If you gave me a blank map, I'm sure I could name every single state and it's location. Haven't practiced it in a couple years or so, but I think I still remember

I remember at a young age, maybe 9 or so, where we spent lime in school learning about every state, so I believe it's implied that we should know all of them. I can remember all the states, but it would take some time to name them since there's 50 to recall.

Oh god this is so embarrassing but up until a little while ago, I thought West Virginia was literally Western Virginia. I didn't know it was actually a state.   I seriously have no idea how I went on so long without knowing that.

I live in Tennesse, and in Tennessee schools we're only taught about the states that border us (In case they attack) and we're told that everything else is Europe and that's where the terrorists live.

I don't live in the US, so because of that, I can only name 10-20 of the states. I'm rather surprised by how many people can name all of the states. :P

Do you have to learn all states at school there in America?

Hahahahahaha.

Yes, early in the first few years. After that they are usually not dwelt on much. If I were to ask the average passerby what the capital of Montana is ... I bet most wouldn't know.

-_-

'Murica ... Where you don't have to know bout 'Murcia

Sigh

And yes I can name all States, their capitals, order of admittance, most of their Senators, Governors, and all territories, protectorates, commonwealths. BTW there are not 50 States. :P

This brings me back to this song I sung in a musical way back in elementary school that listed all 50 states. After all this time, parts of it can still get stuck in my head without much effort xD I remember this song with fondness, though.

Drawing from what I remember from the song and missing pieces I can fill in from memory, I can list 34 states:

Alabama
Alaska
Arizona
Arkansas
California
Colorado
Connecticut
Delaware
East Virginia
Florida
Georgia
Hawaii
Idaho
Illinois
Indiana
Iowa
Kansas
Kentucky
Louisiana
Maine
Maryland
Massachusetts
Michigan
Montana
Nevada
North Carolina
Ohio
Pennsylvania
Rhode Island
South Carolina
Tennessee
Vermont
Washington
West Virginia

Edit: And of course I start remembering several more after I post this, but I won't include that in my original list. Interesting to see how many I can remember initially.

GRAB YOUR PITCH FORKS, FELLOW VIRGINIANS.

TONIGHT WE RIDE FOR SCS'S HOUSE.

Oh damn, that's not a state. I knew West Virginia was a state and assumed there was an East Virginia.

It's just Virginia and West Virginia apparently.

Not an American, but can I have a go and see?

Chicago (House musics birthplace)

New York (Garage musics birthplace)

Philly (Discos birthplace)

Pennsylvania (that place that sounds like Transylvania)

Alabama (shooting, racism and good ole fashioned metal illness)

New-Mexico (Breaking Bad)

Alaska (cold place)

New Jersey (Chucky was set there, oh and I went to old Jersey where NJ was anmed after and it's a dump)

Indiana (The Middles set there, and it sounds like India)

California (famous people and palm trees)

10 I managed, pretty good for someone who ain't even American :)

Yep.

We Virginians are the OGs, we refuse to be downgraded to East.

I have them all memorized in alphabetical order. We learned the song "50 Nifty United States" in elementary school where you sing all the states' names in alphabetical order, and I've remembered them all ever since!

♪Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado... Connecticut!♫
