What music genres do you listen to?

Oh boy do I have the weirdest taste in music.

I am a fan of country music (from Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings to Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean), practically any 60s-80s song, and dubstep. Some 40s and 50s music are good too.

I like listening to soft rock, pop and classical depending on my mood. I really like upbeat, positive songs with a good rhythm, such as uptown girl, land down under and taking care of business. I also love those really dramatic scores used for movie trailers, just how over the top they are. I also like country, but I'm a bit picky with that genre. John Denver is a major exception to that.

I like movie soundtracks, especially John Williams, Basil Poleduris and a lot of James Horner; anything with a classical sound. I also love showtunes from traditional Broadway musicals. There's nothing like a good Broadway power ballad to get the blood moving.  :proud:

Biggest genre listen to is metal. A variety of metal sub genres, mostly power metal. Lots of military marches or themed music, classical, movie and video game scores/soundtracks. Though there are a few songs or artists I like from every genre, the only 3 genres I really don't like are Rap, Dubstep, and EDM.

Didn't we just have this topic? o.o Oh well.

On the pop/rock side of things, I mainly like music from the 1960s/70s. I'm sure I've made that almost as clear as my love for wind instruments. =P Rock, soft rock, progressive rock, psychedelic rock, soul/R&B. It was all so good! Plus British Folk, which I also love. There is some modern music I like as well, like Fleet Foxes and some The Divine Comedy on occasion. Sometimes I'll listen to Punk like Streetlight Manifesto or Bad Religion, too. A bit of an outlier for me, I know. =P (Just think, Streetlight Manifesto has an amazing trumpet/trombone/saxophone section, that's why I got into them).

On the classical side of things, I have an affinity for anything from Early Music through Beethoven, and then French Impressionism. I know it's odd I don't really feel the same way about most Romanticist music... French Impressionism is so unique. Pulling from so many unique influences from Early Music to Asian music, yet not straying so much from modern Western ideals of tonality that it turns into...whatever happened after Impressionism. Lol. It is so beautiful, it's on a level of its own.

I also like country, but I'm a bit picky with that genre. John Denver is a major exception to that.

I guess I've never understood why people consider John Denver country, anyway. Certainly there are some more country-like songs, but in general I'd say he's more folk.

If country sounded like that ^^, I would actually like it! Pretty, pleasant to listen to. A nice instrumentation. Soooo different from country I don't know where to start.

Nevertheless, country is rather strange for me. I like the genres bordering it, like bluegrass. And I like country combined with other genres, like Denver's Folk-Country, or The Eagles' Country-Rock, but I can not for the life of me stand country itself.

Aka "LadyPKchu".

I changed my name again cuz lately fluttershy has been more my favorite pony :3 I like her innocence, and I think I may get active in the fluttershy fan club. I really like a lot of the other main 6 too though.

I'm also a FlutterDash supporter.

I still love Korrina from pokemon a lot and plan on keeping my Korrina profile for now :P

What level are you? I've got a mix of all, except infinity lol

Dude I'm pretty much level 6, but mostly electronic.

I'm trying to expand my horizons, but my heart is set on electronic music, mainly EDM/IDM. If it's electronic and has good mixing/melody and doesn't sound generic, I'll probably like it.

I'd say electronic wise, furthest I've gone down the "levels" would be no-fi, Aphex Twin, and vaporwave.

Electronic music means more to me than life. And I really, really love life.

But I also love rock if it has a good meaning. Mainly System of a Down and Avenged Sevenfold.

I listen to many different genres of music - Rock, rap, electronic, metal, nu-metal, R&B, and so on. However, there are a few I very rarely play. The main genres I generally have a hard time listening to are death metal and country music, and to a lesser extent, pop music from the 70s and 80s, though despite this I do find certain songs from said genres enjoyable.

The instrumentals in death metal are often awesome, but the deep screaming is a massive turn off. Country is just not my style (I didn't grow up around country music, I grew up around rock and rap), and old pop music is somewhat listenable, but it was before my time, and its hard for me to relate to that vibe & set of lyrics, if that makes any sense

Classical music FTW. Nothing beats speeding down the German Autobahn at 120mph while listening to Beethoven's 9th.

classical, orchestral, symphonic, (soft) instrumental and musical(Notre-Dame de Paris) are my flavors, or them mixed with other types are fine to me, like Rhapsody's.

the soundtracks in games(maybe in count of instrumental) are also my likes, such as Ori's....sooo touched

Heavy freakin metal. That takes up 90% of my listening space. I don't think you guys understand just how much music there is in metal. Hell, there's a whole family tree of it. Whole sub genres and sub genres within subgenres to listen to.

Metal-Chart.jpg

I like a wide range going from electro (Sim Gretina, Slyphstorm, Tombsonte etc), Metal (Metallica, Van Canto, Tyr, Turisas, Orden Ogan etc), Punk (Bif Naked, Offspring, Blink 182 etc) to Rock (Kiss, Zepplin, Maiden, Priest etc)

I'd disagree w/ Maiden & Priest being rock. Most definitely metal. Heck, priest front man Rob Halford is called the metal god.

I'd guess I'd be 2.5.

The genres I like listening to are industrial, pop rock, death metal (sometimes), electronic and the good old classic (y' know, stuff like Beethoven and Mozart), though those aren't the only ones.

Hell, I'll listen to any kind of music in general, as long as it appeals my ears by not being off-key, not having corny lyrics and/or not having ear-piercing melodies/tone pitches (like serbian folk music) and stuff like that.
