Yes 2012 will end. It will, without a doubt end.

And in January 1st 2013, 2013 will begin.

The ba'ktuns continue again after December 21st. The ancient Mayans didn't think anything would happen on that day, and it's news to modern Mayans. And all the "scientific" ends of the world people are claiming are crap. The hemisphere of the galactic core crossing won't occur for over a hundred million years, and nothing happened the last time the Earth crossed the imaginary line. Polar shifts happen every few thousand years, and although we'll get another one soon all that will occur is increased sunburn and skin cancer.

I think the highest chance of dying I have on December 21t is by laughing to death because of people who think that it's real. Or, you know, some crazed person who wants to take me down with him/her.

I wasn't trying to sound negative, when I talk to most people about this.....their answers were always "The world is going to end". It just got annoying and I wanted to just say what I wanted to say.

.

I am amused whenever stuff of that nature is said.

I'll use it as an excuse to go to an "end of the world" party. And we can even have a huge countdown until the supposed doomsday. Not that I believe it's going to happen.

Hey, who says the apocalypse has to be boring? :)

Didn't they just announce it was fake? -____-

Who is "they"? And not all believe that the Mayans predicted the end of the world in 2012, as other doomsayers bandwagoned on 2012 because all the cool doomsayers were doing it.

Anyway, anyone with half a brain should realize the world won't end.

I'm pretty sure that the amount of poeople who actually believe the world will end is below the 1% of the polulation. If you just look around you'll notice that for some weird reason, EVERYONE is acting like if EVERYONE else thought it's true, something wich is simply ilogical

The 2012 phenomenon is a bandwagon that was made from a misinterpretation of a mistranslation. The Myan calender does not "End" on that date, but repeats the cycle into a new age. None of the texts says that the end comes with it. And some thought that the end of the calender meant the end of the world due to the accurate predictions of the sun running across the galactic center.

So I doubt anything more than anything we can do to ourselves will happen on that day. But it still will hold a lot of significance, and who knows? Something may happen that we are totally unaware of yet. We'll just have to wait and see.

(and it better not be the end, because then MLP will be stuck in an eternal cliffhanger! )

I don't really have much to add that everypony else hasn't already said. Other than I read somewhere that they just found some Myan tablets that pretty much prove 2012 isn't the end. The calendar just resets itself....

If and when the world comes to and end, I think it will be caused by human stupidity (nucular war, ect.) Not ancient miscalculated predictions

No. There have been countless end-of-the-world claims, and none of them have ever come to pass. Besides which, the Mayans never predicted the end of the world. It's just the end of a cycle, which, today, really means nothing, as the ancient Mayans are no more.

It sickens me to see this, though. I mean, if you screw yourself over before you're dumb enough to believe things like this, that's your problem, and I could care less. but people bring their families into this, and do things like sell their home or kill their children, as if it actually were the end of the world. That's what really bothers me.

I'm still having an "end of the world" party, because why the hell not.

If we die, damn. If we don't, we will wake to the sounds of hungover people scrambling away from the sunlight.

Be as it may, I can't feel very much pity for those who are willing to give up so much for something that may or may not happen. Honestly It's borderline offensive that people and the media pay more attention to this supposed prediction, than current world problems.

The mayans had many cycles, I believe the 2012 cycle is us gaining one more bak'tun, the date we will go from a bak'tun to a pictun (20 bak'tun's) will be october 13, 4772.

Many believe the end of a cycle means good luck for all, and that you will gain wealth and prosperity. I like that idea better than doomsday 2012

also

The Mayan calender did not have leap years on it

Caesar created leap years in 45 B.C.

There has been about 514 leap years since then, which would put the correct date at July 2013.

2012, lulwut?

Edit: Oh also, if you havn't read the story of how they were conquered by the Spanish. The Spanish rode on in on their horses, the leader who was known for these predictions thought they were stupid people because he thought their helmets were pots and pans, and that they were horse people. He led them into the main part of their city. The person in charge of that invasion (I can't remember who it was that lead it) TOLD HIM TO HIS FACE that they were going to come back tomorrow and kill them. So what do they do tomorrow? They have a PARADE and all their military is their unarmed, and what happens? The Spanish invade, good predicting there leader man.

Another post I made regarding this

The mayan calender is a wheel, wheels keep on spinnin' round

Nothing's going to happen. If it does, it will be entirely coincidental. There is no way of predicting when the world will end. Especially not from some ancient civilization. It's all just superstitious nonsense. December 21st will come and go. A new doomsday date will be set, and the cycle will start all over again. People never learn. Ever.

The end of 2012 will be scary because when it ends, 2013 will begin.

I don't know about the rest of you ponies, but I hate odd numbers.

2012 has already been debunked, and there was a thread on it.
