spoiler Is Amending Fences one of the greatest episodes ever!?

So hey, i'm sure by now we all saw the latest Twilight episode: Amending Fences.

I hope I am not alone in loving it to death.

Aside from a rushed introduction it was near perfect. It had humour, actually showed background ponies right, gave more character development for Twilight, gave us a great new character in Moondancer, showed Spike to not be completely obnoxious and gave us an ominous Starlight Glimmer cameo!

For me it is a beacon that Friendship is Magic has always been strongest in Slice Of Life stories, and I believe it is easily a 9+ out of ten, and rivals Lesson Zero as the greatest Twilight episode!

The episode also brought season 5 back from the brink. It was slowly dipping below seasons 1 and 3 as my least favourite, but this episode single handedly boosted the whole thing and put it back in 3rd place!

What do you guys think? Do you love it as much as me?

I would have to agree, for me this episode was exceptional. It went straight into my top 3 and I have been watching it on repeat ever since :twi: It was just so heartwarming and Spike was perfect in this episode. <3

No, I don't think it was as good an episode as many claim. I have reasons, but I won't repeat them here. I'll just point anyone who wants to know more to my blog entries on the episode: review and repair shop

I won't try to stop other people from liking it, though. :)

This was actually a really great episode and pretty important. At least for me, it was. I've rewatched it a ton, and perhaps as much as The Last Round up.

The fact that this episode's moral was that theres just some people you can't befriend, for the first time or the second time, was pretty important. The fact that the princess of friendship herself had to learn this brought that home that much more. And for that to also mean that just because you've been hurt before, doesn't mean you should clam up in your suffering and never reach out to another person again for friendship? A lot of people need that. Sometimes that is such a great injury that some people will never be able to overcome it, and that's nothing to hold against them. But for Moondancer to have been able to overcome what was done to her? That shows that it's possible. And maybe even possible for everyone. Noone should be lonely, and I'm glad that even though it was in fiction, someone wasn't.

Twilight was a little naive and juvenile in how she tried to force moondancer into accepting her again as a friend, but it's understandable: She went from an extreme introvert into a budding extrovert, and that's the way it is a lot of the time. People just make mistakes. And it's something Twilight thankfully seemed to come to terms with at the episode's conclusion.

And really, some of the background character's reactions to moondancer's bitterness and suffering could be construed as ugly, or harmful, but really, they were simply dealing with it the best way they could in their ignorance, and they weren't shown in a negative light for it, but believably, and realistically. Some people just don't know how to behave around introverts, and that's okay. That just means it's something they can work on, which all of moondancer's friends did.

I can say it's going to be a favorite episode of mine, and an important one for me.

I agree, I thought it was very good, and I can actually relate to the theme of the episode.  I wasn't always there for my friends, and wish that I could have done some things differently in the past.  I thought they might have ended the episode with things remaining unresolved between Twilight and Moondancer, but I'm glad that they ended it how they did.

They never did get Lyra involved with anything, did they?  That was kind of disappointing.

No, it's not, not to me. Don't get me wrong, it's a good episode but one that I'm not as emotionally invested in as compared to others, that this episode plays the 'feels' card IMO and I get an emotional dissonance from it.

Also, no offense but this kind of feels like a conformation post thing, at least given the wording of it to me anyways. If you like the episode, heck love it as you yourself put it, then go ahead and do so, but others are going to have different opinions about it and mine is that it falls short of perfection that many claim it achieved.

When the dust settles it will likely be my favorite episode of the season it impacted me that much. While watching I was moved to tears. Like Twilight, I have forgotten about friends in the past and found this episodr caused so many moments to flood my memory. My initial reaction in the episode topic focused on the importance of each moment we have with another person, and how out interactions can have profound consequences ... good and bad.

Within moments of typing that I received the call that my Grandmother passed away. The woman who basically raised me (which explains my week long absence). My impression of this episode influenced my eulogy as fostering friendships and committing to them was one of my Gran's most important lessons she tried to imaprt to me.

(yep I broke Catholic rules and read my own eulogy instead of a pre approved reading).

This is the second time this season that an episode has inspired me during some rather challenging events. So yeah. It is one of the best ones easy.

It didn't have the impact that Griffonstone had, but it was up there, and the way the characters were written was near perfection. The episode had a message to deliver, and it delivered it in a way that was stunning.

Well done.

Even the greatest episodes has their flaws, so do Amending Fences. Whether you love it or not THAT MATTER. Amending Fences is definitely not perfect. It has flaws, but i love it anyway, is it bad to appreciate the imperfect episode (even fatal flawed one) and express your love of this episode to others?

I'm glad you didnt try to stop other from liking it  :D . You are a reviewer/critic, criticize episodes is your task  :fiery:. You will not overrate anything but analyze its strength and weakness  :fiery: (no mercy). However, I'm just some average viewers, my doing is screaming about episode i love  :muffins:

P/s: When i try to over-analyzing an ss5 episode...

I would maybe consider it the best episode of season 5, but definitely not the best episode ever (for me it's still Read It and Weep).

We're still far from amazing stories like A Canterlot Wedding.

For me, not the best of the series but it was one of the best of season 5 in my opinion along with the Lost Treasure of Griffinstone and the Cutie Map parts 1 & 2. Although I dislike Moondancer's design (not much for looking like Twilight but more for the black sweater and the hair up do) and Colgate strangely acts like my ideal personality for Lyra which annoys me because Lyra wasn't quirky love I was hoping and was all bland in the 100th episode, I loved this episode very much! One of my favorites for sure.

I would consider it the best episode of Season 5, but not the best episode thus far, it is an amazing episode and is written beautifully and I related to it a lot especially Moon Dancer's character.

I agree! I love that episode and Slice of Life, because we FINALLY get to see more background characters. I know some people enjoy having their own interpretation of characters, but it was nice to see them for once have the spotlight. Plus, the writers and staff actually LISTEN to people. They listened to fans' interpretations on characters and used them in a thank you to the Brony community. I think it is a great episode, and I love Lemon Hearts!

It's definitely in my top 10 best episodes in the whole series. Much continuity, character building, Twi episode, interesting characters, and Kasumi Evans having a second speaking role in the show :pinkie:
