyone who argues is only doing so because they're "close minded") that in Equestria sexual relationships with children are normal and healthy, and essential to the species' survival. (He even argued that Rarity and Sweetie Belle are in a relationship. Yeah... This guy is seriously messed up. ) I think Celestia's just a little over 1000, actually. As for Spike, someone once asked Faust about how old he was - Elementary school, junior high, etc - and she said something along the lines of "Elementary. I see him as being about 8 in terms of maturity". (She's described the Mane 6 as 12-17 maturity-wise, for the record)
  20. No, but my parents did. As a "Whiskeypalian", though, I'm no stranger to people around me imbibing. A parish I used to attend served sherry at coffee hour. Actually, does a sip of communion wine when I go to church (which isn't always...) count?
