I can't help, but feel that Trixie, Ember, Thorax, and this new griffon character will somehow play a part.

 

Granted that could be wishful thinking, but I see a similarity to how certain characters like Coco and the Beezies played important episode-specific roles in season 4.

I think the B-Team will consist of Starlight, Trixie/Sunburst, Thorax, Ember, Spike and...

 

Gabby or whatever that new griffon kid is called

 

Also a possibility that there'll be characters from the unaired future episodes.

 

And I thought that there was no finale build up this season. Season 6 gets an immediate +1 score modifier!

 

I am pretty certain the villain will be either Chrysalis or someone/something brand new. I'm praying for Chrysalis and also pray that she won't be reformed. The mane 6 were probably captured by her.

 

That's why Haber wanted to trick us! He wanted us to think there was no seasonal arc, but there actually is!

That said, if Twilight is to be sidelined, I'd have preferred the focus go to the rest of the mane five, who have been noticeably absent in the last two two-parters. 

 

Seems to me like it would have been a much better idea to have Starlight teaming up with the mane five to save Twilight, as it would both give them a bigger presence and allow an opportunity for them to build a relationship with Starlight, who still seems to be a stranger to them. 

 

But nope. The mane five will just never have their day. Ever.

If Discord is on the team, I wonder what they'll do to nerf his power? We just saw two episodes ago he's capable of conjuring an entire volcanic mountain in an instant, so there's not much to stop him from dropping a meteor on the villain's head. XD

This episode seems like it'll be pretty cool, I'm thinking the villain of this finale might be none other than the Changeling Queen, Queen Chrysalis. As for the group of unlikely heroes.. I've listed below which I'm thinking might be in this team.

 

1. Starlight (Obviously )

2. Trixie

3. Discord

4. Luna

 

(Honestly, seems like we're taking a Suicide Squad turn here with villains acting as good guys, if that's the case here. XD)

Now this is a very itneresting concept. The mane 6 having a break while a new band of heroes step forward? I actually like that concept. I have one major complaint though and it might be resolved by the time the finale rolls around but, Starlight. I am still not entirely convinced about her. The fact that she apparently is going to be the leader of this Not-Suicide Squad is rather strange because at this point we honeslty haven't seen much development from her at all. I am not entirely on board with her yet and having her already presume such an important role is baffling, but I am hoping that the rest of the season will at least make some progress with that at least. Beyond that, it is a wait and see thing, but this is actually not what I expected and I do like that fact. I like little surprises like this.

 

 

This looks awesome! Well, I'm a big Starlight fan, so maybe I'm a little biased there. But I could see this being one of her best appearances yet!

 

As for the unlikely heroes by Starlight's side, here are my predictions:

- Spike

- Trixie

- Thorax

- Sunburst

- Ember

- Discord

And this is the best possible idea I see. All of these characters have a connection to Starlight in some way, mostly through Spike, so Spike being second in command would be friggin cooooooooooooool. If they do it this way, then my original complaint will at least be softened.

I'm actually starting to wonder if this may be a "backdoor pilot" for some sort of spin off featuring Starlight and whoever ends up on this "team", considering some people seem to think this may be the last season of FiM. I never really agreed with that idea, but still, you never know.

Considering My biggest complaint about Openers/finales is the fact that the remane 5 are always getting the shaft, this is literally the last thing I wanted

 

And considering developments this season, I'm expecting yet another Trixie return 

 

Yeah. The only redeeming thing about this is the implication that starlight isn't going to be part of the mane six after this but will dissapear with her group of backups to go back to their home planet and never be seen again.

So this is what the episode is going to be like.

Well I guess I shouldn't be that surprised that it will be Starlight focused.

I wonder who the allies will be.

I mean Thorax will probably be there due to Chrysalis being in the episode, Trixie could return, Spike could help her out, Maybe we could see Ember again, and Discord could possibly be in it.

