  1. Language is a beautiful thing. Each one is like a different art form uniquely representing its geography and culture. By learning foreign languages we make the world smaller and more unified. On the other hand, if you speak a language others don't understand, you can say naughty things right in front of them and they won't have a clue about it. Of course, that's one of the loftier reasons for spending years of intense study learning another tongue.
  2. I like being called Miss. It may seem formal but it has it's place (and frankly, the world can use a little more formality these days). It's a nice way to show respect for someone, and it doesn't have to be relegated strictly to the older folks. One thing I don't like is being called Ms. That just seems silly. If a lady's marital status is not apparent, do what they used to do in the old days and stick with Miss unless told otherwise.
  3. Wow, I suddenly feel really old. Since when has recess become a non-entity? I always remembered having two 15 minute breaks and on half-hour one throughout my schooling experiences. School is horrid enough as it is, but excising these little windows of escape from the realms of hell is inhuman. Oh well, that's school for you. If it isn't evil enough already, it'll find new ways eventually.
  4. I often have very elaborate, story-based dreams that can go on forever, but very seldom have I achieved genuine lucidity. I've only had a few fleeting fragments of lucidity but nothing you could really call a solid dream. Happily though, one of these rare fragments involved my meeting Rainbow Dash in person. I remember touching her face and she was very soft and squishy. I've tried many times to improve lucid dreaming; dream diary, isobeats, Calea Zacatechichi and such, but haven't had much luck. Oh well, the quest goes on...
  5. Reading a very funny book "Very Good, Jeeves" by P.G. Wodehouse. Must read more.
  6. I would date someone similar but not identical by any means. Many people (though not all) seem to gravitate towards others who have a similar appearance anyway; dark hair to dark hair, certain facial characteristics to the same characteristics, etc. It seems to be natures way of helping us recognize someone, on some level, that we can identify with. I wouldn't want a male clone of myself because it's no fun without differences and new territory to explore. I already know me. It would be boring to try to hold a conversation with myself when I already know what I'm going to say. Half the fun is getting to know someone else for who they are. Similarities are fine because they give some common ground to work from. But a total clone would suck.
  7. Samurai all the way. Vikings may be strong and well armed, but Samurai have not only great weaponry but great stealth, tactics and better protection with their layered armor. Katanas are less heavy and far sharper than a Viking sword. A Viking weapon, by just sheer force of weight and momentum, can do lots of damage when they hit their mark, but the lighter Samurai swords can deliver many blows and more quickly. I wouldn't want to face either one in battle, but if I was placing a bet on who would win in a fight, it would be the Samurai most definitely.
  8. Yes, I have imaginary friends, always have and always will. I still consider all my plushies part of my family and talk to them all the time. I like them to be comfortable and consider their needs at all times. I guess they count as imaginary characters. There's nothing wrong with it and there's no need to call Bellevue. It's just natural human behavior. Ever seen Cast Away? The man's best buddy is a freakin' soccer ball, but when he loses it, it's the harshest scene in the movie. I always cry in that scene. Let's face it, sometimes inanimate objects or imagined characters are more fun and easier to get along with than many humans.
  9. Personally I'd rather be basted in honey, covered in fire ants and forced to listen to country music while they dined on my flesh. High school has no useful purpose in life unless you value the concept of tormenting a generation of kids at a time in their lives that's already difficult enough as it is. I never learned anything from high school except that it's something that should be avoided at all costs. I got my education after I left school far behind me.
  10. Hi friends! I'm going to be away from the forums for a while so I can get caught up with a few things. I'll check back when I can. I'll miss you!

  11. I suppose I would give it a try, until my back goes out or a mess up my manicure, whichever comes first. Ah, the things I'll do for shiny new toys!
  12. Ghost Adventures. Now I have to watch some cartoons so I don't get nightmares. :awuh:
  13. I really hate the Progressive commercials. Too one-note, and let's face it, they've had the same 'Flo' character forever and it's not funny anymore. Same goes for the Geico gecko. It was cute at first, but it's time for a new ad campaign. The Geiko cavemen were better and too short-lived.
