They're the only one having a developed friendship. I don't know if Fluttershy has feelings for him. But its pretty clear that Discord has a crush on her. And since McCarthy seem to ship them, maybe it will happen in the movie? I doubt fandom would have a problem with it since they seen it coming from miles away since S3.

Tell that to Steven Universe fanbase. Greg was a 20+ guy who dated an alien crystal who was over 5000 years old, and they did have a baby.

Yes and no. Yes only because I know how Discord feels, I have a close female friend who loves animals and is not great with people. She is one of my few friends and I look forward to spending time with her. Though like Fluttershy show no feels of love back only friendship which is still nice. And no because this is a kids show and that's talking it a little far. Would it be okay for Bunny to date Moon Dancer #$%@ no it wouldn't.

It's true that he likes her, but people are probably having a problem with him being a jerk and traitor. Until he saves the day and show his good will toward his friends and that he can protect Fluttershy, then more people will be willing to see that ship sail.

Of course you will never convince people who ship Dislestia or FlutterDash but I'm speaking about neutral audience who are still not sure about fluttercord.

I don't really feel like their personalities would go together that well. I mean I think Fluttershy would be way too peaceful-natured for Discord, or at least that's how I feel. Dating wouldn't be exactly necessary for the show either.

 

And last but not least - I don't really even like this ship, I've always seen it just as platonic if anything.   Friends can love each other without it being romantic.

I doubt that Discord is on the same level as Flash Sentry. Most fans already relate Discord and Fluttershy as unseparable elements. I think they will be more keen on shipping them if Discord shown to be more heroic and less of a jerk that is hardly tolerated by others.

Because the show staff confirmed that they are asexual? I can't predict if they going to be romantically involved or not. The Director said that writers are free to write romance about them and that hasbro or he himself never edited out any shipping tease or element that was originally in the script. I think that depend if any new writer would want to write a romance episode rather than judge on their past 5 seasons. Going by that logic we would assume that Dash will never graduate as Wonderbolt because previous seasons never reached that point.

You know, you make a good point there. If Steven Universe can have a relationship between an ancient space rock and a 20-something human dude, I suppose anything's possible.

 

Still though, personally I don't think Discord's ready for a romantic relationship. He is still pretty new to relationships in general, and I think he'd be better off getting a better handle on friendship before he tries anything else. Besides, we've seen that Discord is prone to jealousy, and jealousy is a really unhealthy thing to bring into a romantic relationship! If nothing else that's definitely an area where he needs to develop further before he starts going on any dates or anything.

 

(Also this means we have more time for FlutterHugger? A shipper can hope, okay? It might not be likely but a shipper can hope!)

I don't think the reasoning "they can't do it or we rage" is also valid. This could be literally applied to every other show like Steven Universe or Gravity Falls but that doesn't mean the writers avoid the romance out of fear for fan reaction. That would suggest that they make a show to pander to fans rather than making their own story. Flash Sentry's romance failed in sectacualr way becasue Flash was a poorly written character, not becasue Twilight fallen in love as a whole. I really doubt even 2% of the fandom would protest if Big Mac got together with Marble or Pinkie with Cheese Sandwich. Discord/Fluttershy might still be too distant due to Discord still being a somewhat evil character but i woudn't be so sure if they would work the same way as FlashLight if we add some more episodes about their development..

Shipping. Thats why i only watch the tv show and dont read or write fanfics and other stuff like that. Without looking, i bet i will see alot of trixie x starlight :0
