Twisted Cyclone ๐ 6,260 October 10, 2015 Share October 10, 2015 I think this topic gives me an opportunity to tell a story. Yay! Story time! lol ย Back on March 31, 2006 (yes I remember the date clearly) when I lived in Central Indiana, my county was under a tornado warning. I was in 3rd grade at the time and we had to enter this one room that had no windows whatsoever which of course is a safe place. We were there for about an hour until the all clear was given. Later I found out that a tornado touched down about a mile away from my town. 5 years later to the day (March 31, 2011) when I was living in the small town I live in currently, we were under 2 tornado warnings while I was at school. I had to go seek shelter twice in a locker room since it was during P.E. in 8th grade. Later on I turned on the 5PM news and found out that a tornado briefly touched down about a half mile away from my small town.ย 1 Country and Rock fan | Car fan (especially police cars) | Weather Ponyย |ย YouTube | Twitter | DeviantART ย ย ย ย ย
CuriousPony 157 November 27, 2015 Share November 27, 2015 I've always loved storms, including tornados. I've never seen one myself, but I've had to retreat to my basement due to them being nearby. I've spent at least half my life in the "tornado alley" section of the U.S. I also lived in Florida for a while, but only for a little while, so I never experienced hurricane season. Me in a nutshell.
Retro*Derpy 3,185 December 7, 2015 Share December 7, 2015 I also enjoy watching tornados and how they form their shape as well as their massive power. cmarston1 5,959 December 7, 2015 Share December 7, 2015 I haven't really seen in tornado in real life, or at least I can remember. But they do seem rather interesting due to just how powerful they really are.

Denim&Venรถm 19,053 May 21, 2019 Share May 21, 2019 Never saw it, but I was outside when my town got hit. My dad, brother and I were marveling at the storm outside. The blustery winds and torrential downpour and all that lightning. Then it really picked up and thought it better to get back inside. That was probably the tornado going behind our house.ย The scary part is that the tornado siren never went off.ย Here's the official National Weather service report for ya.ย Major Severe Weather OutbreakJune 21, 2010 Click here forย Tornado Pictures Summary, 5 Tornadoes, 1 downburst: EF2ย Tornado (Enhanced Fujita Scale)ย in the Eagle area of Waukesha County, 30 miles west southwest of downtown Milwaukee.ย The EF2 scale runs from 111-135 mph, this tornado is rated at 125-130 mph, which is on the high end of the EF2 scale.ย ย Tornado pathย was aboutย 4.8 miles in lengthย Max widthย 1/2 mile 125-130 MPH winds Started at 911 PM - 1.6 miles WSW of Eagle Ended at 918-919 PM -ย 1.4ย NE of Eagleville Waukesha Sheriff reported about 5 homes heavily damaged. 75 to 100 homes damaged.ย ย ย ย

Lil'Cinnamon 1,587 May 22, 2019 Share May 22, 2019 Tornadoes are pretty cool, I have only seen two tornadoes in person last Friday on a chase, and it was my second storm chase I have ever actually done. I hope to do more chasing later since someone I live with likes to do that, and I can actually see a tornado that is not washed out by all the rain and hail. The area I live in currently does get lots of tornadoes to the east, sometimes one can hit near where I live but that is rarer since the mountains are closer here, and nothing happens in the mountains though. And I live just close enough on the front range that they are rare in my immediate area but they get super common only like 20-30 miles to the east and further on the right times of years. But yeah. Here is a picture of one of the tornadoes I got last Friday, picture is edited a bit to show it as the original picture you barely could see anything. Partialgeek514 5,011 May 22, 2019 Share May 22, 2019 I still don't think I've ever seen any tornadoes or funnel clouds. I have seen some rotation in a cloud, but it wasn't a funnel. There was a funnel cloud that went by my house once, but I was away for the day on a biking trip in the mountains, so only my family members at home got to see it. Envy 6,169 May 22, 2019 Share May 22, 2019 (edited) I still haven't seen a tornado, but within a 24 hour time frame this previous Monday and Tuesday I had to take cover like four to five different times. Taking cover in my house is just going to the central bathroom, that's it. I'm terrified of tornadoes. I'm so sick and tired of being afraid for my life, my family, etc. so many times each Spring. Of course, I'm glad that nothing really happened, but I'm so ready to move. I said the same thing in my last post in here four years ago, but here I am, still here. And people where I live treat tornadoes like they're some harmless phenomenon to just sit out on the porch and watch. On Monday we were issued under a really bad tornado watch that fortunately didn't pan out like they thought, but still people here were saying "BRING IT ON" and I'm just lost. These same people freak out if a single snowflake falls, but an actual destructive, deadly kind of weather they cheer on like it's nothing. I don't belong in Oklahoma. EpicEnergy 23,218 May 22, 2019 Share May 22, 2019 (edited) I haven't seen a tornado, but I've seen a funnel cloud and even saw some rotation in an ominous, low hanging storm above my house once. The closest I've had one come that actually touched down though was about 20-30 minutes away. Sunset Rose 254 May 23, 2019 Share May 23, 2019 Tornadoes* The place I used to live in is known for being a hotspot for tornado activity. I was not directly in one but have seen one before but that would have been back in 1991.
Treeglow Flicker 13,679 May 23, 2019 Share May 23, 2019 The only tornado I've seen are the fighter jets. Although the UK apparently gets something like 30-50 tornadoes a year, I've never actually seen one. The only weather conditions I seem to witness is gloom with the occasional bit of sunshine. ย
