Personally, I would love if King Sombra or Queen Chrysalis return this season.

You never know indeed.  They did make a pretty big deal of showing that shard of his horn surviving the blast.  That's a potential sequel hook if ever there was one.

 

I wouldn't mind seeing Lord Tirek again, but a repeat performance from a villain always requires higher stakes, and I'm not sure how they would top 'Twilight's Kingdom'.

I feel a lot of love already goes out to Chrysalis and Sombra, which I'm fine with, but I feel there are others who deserve the spotlight just as much if not more.

 

I always go back to the Flim Flam Brothers and Iron Will (I don't technically count Iron Will as a villain, but he was a semi-antagonist in his episode). The Brothers and Iron Will are both just characters trying to make their business grow the only way they know how. There's nothing inherently evil about them.

 

Although, having seen the Flim Flam Brothers return once, I want to give them another shot because Leap of Faith wasn't exactly my favorite episode. I don't think they should be reformed per se, but I'd like to see an interaction between them and some other characters that doesn't involve swindling. Maybe see what they're like when they're not on the job.

Obviously Chrysalis. But if not her, then the Sirens. Cause we never found out what happened to them. They just ran off stage. Usually there's a redemption ark or one last run as villains before a character get's shooed off screen for good.

They explain in the comics, but since they are not exactly canon, i guess they could try in the show.

 

But slightly change, since the origins of the changelings aren't exactly kid-friendly.

Well true, regardless I'd like to see more of Chrysalis though. Even without showing the origins, although it would be interesting to know what the canon is or maybe they will just allow the comics to be well the answer to that and never go into it in the show itself.

Comics are soft canon. and are implicitly Canon according to the staff-- The Comic staff have to run every plot line they come up with past them to make sure its not going to screw up future Ideas they might have or that a comic might be too similiar to something they want to do.

As such, the Show staff okayed the Sombra backstory and plot, so Its safe to say that the show staff had and still have no intention of ever touching sombra again. Compare Discord, who was explicitly banned from having a fiendship is magic Comic made about him since the staff wanted to be free to do stuff with him without comic interfrerence.

I really would like to see Sombra, but it might be very unlikely to happen. However, a return of the changelings and Chrysalis seems more likely to occur, which would be awesome as well.

Discord is really a cool character and I'm glad they've brought him back. Outside of that, Sombra was boring, Starlight Glimmer is allegedly reformed even though I refuse to believe it, same with Sunset Shimmer to a point.

I'd love to see Sunset Shimmer come back as a pony. I also thought Trixie and Starlight had a cool chemistry and would make a great villainous duo. I'd love to have any of them go back to bein' bad.

Honestly, I would love to see one or both of Chrysalis and Sombra. I suspect that with the little canceling cameo in The Crystalling, the former is actually fairly likely. Granted I would LOVE to see Sombra again...yah know, best pony. <3

 

Aside from them I wouldn't mind seeing a G4 Grogar. He was a pretty competent and dangerous foe in G1 and I would like to see that implemented in G4.

While it would be pretty cool to see Tirek (and hopefully Scorpan in the flesh this time), Chrysalis, or King Sombra again, I am worried that they would get a Starlight Glimmer quality character reformation, if they were to appear again.

And to be honest, I would rather never see them again, then see anymore villain reformations happen in the show.

Sombra was prodigiously underwhelming in the show.

But very deep, sympathetic and interesting in the comic.  

 

I'd be up for more of that if he came back.  

 

But honestly, I'm not in a hurry to get any villains back.  I watch the show for the relational aspects not for the high adventure.  But, the nature of sombra leaves open the possibility of a fusion of relationship and adventure, which could be stunning.
