The one time I played a compulsive eating/dieting hypnosis cassette tape I felt a little chilled out and slightly less anxious about eating but I don't think I concentrated enough or did it consistently enough to let it take full effect.

Do You Try To Live By The Morals Of The Show?
On-Locoweed replied to Midnight Oil's topic in Sugarcube Corner
I think it made me reconsider my more dour and solipsistic turns as phases and not who I was deep down. Friends really are a blessing sometimes. I would say the moral I take away from the show is that one should try to be a good person and that healthy social relationships are a possibility (someday). -

Pretty dope. Reminds me of this one Van Halen song or video game music.

movies/tv Thread for lovers of documentaries.
On-Locoweed replied to TheMarkz0ne's topic in Media Discussion
I have some pretty cool Bob Dylan documentaries like No Direction Home directed by Martin Scorsese and Don't Look Back by D.A. Pennebaker. Marwencol is really cool, Herb and Dorothy was a neat watch, Revolution, a 1968 documentary about the counterculture movement in San Francisco, is a cool time capsule with a good soundtrack. Also I really enjoyed Michael Moore documentaries at a previous time in my life, namely Bowling for Columbine and Capitalism: A Love Story. -
My favorite edm/electronic song would be... I appreciate the deteriorated sound and the vocal samples in it. Great song from a fan-freakin-tastic album, Geogaddi, by BoC.

music Name your next music album that you plan to purchase.
On-Locoweed replied to KeithDJohnson's topic in Media Discussion
I collect vinyl mostly when it comes to owning formats of music, but I hoard CDs and cassette tapes too (I love finding people's old mixtapes in thrift stores). My 8-track collection is growing as well. I'm an impulse buyer so I will buy whatever I want, but lately I've been thinking about sticking to anything released between 1977-1983. My dad found a copy of Remain in Light for me but I don't have it in my hands yet, but when I do I'm gonna play it to death! (So, it's been bought, but I don't have it yet so it counts) I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to find an original copy of Loveless by My Bloody Valentine, but I'd settle for a reissue if I had to...which I might have to do. Then, I'd also love to find a copy of Slint's last release, the untitled EP, since I have LPs of their first two records that are awesome. Just one more, because I have a lot. I'd like to find a 12" copy of Boards of Canada's In a Beautiful Place Out In The Country EP. I'm going to Germany toward the end of this month for a few weeks and I would REALLY relish going to some stores over there and buying some Krautrock records or stuff you just can't find in the US very often. So excite!!! -
movies/tv Horrifying movie scenes as a child?
On-Locoweed replied to TigerGeekGuy's topic in Media Discussion
When it was my birthday and I sat there with my dad and saw Tony Soprano's therapist get raped in a parking garage stairwell. I fixated on that for a while because I hadn't seen that level of graphic sexual violence on tv before. -
Nice Work by David Lodge, Convergence Culture by Henry Jenkins, Reading Lolita in Tehran by Azar Nafisi, and two George Orwell biographies. I'd like to pick up The Disappointment Artist by Jonathan Lethem and How Music Works by David Byrne soon too. Also, some of those 33 1/3 series books on some albums I like, particularly the ones on Fear of Music and Homogenic.

visual art The Epitome of BS
On-Locoweed replied to SugarfootWillie's topic in Non-Pony Art & Creations
One time I was tripping at night with a friend and I slipped on a patch of ice in a parking lot. This reminds me of falling down and landing on my back, eyes wide open and lookin up at the night sky, the wind knocked out of me and tweakin out. Also, the one time I stayed up for 40 hours and then got punched in the eye. I saw stars then too. -
I wouldn't mess with this guy, he's carrying a gun.

Living in a really old house has given me some experiences with some strange energies from the past. My family and I have had brief encounters with "presences" that we believe are previous inhabitants of our home. There's one corner of my old room at home that always feels like something is there, because I feel like I'm being watched any time I look over there. It could be, though, that that area is a source or exit of energy to/from the house because it's a corner that's not well-insulated and doesn't have any adjoining rooms next to it. After seeing stuff on TV, I'd love to do some paranormal tourism and go to reportedly haunted places to see if it's legit.

Friedrich Schiller all the way. I've found so much of the stuff he covers in his "Letters on the Aesthetic Education of Man" everywhere else in the humanities. He's probably my favorite Enlightenment philosopher. I also like Theodor Adorno, Guy DeBord, Arthur Danto, George Dickey, John Dewey, and David Hume. (I'm pretty big into aesthetic philosophy.)

In 2009 I began going by a different name than the one I had had since birth. Largely, that shift was an attempt to put some distance between who I was and who I wanted to be. Then, in 2011 I decided to follow a long-term plan and live out a particular identity that I felt was roomy enough for me to develop. I think I'm getting to the end of that now, or at least I'm transitioning on to a more mature state. 2015/2016 so far has been pretty good to me and I'm realizing I don't need all the security blankets I've wrapped myself in. I feel like I'm about to slither out of my skin again soon.

Old enough to legally buy alcohol but not old enough to not get carded when I'm legally buying alcohol.

In my own self-diagnosis of my social anxieties I would probably point to lingering resentment of teenage shame or repressed feelings against younger people who like they would be the type to pick on me if I were their age. The past is full of answers to the present.

I front a pretty conservative appearance because I prefer subtlety to being ostentatious in public. Earth tones, slim fit jeans, athletic shoes, tevas, v-necks, loose shirts that make me feel like a flower. I can't handle tees with a lot of text on them but I like band tees or older shirts with an obscure reference. A lot of black, charcoal grey, azure, never yellow or orange, rarely white or red. The lightest I can do is purple or light blue. As Zooey Deschanel said one time on Conan, "I like to wear clothes I can flee in."

I appreciate sunshine, cloudless skies, breezes, abundant snowfall, early evening summer downpours. You know, all that temperate climate business.

It's like "wow I can't believe how much of a little bastard I once was." Thank god for my twenties.

Kids are cool but I have trouble communicating with them because I assume they are as precocious as I was at whatever age they are. Teenagers scare the crap out of me, mostly because it's like looking in a funhouse mirror.
