Nirvana - I just never got how their music became so legendary. Their music is pretty good at best. I also don't understand how Smells Like Teen Spirit can be so highly regarded as one of the great staples of rock n roll history.

Anything out of the 80s. Too often people act like music got stale or bad after that but for the most part I'd say the only people who think that are too stuck on what they know or just don't branch out enough to find the good music.

Of course you're gonna think music sucks when all you listen to is the inoffensive shit on the radio and top 100 charts...

Almost anything you hear on the radio. Also, Nirvana, Metallica, Megadeth and Pig Destroyer.

Honestly I don't think most people like what's on the radio. They just listen to it (giving ratings without thinking about it) because it's better than silence while driving or working.

Nickelback. I don't hate them as much as some, but you've got to ask yourself what went wrong with popular music when one of the top-selling acts of all time is a very generic and uninventive post-grunge band.

I'd also throw in Sam Smith even though he debuted this year.

The fact that the music industry is declining due to streaming yet he managed to sell over 3 million copies WW is just

I completely disagree with Nirvana being overrated, they got us off 80's music and helpped usher in Grunge, but that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. Now Mettalica they are great and greatly overrated at the same time.

The biggest I can think of is... I'm not really a big fan of Led Zeppelin outside of Stairway To Heaven, which has a completely different aesthetic and, like, everything from the rest of their music.

I will agree with Discordian most anything from the 80s, too. Pop was intolerable, and the rock was very hit-or-miss. Usually miss.

I say music got bad with the 80s, not after. ;P

Of course, good music exists during all eras... Totally agreed that the worship of the 80s is completely unfounded, and I'm really sick of it getting paired with the 60s and 70s. Like I can't find an Oldies station that doesn't play 80s anymore. Ew. The 80s will never go well with the 60s/70s... In fact, it will never go well with anything, because it is an awkward era.

I have more music I love from the last decade than the 80s!

I'd have to say Nirvana and Linkin Park.

Now maybe this is influenced by my biased against their music (i can't stand both of them) but i've seen so much praise and fanboyism to these (in my biased opinion)  edgy, sub par, and pretentious groups,

Queen...

Not so much Freddy Mercury himself, but three certain songs.... We are the Champions, Another one bites the dust, and We will rock you.

Seriously, the man had more good songs than those three.

Kanye West. He gets loads of critical praise and I just don't really see the appeal.

Second this. His early stuff was good, but not a single one of his songs touches any of the classic records put out by artists that came before him.

Anything mainstream right now. Can't stand to listen to the music that's in the charts now-a-days. If I had to pick an artist though, I'd probably go for Linkin Park or Pantera. Never really got into either of their music.

I also have to agree the Elvis Presley was terrible, not sure how he ever earned his fame.

Also not a big fan of the Beetles.  Their ok, but I could never really get into their music.

for artists: all the mainstream artists that you hear on the radio

for bands: the boys band and others like BFMV, Slipknot, A7x and such because they are too praised for music that sounds like metal but lacks a lot of elements that greatly defined the genre in the 80's/90's

Yeah, Sam Smith is overrated. He has a good voice, sure, but his music is boring in my opinion.

Also, I think the Beatles are overrated. They shouldn't be praised for being gods in the music industry as they are usually. They made some good songs, but not anything groundbreakingly fantastic.

I definitely agree with Nirvana being overrated. I just never liked any of their songs. I also think Beyonce is overrated. The one song of hers I can listen to is Halo. Every other song is either poorly written or just obnoxious.

Fun is another band I can't stand hearing for some reason. The music just annoys me. Oh, and Pitbull, of course. Hell, like others have said, most of what's on the radio is overrated.
