  1. I collect an absurd amount of Star Wars stuff. I pick up a lot of Disney stuff as well but that's just for fun. Star Wars collecting is a way of life.
  2. I always thought the fandom was mostly male (like a good 60% at least). Isn't that what all the silly fuss was about, so many guys liking a girl show? I expected more than 30% boys and obviously quite a few more grown men. ^This sounds about right.
  3. I never even heard about the fandom till after I watched my first few episodes (which started with Lesson Zero, discovered on TV by accident one boring night). I told my brother about this cool new show I found and he told me there was a big fandom around it. I looked into it and soon got swept up in all the fun. Never looked back.
  4. Knight and Day and Despicable Me 2. Both quite a lot of fun.
  5. Wow, so many veterans here! I spent three years on another pony forum but I've only been here for a little over a year. I'm like a virgin here!
  6. Just wondering why all the ziplock bags in my freezer balloon up and take up all the room in there. Shouldn't they shrink up instead? Aren't things supposed to shrink when they're cold?
  7. I really dislike know-it-alls who actually know nothing. KInda like me.
  8. I always watch the fireworks at Disneyland, which are amped up a bit for the fourth. I don't know if they're the world's best (and kinda doubt it) but they're nice and I always enjoy the show. It's a fixture of my fourth of July festivities.
  9. You've only been here for a short time but you already seem like a major fixture, and a welcome one! And I certainly wouldn't say you're not popular. You're awesome.
  10. Exactly true. I have no probs with age gaps of any kind. If it's love, it's love. And one nice thing is that it's not based so much on how young, hot, popular or 'cool' a person is; it's more about what's on the inside and what each half of the couple sees in the other. My parents are ten years apart in age and it was never a problem. No reason it should be. It's all about maturity and personal chemistry. Back in the old, old days (I'm talking old west stuff) girls sometimes married at age fifteen, and often to mature men. One of my own distant ancestors was married as a very young teenager to an older man, and not because she 'had to' but because she chose to. She was ready for marriage at an early age because she had the mental maturity for it, as many girls did back then. I think marrying for love and not for image is a beautiful thing. I'm all for it.
  11. There seems to be some opposition here about people with a bad moral compass being kept alive in the event that all disease was eradicated. Yet what is moral about someone who would appoint themselves judge and jury to the point of letting them, or anyone else, die if they didn't have to? And what about the people with a good moral compass? Surely they have a right to live. The fact is, everyone has the right to live and if anyone has the ability to ease suffering and save lives it's their duty to carry out that ability. Doctors who try to save lives aren't considered a liability to humankind because the people they save may inadvertently help spread disease throughout the world or cause suffering in any of countless possible ways. It's the price of doing business on planet earth. And having more people doesn't just mean there's a potential for more bad things, but also a potential for more good things. Overpopulation isn't the problem it's often made out to be. You could fit the entire population of the world in the state of Florida. So, quite a bit of extra space if it really gets down to it. The bottom line here is that lives are important, whether we always agree with that fact or not. If given the opportunity to eradicate disease, I would do it without hesitation.
  12. I just had a late night snack of leftovers, but a cream puff for dessert would go down real smooth.
  13. Fish filet and fries from Long John Silver's, left over from dinner.
  14. I have a minor headache, but it's the good kind I get when I've been active and productive. So I'd say I'm feeling pretty good.
  15. I'm not much of a cook so it's always better for me to just go out to eat or order delivery. On occasion when I want to just play around with the stuff I find in the kitchen it can be fun to improvise and see what happens. The dishes and the mess though make it the exception rather than the rule. And I just like fast food (or slow food when someone else does the work). The price is comparable between eating out and having something of similar quality at home, so I'd rather enjoy the experience of going out.
  16. Pegasus, because we can fly! What could be more fun and free than the joy of taking to the air and seeing the world as no one else (sans wings) can? It's a singular joy and a privilege I wouldn't turn down for anything.
  17. I have never cared what people thought about my being an MLP fan, or any of my other fandoms either. I love what I love and I am who I am. I don't expect others to change their interests because of me and I won't do it for others. I like MLP, it's cool and that's that. Some of my favorite clothing items have MLP or Star Wars or other examples of my interests emblazoned across them. I'm not going to stop wearing these great outfits for anyone. They're just too awesome. I wear my interests out in the open, I'm just made that way.
  18. On vacation at Disney World last year I got a lot of comments and Brohooves from MLP fans (6 years old up to mid 30s) because I was wearing a Derpy T-shirt. One guy even took a picture with me. A cast member there gave me a hoof bump and said, "We're everywhere!" and that really put a smile on my face.
  19. Here are a few from a little ways back: Seats of Piss Fetus on the Wheel Look Mummy, Clowns (These are all real, I kid you not.)
  20. I get to see the most beautiful swans at work everyday. Plenty of ducks too. There are horses if I go for a stroll and see more of the surroundings.
  21. I live by a pretty basic code of ethics; the common sense approach to doing what's right. I am religious and so I have that as a foundation, but things like faith, love, charity, honor, chivalry and so on are also seen in a wide variety of cultures and practices. So it's like a basic law of humanity. Everyone knows right and wrong, and even though some things take a slightly different slant or it gets rearranged a bit, the same ultimate truth remains. "Do unto others..." has a religious foundation, but it still applies universally whether one considers themselves religious or not.
  22. It's true that carrying out an intelligent plan is the result of intention and so the latter is instrumental. Spontaneity can bring about the best results though when we don't overthink things. When I make plans they don't always see fruition and it bothers me, so as much as intention has an important place, it has the side effect of feeling like failure when it isn't acted upon. Action doesn't have this effect unless the action brings about some harm, intended or otherwise. Some of the biggest turning points in my life are the result of spontaneous decision. When I was little I knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. I forgot about these plans until I was much older, when I had an opportunity to take a shot at it. Even though it was just for fun and more of a nod to my younger self I ended up realizing this long-dormant dream and it changed the course of my life. In this case it was an intention that became a spontaneous action. How's that for mixing things up?
  23. I've always liked having long hair (as I mentioned here in this thread about a year ago) but despite all its benefits and options for styling and creativity, I sometimes think it might be fun, especially in the hot summer months, to just bite the bullet and cut it really short. I've seen some short styles that are really cute, but I know I'd chicken out if it ever came to actually taking the leap. I'd probably love it for a day or so, then spend the next several months fretting about how long it would take to grow it all back.
  24. This year started off on a strange note. I had surgery and have been recovering ever since. It went well and I've had lots of support as well as countless blessings. That's why I won't say it had a negative start, just not the typical kind of thing. Beyond that, it's been busy but in a good way. I don't know where the rest of this year will take me; I wasn't able to put my usual resources into play for my yearly vacation and other things, but I'm still keeping a positive outlook and finding ways to accomplish certain goals with somewhat limited means. It'll work itself out and everything will find its balance, I have faith.
