What created that dusty wasteland alternate timeline in the finale?

Is it safe to admit I have no idea what Fallout Equestria is? All I know is that it's based on a game...I have no idea what it's about. Other than radiation, I guess.

Yeah, it's a post-nuclear war setting. Not really a whole lot more to explain there. :)

Look at that! You quoted me faster than it took me to edit my post! Thanks for the info though. I'm, not much of a gamer.

Does anypony watch Rick and Morty? I would have given anything if one future version of Equestria was a Cronenberged Equestria!

"Twilight, stop vomiting and get us out of here!" Spike cried, as an inside out Rarity oozed ever closer.

I would like to think it was a little nod at Fallout Equestria but that is just wishful thinking. As for what I think happened I want to believe Nightmare Star is a canon character and was to blame.

Although, I've been told that she won't appear in the show due to being a character by the card makers, I wan't to believe a timeline is canon, but, it won't be featured in the show

Could be a fallout indeed.

Or if Starlight was never stopped with her equalism she would've invade another part of Equestria, created some "megaspells" and started a cold war with the wasteland as a result.

Japan, where Yo-Kai Watch's second movie has more success than The Force Awakens :umad:

  • 2 weeks later...

Some interesting "Epileptic Trees" theories I found on TVTropes.

  • Combine them together! Having deforested Ponyville, the Flim Flam Brothers expanded their logging operation to the Everfree Forest. The parasprites' natural predators became extinct due to the destruction of their habitat, causing the parasprites to reproduce out of control....
  • Or else the Wasteland Future is the result of Starlight Glimmer's "equality" victory ... the Earth Ponies are no longer talented at working the land, the Pegasus Ponies are no longer talented at maintaining the weather and the unicorns no longer have the magic to right what goes wrong ... In the season's opening, we saw what the result was of just a few dozens of "equalised" ponies trying to maintain a society ... imagine what would happen if the whole of Equestria was as inept ...

The latter one is actually the most interesting to me. I'd never really thought about it until now, but, as unlikely as it is, it actually makes some sense.

If we look at it from a purely scientific standpoint, I think extinctions occurred differently. Instead of australopithecus going extinct and eohippus evolving to sapience, a much earlier ancestor of both must have been wiped out, leading to an absence of both species. But perhaps that's overthinking it, given magic's much greater influence here on Earth-E (aka Equestria or Equus).

But I have a headcannon, that all the villians started fighting, and the tree of harmony realized the world had no saviors and was doomed. So it sent out a wave that leveled everything, to wait for new life to form, as it had time and time before.

So happy, right? Like I said, we'll never know, but it's fun to make up stuff.

I have a similar head cannon except it is the ponies themselves that decide to commit mass suicide: After they are all rounded up and imprisoned in a work camp, instead of suffering through thousands of years of enslavement and torture, they decide to destroy the villain the only way they can.

They bring the moon down on top of them and their captor.

Cheerful, indeed!

I have a crazy fanwank that I tought about literally this afternoon but I loved it instantly :D

Somewhere on this forum are theories that Spike is an Earth Dragon. He has no wings but seems more muscular than winged dragons as if designed for digging. Also his breath is green as opposed to regular red of other dragons.

So lets just assume that dragons in in Equestria are similiar to Fire Emblem dragons...

The winged dragons are the Fire variety. The most common type of dragons... Spike would be the Earth Dragon, one of the rarely seen types.

Guess who was an Earth Dragon in Fire Emblem? Medeus/Mediuth. The main antagonist of the game. His species was so aggresive, and powerfull that they have been sealed forever. Medeus himself eventually pushes himself so far, that he became the only Darkness Dragon that existed and went pretty much insane and omnicidial.

So here comes the fanwank. The desolated Equestria was created by Spike who either by external influence or by nature (without his friends to temper him) became tragic villian and went on crazy rampage, pulling other dragons into this, eventually destroing everything.

Somehow the idea of Equestria becoming empty wasteland by the hands (claws) of an underdog character and protagonists surrogate son/little brother at that, as well as Fire Emblem paralel seems greatly appealing to me :P

I like to guess Sunset. It was mentioned that too many crossing over would upset the balance of the world. Somehow she got an army from the human world, like maybe the Element of Magic was still discovered or she sought an alternative that would work in the human world, and brought them over. This sudden influx of people, with a lot of them likely having counterparts in Equestria, would've strained the world's reality to the point where it had to correct itself by wiping out all life, sort of a throwing the baby out with the bath water kind of thing.

It could literally be anything. For all we know what causes the wasteland could very well have been a new threat that would even put full-power Tirek to shame; and that's a frightening thought!

Ahuizotl got to use his rings to scorch the earth.

Ah; I can see that actually being a possibility.

In all honesty Ahuizotl is probably the most underrated of all the villains as I feel he can cause immense damage if he wasn't butting heads with Daring Do.

It was simple, really. Killing my world. No matter what they threw at me-armies of villains, alien tyrants, the wrath of god-they were all just problems to solve. One by one. Methodically. With precision. And blood.

This quote make a  disturbing lot of sense,  there is nothing left in the wasteland timeline.

The possibilities are endless,

One word: War.

With the Sonic Rainboom not happening, Twilight and her friends went all separate ways. Factions popped up, and with the 1000 years of Nightmare Moon's banishment coming to an end, all hell would break loose. The Elements of Harmony would be destroyed by Nightmare Moon and even if ponies volunteered to wield them, they wouldn't be able to due to the severe impurity in their hearts. The wars continued on until nopony was left and Equestria lay...in ruins...as a barren...desolate...wasteland. Without the keys to harmony, war would be Equestria's demise.
