I have never read a fan fic, I don't know I just don't have the time...

what is a good MLP fan fic to get started on for a first timer?

If you like comedy, there is Progress

Pinkie Pie (and Fluttershy in story 2) has nightmares. Twilight casts a spell to expose the source of the nightmares. Pinkie winds up in a nightmare world of her mind, and learns the truth about her past.

Post apocalyptic Equestria. 200 years after FIM, Littlepip learns the truth about how the world ended, while trying to survive and find her place in the world.

Thank you for taking the time to right that, ill be sure to read atleast one fan fic before the school holidays end, I might go with one about luna, because she is fascinating and sounds humorous ( it was under comedy as you said)

When I first became a Brony, I didn't think I would like Fanfics. I just thought I would look at fanart and comics. Then I tried one (I think either Today, Tomorrow, Forever, or Bubbles. I know it was a sad Derpy fic) and I was hooked.

I like to think that anything I make, I don't post on the internet unless it is made to a degree of satisfaction with which I am pleased with, and I also like to think of myself as hard to please in that regard.

 

That said, the fan-fiction I wrote I find pretty entertaining: a Half-Life 2-MLP crossover.

Rainbow Factory was pretty good. i'm usually not one for grimdark, but it was really well written. Then of course there's a friend for derpy hooves. That one always brings manly tears to my eyes.

only read two, my little dashie and cupcakes, I loved both, especially cupcakes, yes go hide in fear, i liked it.
