Second great episode in a row (and of the season). Cozy Glow steals the show, we already know that she's really in charge. Chrysalis was great too, I mean, she could have gotten to the cave on her own without many issues. Loved her way to eat some love. Tirek was definitely not bad, I like how he just built himself a chair and relaxed to wait for the others. Well, treason is in motion and friendship is blooming. This may be the most anticipated plot, but the delivery works wonders.

I have no idea what you are talking about.

Last Saturday I watched Detective Pikachu. As a Pokemon fan, I give it an easy 9. Hugely entertaining and funny movie. There are lots of flaws and things one could nitpick about the movie, but at the end what matters is that the World of Pokemon has successfully landed at live action media and with the huge amount of Pokemon yet to see, I'm pretty sure it won't be the last live action Pokemon movie we're going to enjoy.

By them behaving as they have during the whole series. This. After so many years being a Wonderbolt, how many times have we seen Dash and Soarin hanging out? Even at the background would be nice. But they really don't have enough quality interactions to work as they are. Quibble had the superior dynamic with Dash in a single episode, and after his second one he's still miles ahead in terms of chemistry. Even when they're obviously not into each other romantically.

I may need to watch this again to catch all the details, but having just finished it once I can say that, for me, this one has been the most entertaining episode of the season so far. A few things that I loved about the episode: - Yona was already my favorite student, this was adorable to watch. - I've said time and time again how bad the school of friendship has been for the Remane 5, this time they were amazing on the role of teachers. Although they could have done the same thing just as good friends of Yona, their responsibility as teachers helped them for consistency. - Rarity was at her best as a support character. - Spike's self-reference disguise and his lines were hilarious! - I didn't like all the 'pony' reference words and phrases trying to highlight the diversity lesson. I get that its a kid's show, but I think this episode in particular has it so clear at the screen that the lesson had still been understood with a "show, don't tell" approach. - After Rarity, who was the main secondary, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy had my favorite moments while teaching Yona how to dance. - Rarity will still need AJ as a critic to help her with the functionality of clothes. The event would have gone perfect if not for the long dress and the unnecessary wig. First great episode of the season for me.

Do you like The Student Six? Why?
DonMaguz replied to Sepul-Coloratura's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
As characters I like them. As a tool to push diversity forward, I'm ok with it. What I don't like about them is the environment in which they were inserted and its consequences. The school of friendship is a device that has helped Twilight, Starlight and Spike. But has pushed the rest of the main cast into very weird characterizations in order to make the students 6 look good. Their very important role in S8's finale seems like a slap to the face on the CMC, who have not only learned about friendship across the whole series, but have also been acknowledged as a group of friends that the School of Friendship has nothing to teach them anymore. -
After watching it a couple of times, I think the episode was cute, it had a lot of heart, was filled with nice nods to past seasons and showed a very mature conflict from an unusual perspective. It also had amazing performances of Quibble Pants and the new Wind Sprint character, alongside a great supporting role for Rainbow Dash. Having said that, it didn't grab my full interest. I don't know what was it, it felt like they wanted an episode about the complex topic of a blended family and used that base to make a Frankenstein monster using callbacks (Snips/Snails antics, Buckball, Quibble Pants, Appaloosa) and a couple of fresh faces (Clear Sky and Wind Sprint). By the way, what the animation and voice acting teams have been doing with the character expressions this season is absolutely great. It may become the best one quality-wise.

This was a nice episode, maybe a bit too 'ordinary' but it feels refreshing to watch this S9 SoL episodes after the "high stakes" conflicts from S8. Having said that, there was nothing particularly memorable about 'The Point of No Return', it was great to see so many callbacks and cameos from the Canterlot ponies and the elderly (love Apple Rose's appearance), I also liked having another 'Twilight messed up leaving to Ponyville in such a hurry', but since those kinds of things have already been explored before, they don't have the same impact as the first or second time. Twilight and Spike's dynamic is as great as always, I like how comfortable they are together. A solid contender for the show's 'Best Friendship'. S9 continues to deliver solid wrapping up episodes, yet it is clear that the show has aged.

Should Marble Pie move outta the rock farm?

