What's up with the narrator's voice?

I've noticed in the recent season 5 (sorta) trailers they have this epic sounding man as the narrator, I wonder what's up with that, last time I checked they didn't market toys aimed at girls like that, so I was wondering if this meant anything for the series or the show, also has it always been like that?

Well was he always there (in terms of marketing for MLP) or has he just been brought in?

No, he wasn't always there. He was likely brought in because

a) experience narrating

B ) these guys all know each other

c) they are hinting at the nature of Season 5

The narrator's voice is a sign to show what would Season 5 is going to look like.

You don't need a female narrator to tie in with the marketing nature of MLP:FiM. Besides, MLP:FiM actually is more of a family show.

Well I never said it had to be a female, but usually when it comes to toy marketing the girls usually get an over the top happy voice to market the product. And I'd like to point out this trailer doubles as a toy commercial.

They're taking a new, epic tone which emphasizes all these characters have been through these 4 seasons and how strong they've really become. IMO, it's a lot better than the typical toy commercials this franchise puts out which are in firm lockstep with every other girls' toy out there. It's a new, different approach meant to appeal to all of the fans of the show of every demographic by using the merits of the show and the characters it created to sell the toys. That's exactly how it should be.

I like the way the narrator say "Twilight Sparkle Fun!"

Yeah it is pretty funny, again you're usually expecting something over the top happy but this does something different.

Yeah I'm not really getting that epic vibe. It's more like they're appealing less towards the fun time, hyped up, little kids play style and going more of a traditional fantasy, mythical kingdom, storybook route.

Well either way they're certainly changing things.

Personally, I'm not getting any epic vibe from this voice actor. In fact, I'm little bit weirded out by this approach. It sounds like any other narrator, from my perspective. But it's lacking some variation on the voice.

Big scale event might be on our way with this next season. Something epic is about to happen. That's for sure!