  14. I used to live in Arkansas and the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs was reputed to be haunted. It was originally built as a health resort with natural springs that could cure any ailment, but that was a sham, and many patients died there. Now it's a very pretty hotel with many famous hauntings. One of my family members staying in the Governors's Suite there tried opening a door, but felt it being held shut from the other side. When he finally got it open, the room beyond was empty, except he heard a sound of someone unseen loudly clearing his throat. If that had happened to me, I'd still be running! I now live in California, and we do apparently have a resident ghost at Disneyland where I work. Happily I've never seen it. :awuh:
  15. I usually avoid parties like a contagious disease. I never really understood the fascination with standing around and talking in a crowded room and pretending to enjoy one's self. It doesn't feel natural or spontaneous. I'm not comfortable in random crowds and prefer to have my conversations one-on-one without other distractions. If I was at a party I would quickly find a back corner, pretend to be interested in something that'll take me away from everyone's attention, and try to think up an excuse to leave early and return to my own habitat.
  16. Hi! Welcome back, JennabunVA! I haven't yet had the privilege of meeting you (I've only been here a month and a half) but now I have the honor of meeting you for the first time, which is just as good! You sound like a wonderful pony and I'm looking forward to seeing you these lovely forums!
  17. I LOVE Jar Jar Binks and the Ewoks. There's nothing wrong with being goofy, or soft and cuddly. There are plenty of 'cool' characters around and we need these refreshing characters.
  18. Favorites are: Tangled Beauty and the Beast Star Wars: Return of the Jedi Raiders of the Lost Ark The Incredibles Far And Away Least favorites: Hateful 8 Cop Out Junior Get Carter Hudson Hawk Twilight series
  19. Margaret Whiting Eydie Gorme Janis Orenstein Bonnie Herman Olivia Newton John
  20. Also, racing a pack of 8 year old kids to the KFC buffet can be an exhilarating challenge. Dangerous and vicious though.
  21. I like Cajun curly fries. Not necessarily with ketchup, but with hawaiian mango barbeque sauce. It's a nice combo. Sweet potato fries with marshmallow sauce is pretty nice too.
  22. Get loose and don't obsess over the details until you slam out the basic shape you're trying to capture. Once you capture the spirit of your subject, you can work out the details then and clean it all up. And use new erasers on a practice piece of paper first, or you might smudge your art.
  23. I tend to believe in ghosts. I absolutely believe we go on in spirit after we expire from out mortal meat suits. But I believe we go on to the next world. In the cases of spirits who seem to linger here, I would think they have either decided not to move on or have yet to accept the world beyond this one as the ultimate destination. I don't buy into the theory frequently put forth on ghost hunting shows that a person lingers because they don't know they're dead. Honestly, that seems preposterous! How could anyone still possessing any state of consciousness not be aware of something so obvious? Did they just figure people stopped interacting with them because they have bad breath or something? The suddenness of some deaths may take a person off-guard enough to have some confusion as to what to do or where to go next, so they might cling to the place they do know and understand, which could be interpreted as a haunting. In some cases, loved ones may stick around to watch over family members. Members of my own family have encountered lost loved ones shortly before their own time came, and they were always loving, encouraging experiences. Residual hauntings can be an imprint of a traumatic experience that was recorded in a time and place but have no conscious spiritual entity involved. I stayed at a reputedly haunted hacienda in Sonora, Mexico where the original owner was often seen or detected by dogs, who would sit up and wag their tails. I did hear footsteps without anyone apparently there. I've also heard disembodied footsteps at a place I once worked (also reputedly haunted), but that could have other explanations. I'm not going to jump and say everything unexplained is a ghost, but I don't close my mind to any possibility that might exist. There's too much evidence to ignore. So my mind is open and certainly believing in worlds beyond our narrow scope of understanding.
  24. I met a lot of Star Wars celebs at a convention, but the only one I really interacted with was Carrie Fisher. I got an autograph and chatted for just a moment. Seriously funny lady!
  25. I clean about once a week-ish. Most of my place stays pretty clean except for my desk. That could legally be classified a toxic waste dump. I really need to clean it up but it never stays clean so I just skip it. I also hate to dust, so even if everything's neat and tidy, it's still dusty. But hey, dust bunnies gotta live too, right?
