So I've read the book and am four pages into Catching Fire....And I wanna just say that it's the most captivating books I've read since The Skinjacker Trilogy by Neal Shusterman and Unwind also by Neal Shusterman. I couldn't put it down...I didn't sleep at all that night and when I did sleep...I dreamt of the Hunger Games and scared my dad since he woke me up in the middle of it as I shrieked...Loudly...Poor guy and he knows I stay up late reading too...

Those books are the only books that I can re-read multiple times. Especially the first one, there's just so many things that I seem to miss and then find when I re-read them. Those books certainly hold a special place in my heart

They're brilliantly written! I couldn't wait to get the second book and had to hold myself back from reading it all night when the internet was out. I wound up dreaming of the Hunger Games instead. *sweatdrop*

F0rabarca definietly see the movie sometimes it just takes a certian thing...And if you don't like it then I know of a lot of other series/books that may hold your interest..Unwind for example has a similar feel but in a different way.

I read the whole trilogy and liked it, I'm going to see the movie with my friends in the next week or so :) Maybe it's not the best book I've read but definitely an enjoyable one.

I actually just saw the movie and it was very good :D

I read the first two books in the series, but I never got around to finishing the third book (I'm like halfway through it).

I'm not a fan of reading, but I actually really enjoyed the Hunger Games.

The Hunger Games are an excellent series of books. Funny, I was going to make a thread about this, then I saw this thread.

I also saw the movie today. It was pretty great, apart from some inconsistencies regarding character appearance, and a few others.

Anyway, during the movie, I almost cried at Rue's *SPOILERS* death. I think they did an excellent job conveying the feel of how evil the Capitol really is, especially during the rebellion scenes in District 11 that wasn't in the book. I'll definitely be seeing Catching Fire and Mockingjay. I finished Mockingjay last night actually. As I've said, excellent books with great adaptions.

Objection! Hold it! Take that! Gotcha! Eureka!

I like video games and anime.

You've already heard what I think about the Hunger Games. I still stand by my opinion.

Where did you post it? I'd like to read it.

Anyway, amazing series, as I've said before. Just saw the movie, and it is one of the best book-to-movie adaptations I've ever seen. They really followed it quite well. Sure, they left a few things out, but they were very small things.

The acting was great, the music was great, the shaky camera gave me a bit of motion sickness at times, but I had eaten nothing but fast food and dr pepper today, so that definitely contributed to my sickness. The combination of everything brought the emotional scenes off really well.

And the district 12 costumes worn on the chariot looked super badass :)

Upon further thought, I'd rather you didn't read it - I was completely hating on it like a non-brony on MLP! To sum it up, when I read the series I thoroughly enjoyed the first book (Thresh! That beast kicks ass!) but when I got to Catching Fire, I found that I was burnt out halfway through the book. Yes, Katniss' life has changed, yes things are different for her. I don't care. When they got to the 26th Hunger Games, that was when things started to pick up a bit, which I enjoyed. Then came Mockingjay.

When I read the book, I found that I got burnt out within the first... 5 chapters maybe? It severly disinterested me, but I wanted to at least finish it. And when I got to the end, I was pretty disappointed - between how abruptly the book ended and what happened to Prim (I don't care too much for her, but even what happened to her was like "...okay? Why her?"), it had put me off the Hunger Games completely. I'm gonna stick with my memories of the first book thank you very much.

I want to see the movie so badly, the hunger games was one of the few books I read that wasn't required for english class.

Im going to have to disagree with this. I like the first book but hoenstly, i think the reason the book is so captivating is because of the idea, not the writing. To me, the writing seems kind of forced and disingenuous. I also am not keen on first person present. Just my opinion :)

I haven't read the books, but after watching the film yesterday I'm fairly sure I never will. The entire film felt slow, underdeveloped plot points galore and not a single character (minus one of the other boys who was forced into the game and died near the end) was at all likeable in the slightest. I almost checked my phone halfway through the movie just to see if it was almost done. Then again, I did notice most of the audience were preteens or very young teens and I just honestly wonder if the books/movies just aren't aimed for a young adult audience. I do admit, there were 2 scenes in the movie of killings that did disturb me greatly, and to me if feels as though the author wanted to think of the most gruesome ways to shock her readers and loosely strung them all together and something that vaguely resembles a plot.

I honestly never really caught on the the book. I've read the first one for a class assignment, during which the book did not captivate me. If i were to rate it i'd probably give it a 6/10 :/

Is it as good as people say it is? Yesterday my sister watched it, and today she is going to buy the book... I might read it after she finishes, provided she lets me.

I went and saw the movie today. It was pretty good though I probably would have liked it more if I'd read the book first. I will be reading it for my english class because my teacher is cool and we're going on school business to see the movie. Again. Really don't like to see movies more than once in theaters but maybe it will seem different next time around. All in all I liked it and I look forward to jumping on the bandwagon.

I love the entire series. I just hate that a whole bunch of people never even cared about it until now.

If they turn this into Twilight I will slit everyone's throat.

It's well on it's way... My twilight obsessed sister just read hunger games and it's "her new favorite book". At first I was thinking "sweet, she finally likes a good book" but then I saw all the young girls at the movie and now I'm thinking this is going to be the next twilight. Luckily, it'll still be good, just the fanbase will become unbearable :/

Kinda like sonic the hedgehog, or avatar the last airbender ;)