Meme faces: It's the last season, let's just enjoy all of what the animation team has left for us. Definitely over the top but still funny. Starlight in charge of the school: It's a Mane 6 & Spike and episode, she doesn't need to be in everything. No flaws here. Spike needs to read more spy comics: I don't even know what's this flaw about, Spike was great to me the whole episode. BBBFF --> Rivalry siblings: This did come out of nowhere for Twi and Shining Armor. Still, it does make sense for them to have some sort of rivalry. Annoying Zephyr: Pffft... not even close to Pinkie Pie. I found his interactions with Dash hilarious, especially because of her reactions. A guilty pleasure of mine. Feeble security: It would have been a major flaw if the security had been successful sometimes in the past. Too bad it has always been as feeble.

What a funny and silly episode, it's definitely the best one of the season so far. Shining Armor and Twilight's rivalry came out of nowhere, but it still managed to be believable as a sibling's dynamic. Luna's and Celestia's passive aggressiveness is starting to get boring, their expressions are great and the twist at the end worked perfectly, but their lack of communication definitely deserves a facepalm after so much time. Shining Armor's letter and Rarity stepping up as the mastermind were hilarious moments. That's exactly what I thought about AJ's alter ego and past. It really fits with her cutie mark story and her fillyhood friendship with Rara. I also liked that, even when her cover was immediately blown by Shining Armor and her distraction plan was of little help, she still managed to take her opportunity and steal the guard's badge that Rarity used later during Twilight's plan. Dash and Zephyr are great, I can't stop laughing at his absurd assumptions about Dash's interest on him. Rarity's face when hinting Dash to charm him was the best one of the episode! Pinkie's plan to travel to space fits her wtf personality and helped in nothing to the overall plan. Spike's and Fluttershy's spy attempt was actually pretty good, I really liked how Shy stated that they needed to glide and prevent flapping to avoid the geese's detection. The plot twist was great and much needed Spike love was an amazing way to end the episode. Overall, the episode was the first great one of the season, not to be considered into the all time favorites yet, but a great one still. The season has started well and is rising up, I hope this keeps going for the next episodes. Kudos to the VA's and the editors for such a silly episode!

Now, this is what has made FiM a great show. I really enjoyed the students' dynamic and their different ideas. The idea I didn't like as much was Gallus' museum, but he made it up having the funniest role, Grandpa Gruff helped for that too. Silverstream's and Ocellus' ideas were very touchy. I liked how Ocellus pointed out having inspiration for her zen garden from what she remembered from the hippies back home, it was a nice reference to Change a Changeling. Silverstream's inspiration was the best one, in my opinion, the way she channeled the tree's emotions was beautiful. From a pragmatic view Smolder had my favorite idea, a monument is something the ponies could have pay respect to and remember the tree for what it was, although at the end Yona proved she was the real MVP (as expected from best student). Sandbar's idea wasn't so bad, I think that caring for a young tree and making it grow healthy could have been a nice analogy for what the tree stands for, maybe different group of friends could have visited the place and plant their own trees, eventually growing up a friendship/harmony grove or even a small forest. I must say that at the beginning of the episode I wasn't thrilled about having the students on the spotlight instead of our beloved Mane 8 (Spike and Starlight), but their characters quickly convinced me that it was still a great episode. I almost forgot about the first song from the season, it was nice but didn't become an instant classic, will need to listen to it again to make up my mind about it. Overall it was a solid episode, the true beginning of the Season for me (since I care more about SoL stuff) and again a solid role for each of the students. I try not to rate episodes anymore, but this one smashed my face with an 8/10, if I've ever seen one.

Why do you think Cozy is so Comfortable around Villains?
DonMaguz replied to FearTheBelle's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Cozy Glow herself said her intentions back when she lost and tried to get away. She has learned 'how to friendship', she believes friendship is power (an idea now strengthened with Grogar's words), and she wants power to become the empress of friendship. Whether Grogar is aware of this or not, Cozy will 100% try to manipulate Tirek and Chrysalis, maybe even Grogar, to take the power for herself. How will that happen and if she's going to fail or succeed is what intrigues me about her, because she's such an entertaining character. -
This. No contest.