I really hope that Starlight doesn't get a throne at the castle, or becomes an alicorn, because she really doesn't deserve either.

My guesses for the villain: NMM, Chrysalis, or Sombra.

 

Discord's obviously retired from the apocalypse business, and Tirek might never be able to top his measuring-stick performance from Twilight's Kingdom.

Yeah, but NMM is reformed. I don't see her showing up.

And sombra got used in the comics, so I don't think we'll see him either.

 

I'm expecting it'll be chrysalis. She's fairly low power, but still a threat (Low power compared to other villains like discord or tirek), and is still on the loose, unlike the others.

If the comics are to be believed, Chrysalis is the oldest being alive (connects to the episode description) in Equestria, and considering the S6 premiere and the recent Changeling episode, I have a feeling she is the most likely. Of course I still hold out hope for some Sombra action. <3

Nah, Chrysalis was born when starswirl was alive, so she's probably not older than Tirek Or discord, and Sombra is possibly older too. She's about the same age as the other (non-discord) villains really.

 Agewise, pretty much all the villains look to be the same age more or less.

In fact, the only surprise there is that Twilight will presumably be getting the shaft as well. Otherwise, this seems like yet another standard two-parter formula, which like the normal episodes, is simply becoming stale at this point: 

 

Big bad villain? Check. 

Equestria in life-threatening peril....again? Check. 

Princesses unable to do anything about the situation? Check.

Twilight Starlight doing the most to save the day? Check. 

 

I'm wondering what the mane six are busy doing here.

Like, Unless chrysalis does a plan to draw them out, there's an implication that there's ANOTHER big, probably bigger, problem going on.

About the only way I'd be happy about this episode would be if we immediately got some sort of follow up movie or special showing what the mane six were doing while starlight was stealing the spotlight.

I'm excited. I like that they seem to plan to take the show in a new(ish) direction. Seeing minor characters in the spotlight is going to be so cool. And honestly, I don't mind the mane 6 getting ignored/shifted to lower status for an episode. After all, almost all episodes focus on them. A change is going to be nice, at least as a novelty.

Yes, starlight has been co-opting her solo episodes into duo episodes, but she still has alot of appearances this season too.

That, or a villain team up, but that's even more unlikely given that out of our truly big bads Tirek is still holed up in Tartarus for all we know, Sombra's dead, Discord's reformed, Nightmare Moon was blasted back into Luna and only Chrysalis is unaccounted for.

 

Though, for those people freaking out that our heroes have been given the shaft, they may be down like they were in The Cutie Map once their marks were stolen, but that doesn't mean they're out. Considering how unlikely this team of misfits might be, just having them serve as a distraction could be more than enough for the Mane 6 to break out of whatever hole they've been locked up in and spring into action at the last minute to save Starlight and her team.

 

As for the team itself, ton of options here. Doubt Twilight's friends will show up get involved (maybe Moondancer will), but the still leave us with the Town Four (Double Diamond, Night Glider, Party Favour and Sugar Belle), Sunburst and Thorax, Ember, and Trixie. And those are just the obvious ones, cause maybe Big Mac, Maud, Soarin or anyone of the Wonderbolts will be involved.

Even if that was a possibility, it's far too soon.  It took three seasons for Twilight become an Alicorn and especially with Flurry Heart being born into it, Alicorn Threshold has been well exceeded. Considering the lukewarm response to Starlight,  doing something like would throw the fandom into a tizzy that would make the Twilcorn drama seem like a minor nuisance.

Also, I could've sworn I saw a plot similar to this one in an old FiM synopsis, but I'm not quite sure. Maybe just the "defeat an old villain" part, which reminds me an awful lot like Twilight's Kingdom.

He is just a shadow on the surface, but this plot is so much more. Don’t you smell the salty breeze of brewing conflagration?

The ending of the third EQG movie comes to mind. I’m just not happy they’re using the show as an experimental plot dumpster, or maybe I am. Who knows.
